My son and I went on a ride today. Since my son hasn't ridden before I asked our guide Kate to lead the horse for him. The horses will try to eat the grass so keep in mind that it will be a struggle. The ride itself was beautiful and it did rain a little. Wear warm clothes and boots. We saw moose, bald eagles and crossed the river multiple times. I enjoyed the ride very much. The price for 2 people was very high but so is everything else in this town. I'd do it again! Expect to be sore afterwards. Lastly, Kate was a friendly and chatted with us along the way. read more

If you are looking for a authentic trail ride, this is the place to go. Katie and Kate were our guides. We crossed rivers, went through trees, out to the beach and back. Their dogs, Sadie and Tilley, ran with us all the way. They were great fun too. We saw multiple eagle sightings. Fun, fun ride. I would recommend it to anyone that has some horse experience. read more

First the good... the views of Alaska on this ride were incredible, but rider beware, this is NOT a leisurely trail ride where you can sit back and enjoy the views. Four in my family went and thankfully my young son did get the best horse, but the other three of us had to constantly fight our horses to stay in line or on the trail. The worst part was my teen daughter TWICE was taken into the trees and knocked off her horse and into the mud (thankfully she was not seriously injured). This all happened right in front of the the trailing guide and nothing was done at least to keep it from happening a second time. In fact, I am not sure the trailing guide said two words the entire trip. In general the guides were inattentive and didn't intervene to help. When the front guide tried to point out some sights on the ride only the first couple riders could hear what she said. Also plan to get wet! The streams that are crossed are in places up to the horses belly and on our spring ride it was still cold so once wet it was even colder. Finally, I just realized that the Yelp site says 2 hr rides are $129 per person - We were charged $230 per person! Bottom line be sure you are a very experienced rider, take them up on the offer to wear a helmet, and expect to spend the whole time reigning your horse in instead of enjoying the views. read more

Young woman who led our tour obviously didn't want to be there. On the verge of unpleasant.  Never told us ANYTHING along the ride other than yelling to lift our feet when we crossed a deep creek (feet got wet anyway, fyi - be prepared) and pointing out bear tracks on the way back (which we had to repeat/pass along to the riders behind us because she only said it loud enough for the first couple riders to hear). Website FAQ states "We take a max of 7 people per trail ride to keep the experience personal and so everyone CAN HEAR THE STORIES LOUD AND CLEAR FROM THE GUIDES." There's no way a single line of riders could hear, even if she HAD TRIED to tell us anything. Tour description says "View bald eagles up close, see where they nest" - if there were any nests where we rode, they were not pointed out so we didn't see them. We saw a few eagles flying around when we got down to a grass field by the water - but in that area it's not uncommon to see eagles flying around so I can't even credit that to the tour. One was perched on a stump that we would have gotten a good look at if the dogs she brought along hadn't chased it away! LITERALLY - dogs saw eagle perched, took off after it and chased it! Why would you bring dogs on a trail ride meant to see wild animals?! Completely ruined the experience. Tour description also says "We will ride through part of the old town of Seward that was destroyed by the great earthquake of 1964. You will hear the stories of the people who lived through it." TOTAL MISREPRESENTATION - we didn't ride through ANY part of the old town or hear ANYTHING about it. We rode silently from a parking lot/staging area out to a grassy area by the bay, took pictures, then rode back. We could go on a plain old trail ride anywhere - I certainly wouldn't have paid $185 per person and wasted our time during a once-in-a-lifetime vacation to Alaska if I had known what we were (not) getting out of it! read more

There are lots of good things to say about Brady's Trail Rides. The booking was very easy, everything was ready for us when we arrived, the horses were all well trained and well cared for, our guide did a great job of pointing things out (eagles, bear and moose tracks) and the trail was beautiful.
