Captain Mike, Megan Monday, and the rest of the crew were absolutely amazing. This is one of the best experiences I have had in my lifetime and hope to get to do it again some day. The burrito for lunch was fabulous. Not only did we see a lot of wildlife, they also go into great detail and provide facts about each animal.

'Ello Chaps, In summary, don't let the price deter you -- DO IT. Don't let the amount of time of the tour deter you -- DO IT. Kenai Fjord Tours offers a variety of boat tours throughout the region. We opted for the six hour tour, and at first were hesitant, not wanting to spend that much time on the water, but boy did the crew and captain make it worth every minute. We saw breaching humpback whales, pods of orcas, sea lions, mountain goats, and glaciers -- all UP CLOSE! There was a large crowd, but using several boats there was plenty of seating and space inside the boat. The seats are comfortable, there's a bar/food service on board, including complimentary chicken burrito lunch and surprise freshly baked chocolate chip cookie provided. Vegetarian version available upon request. I could go on and on, but as a first time visitor to Alaska with limited time, I could not be more appreciative of what this tour provided. I often avoid costly adventures and tours, but this one was so well worth it. Seward is located approximately two hours from Anchorage, so very easy as a day trip, with the tour included. The 11:30 a.m. departure time is perfect for making the day trip possible. Overall, I give Kenai Fjords Tours 5 Stars out of 5.

I have been on the Kenai Fjords tour about 5 times in the last 20 years. This past trip on 5/31/2025 was the best one I've ever been on. We had an all female crew, led by Emma as the ship's captain. She was by far the best captain. Really went the extra mile to ensure we saw the best possible wildlife, took us as close to things as she could possibly get. The whole crew that day was just out of this world, but Emma was the best! This was my 20+ trip to Alaska and by far my favorite thing to do when visiting.

When in Seward, Alaska, we decided to do a national park tour with Fox Island hosted by Kenai Fjords Tours. Truly, the tour was amazing. We saw so many wildlife, including whales. The lunch on board was whatever, but the dinner was surprisingly good. We thought the food would be overcooked with crappy brown greens, but nooooooo, we were wrong. The prime rib was perfectly cooked restaurant quality, 3 different kind of soups to try and more. It was really a happy ending for the tour. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone one visiting Seward.

    Our boat, the Nunatak

We took the Half-Day / 4.5-hour boat tour of Resurrection Bay, by Kenai Fjords Tours, out of the Seward small boat harbor. Not long after leaving port we saw our first sea otter; floating on its back in the middle of the bay; they are much larger than we thought. Our boat, the Nunatak, then headed to Thumb Cove, first passing the "Iron Door" to an old WW2 generator and searchlight station. Once in Thumb Cove we saw numerous sea birds, and Prospect, Spoon & Porcupine Glaciers. We then motored over to Humpy Cove to see salmon and jellyfish in the inlet, then Emerald Cove for more sea birds, (Puffins, Common Murres, Cormorants, and various gulls), and some Steller Sea Lions. We continued toward Rugged Island, then crossed to the West side of Resurrection Bay, where we saw three bald eaglets, harbor seals, more sea otters, and two Humpback whales. Starting our return to the dock, we stopped shortly at Spire Cove; quickly motored past Bear glacier, and Caine's Head (the site of former WW2 US Army Fort McGilvray. Captain Wade and the crew of the Nunatak were WONDERFUL! Giving us a little extra time for watching the whales, while also giving them the space they need. Dramamine and Chimes Ginger Chews kept me going through the whole 5-hour boat ride.

We booked the Northwestern Tour because it looked comprehensive and was said to be the staff's favorite. We paid for a Perks Pass for priority seating which worked out great. Captan Chris, Casey and the other tour staff did a great job answering questions, taking photos of guests, making sure we were safe and providing lunch, cinnamon rolls and cookies baked on board and showing us and awesome glacier (followed by cocktails made with glacier ice), humpback and orca whales, seals, otters, puffins, bald eagles, mountain goats, and more. One of the best tours I've experienced.

We chose to do the Kenia Fjord National Park tour and it was today. Captain Steve provided a wealth of information, and was funny and entertaining too! Best of all he steered us on an incredible tour! We saw sea otters, eagles, all kinds of birds (including 2 kinds of puffins), seals and sea lions and their rookery full of babies, humpback whales bubble feeding (a spectacular site!) and a pod of orcas feeding. We spent plenty of time at the Northwestern Glacier and even saw it calve three different times, the last time was like a giant full on two minute waterfall! And he got us so close to the actual waterfalls in Cataract Cove that I could feel the spray hitting my face. Captain Steve was great about turning the boat from side to side to make sure everyone had a chance to see everything at each event. The crew was great and started our day with complementary cinnamon rolls and yogurt, a great chicken burrito for lunch and hot chocolate chip cookies on our return. Not to mention that they came up on deck and took photos for people and pulled in a iceberg for everyone to take turns holding. We could not have asked for a better, more eventful cruise. Worth every single penny! We highly recommend!!

I took my Hubbiee and Son whale watching today May 1st,2025 and it was AMAZING!! We got to see whales, sea otters, sea lions and tons of birds... Lunch was delicious and the crew ROCKED IT! Captain Wade, Danny, Bella, Kaylee, and Jamie was very knowledgeable and hospitable!!! I completely recommend this tour!!

Jenson, Sara, and Cara and our wonderful captain did an amazing job. I'm so happy I booked this tour for my family. From the beautiful stunning sites to all the sea life and birds we viewed. My heart is full of gratitude as I checked off many items on my bucket list yesterday on the tour. Orcas and humpback whales feeding, and puffin birds, bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, Northwestern Glacier, waterfalls. And no rain! Boy was this a tour you must go on. Fist they give you fresh cinnamon roll and yogurt for breakfast, then lunch is a chicken southwest burrito with chips and salsa and one sour cream packet with a drink soda or water, and last snack was chocolate chip cookie. What. Great day on the water.

This is an awesome tour and well-worth it! This was the Kenai Fjords National Park Tour that's about 5.5 hours. They also offer other tours. We saw so many animals - orcas, humpbacks, sea lions, otters, harbor seals, puffins, murres...The tour guide knows the locations where the animals might be spotted and the tour companies let each other know where there are animals. Chances of seeing wildlife are great. The boat stops for a good amount of time to let you take pictures and enjoy the sighting. He also turns the boat so that both sides have the opportunity to see the animals or glacier. The guide also was good to let you know that the boat would be moving along so that you could get your last picture. The staff works hard on the boat to make sure everyone is having a good time. They are mindful that some may get seasick and make it a point to let you know to tell them if you are getting seasick. There are unprotected areas that do get a bit choppy so taking preventative motion sickness medication might be a good idea if prone to seasickness. The operator is very good about warning about choppy waters and saying for how long it will last before reaching calmer waters. They provide lunch. When we went, it was a chicken wrap, granola bar, and chips. There is a vegetarian option. They sell snacks and beverages. When we disembarked, they gave each of us a chocolate chip cookie.

A highlight of our first trip to Alaska was the 6-hour National Park tour. Getting to see the gorgeous landscape of Kenai Fjords NP and tons of wildlife (whales, puffins, seals, sea lions, porpoises, lots of birds) was epic. We saw multiple glaciers, but Holgate Glacier was the largest. It was so cool to be moving towards this glacier for the longest time, since it's so big. You can step in and out of the cabin whenever you want to get a closer look. The crew scooped up a piece of the calved glacier and I got to hold it! Be prepared- in early June, we wore warm winter coats, gloves, and hats. Sunglasses are always needed. A base layer of pants would have been nice. Also, the provided lunch was terrible (flavorless chicken wrap), so I'd recommend bringing your own food and water. It was funny to watch everyone realize that this food was so bad, and seek out sauces to drown the flavors. Dress warmly, exit the cabin as much as possible, and you'll have a blast!

We had the most amazing time on Kenai Fjord Tours. We departed from Seward Alaska, and had a boat side view of Resurrection Bay, the Gulf of Alaska and the Holgate Glacier. Along the way we saw animals including mountain goats, sea otter, killer whales, puffin, eagles, hump back whales, sea lions and seals. We had an on boat lunch and a fantastic dinner meal on Fox Island served by friendly and outgoing staff. Most importantly was the friendly knowledgeable and interesting commentary by the captain and her crew which made every moment interesting and fun! I can't recommend this tour enough, it was worth every penny!

Booked the 6 hour tour of Kenai Fjords, but seeing how the weather was i started to question if the tour would go on. I called twice to see if the tour was still on and was told it was rain or shine. I asked at what point would they consider cancelling the tour and was told if the water gets too choppy. I hoped for the best seeing how it was rainy and gloomy. The staff was super nice and helpful. The captain of the boat was very knowledgeable about the wildlife. He would point out animals on land and sea. The boat water was nice as well helping with food, pictures and checking on people in case anyone got sick. We were given a light lunch (choice between a chicken wrap, a vegetarian option and another that I can't remember). Lunch also included chips, granola bar and a chocolate. Later on we were also treated to a freshly baked chocolate cookie. Unfortunately for our tour group the captain had to make the safety decision to turn back around as the water in the direction we were heading was getting more intense. We spent the rest of the tour in resurrection bay whale hunting. We were able to spot a whale and got some good videos of it. Since the tour was not the complete 6 hours the company provides a partial refund. If i am ever back in Seward i will definitely rebook this tour and with this company.

The tour guides are perhaps the biggest factor that is in control by the company. The wildlife viewing and glacier kayaking experience is also dependent on how lucky nature views you. This of course is not this fault of the company, but may impact experience. With that long statement out of the way, let's talk about what happened during my excursion. To start, they go over the typical safety protocols to mitigate chances of issues that would occur. Then you embark on a roughly two hour ride to the kayaking destination. From there, you kayak about 4 miles to the glacier. It's just beautiful to enjoy the Alaskan waterfalls and viewpoints before arriving at the glacier. But once there, you're hit with the majestic beauty of the glacier. Due to safety reasons, we paddle until about 1 mile from the glacier, but it's big enough to be seen from a good ways away. If you're lucky you can see some ice calving. Then you enjoy some lunch from a spot near the glacier before embarking home. Along the way there and way back. The group was also fortunate to see some amazing wildlife! From porpoises to orcas, to whales, it was just a stroke of good luck! If you're in Seward, heck even Alaska, it is definitely worth taking this kayaking tour!

Several recommended Alaska Saltwater Lodge for its small boat tours. So I called to book. They don't always answer their phones so you have to leave a message or call back. I found the best time to call was after 5pm Alaska time. You meet the tour in front of a bakery across from the visitor center. There's a $10 all day parking lot there. Met the deckhand Joe who was really nice with a great sense of humor. Walked the 11 of us out to the boat where we met the captain Lindsey. A little safety instructions and off we went. Right in the harbor were a couple of bald eagles. Father out Lindsey spotted some humpback whales bubble feeding. It was a pod of about 20. We got up close - probably about 25 yards and what an amazing experience. Also saw seals, otters, puffins, sea lions and of course the glacier. The day was beautiful, mostly sunny, but what made the experience was Joe and Lindsey. We're out there 9 hours so had a chance to chat with both of them about living in Alaska, how she liked captaining the boat, etc. Really made the experience much more personal. When we got off we all agreed it was more like a day of boating with friends instead of a tour. Can't recommend Saltwater Lodge tours highly enough for their small group sizes, personalized service and great crew.

What a great little town & superb hosts! James & Kathleen made me feel right at home in their cozy, quiet, & comfortable B&B. The bed was comfy, the room was just the right size, & the curtains cancelled most of the constant sunlight shining in Alaska during the time of year in which I visited (this is very important, trust me). I found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of my quarters, as well as my proximity to eateries & the dock. It was a quick walk from my B&B to the dock in order to meet up with everyone taking the Full-Day, Small-Group Whale-Watching, Wildlife, & Glacier Tour (the same people who have the Dairy Hill Lodging also head this tour). Once aboard, the cloud cover parted & we immediately starting seeing bald eagles & otters. We eventually also saw seals, two types of puffins, sea lions, & a large variety of beautiful birds. The calving glaciers sounded like thunder (you realize how small you are when they're close). Humpbacks & Orcas breached & played close to our boat several times, which was breathtaking. I was giddy when we discovered that two Dall's porpoises decided to have a little fun with us & glided alongside our boat, jumping & having a ball. It truly was an all-day adventure full of memorable moments & well worth the money/time. I cannot recommend the tour highly enough & thoroughly loved their Dairy Hill Lodging accommodations. I really hope I can return to Seward, & if I do, these guys will definitely be a part of my itinerary!
