This, combined with the fact that I've been dying to try arepas and Venezuelan food ever since hearing Anthony Bourdain's love of the cuisine, and our family HAD to stop by to give it a try! We pulled up on a mild Friday evening around 7:30, and like normal, there were many other people gathered! We got lucky, and a table opened up as we were walking up to order. We made a point of trying to order many different things to try! We had Arepa Pelua, Cachapa El Point, Parrilla El Point, and Yuka Frita! We had a seat after ordering, and food began becoming ready about 5 minutes after we ordered! The folks running the truck were very helpful, and the gentleman running the grill was extra kind and courteous! Everyone loved everything! I think my favorite was the Cachapa, but all the meats in the parrilla plate and the yuka fries were fantastic as well! The cachapa was a perfect blend of savory and sweet for the outer pancake portion, and filled with incredible cheese and cream! The cheese reminded me of a delicious mozzarella! We all finished everything, and were super full! Each plate is a. perfect size, and very filling...but, the parrilla plate in particular really had a lot! We tag-teamed helping my son finish it up! One thing I really liked, and the reason El Point gains an above-average 4th star in my "Facility" rating below, is that they have a half dozen tables and chairs to sit at, which is definitely above and beyond what you see at most food trucks, which tend to be grab and go! Having seen these tables when we had driven by was a selling point when trying to decide where to dine at that evening! Suffice to say, it will NOT be long before we head back! We went big and tried the Hamburguesa Full-- the mix of meat flavors and salsas fell short of what we were hoping for, maybe too much for our tastebuds in one bite. Maybe the buns can be toasted; with the salsas, hash browns, lettuce, etc. the buns were soggy quicker. We also tried the Tequeños-- breaded cheese sticks; though not crunchy, they were tasty and cheesy. Their mini empanas (are truly mini) and come in a mix of three flavors--cheese, chicken & shredded meat (mechada). These were crispy and had a unique taste. If you have a sweet tooth, they offer a small sample of Venezuelan treats (Chucherias) stored in plastic containers-- we had some Susy & Marilú cookies-- good amount of sweet in a cookie. The arepa was quite different than what I experienced before, different parts of South America influenced. I tried all three, pork, chorizo, and chicken. Each was good, the meats had nice flavoring. The meats come served on what I would say is similiar to a small square pizza dough. The empanada was good. Nice flavor, potato stuffed which was a new twist. Nice flavor and sauce with it, although I would have liked the sauce thicker. Not my favorite arepas and empanadas, but if I saw them out, I would stop again.
