We had Bare root landscaping put in our lawn for our back yard, an area in the front after having numerous trees remove, plus shrubbery around the front of our house. My first indication of a lack of communication was when the workers almost placed mulch around the front instead of the rocks we asked for. Initially that was my only concern, but months later it is obvious that they don't know what they are doing or intentionally ripping people off since the grass they planted doesn't match the grass that was already there, onto of huge bare spots in the back that I have added grass seed to myself over the last couple years. My review of Bare Root (and Ian, the owner) went into the "not recommended section" because of Yelp's automated software that apparently weeds out reviews that might not be from real customers. Well, I am real, and I was out here looking up another business, when I discovered this. Another review was also weeded out besides mine. Both of us gave Bare Root one star. (I'd give a ZERO if I could). At least Yelp didn't delete them, so please click on the "not recommended" reviews if you want more info about Bare Root. STAY AWAY from this company, they are terrible and should not even be in business. I'd also like to add that the French Drain he put in no longer works. I'm not even going to try to contact him about it, it's just that bad. read more

Warning: stay away from Bare Root . They don't back their work and Ian will not return phone calls. It's been over a month. The work is second rate , they don't send enough people to do the work. It also seems that Ian doesn't mind ripping off senior citizens. Find someone else and save yourself a lot of aggrevation. read more

WARNING!!!! Absolutely AWFUL service. Calls were left unanswered for nearly a month. When workers finally showed up they were sent without the proper equipment and had to immediately leave. When the workers returned the next day I was informed they had never personally done the work they were sent to do. While the men that came to our house tried their best the job was left incomplete. When I spoke with the owner, Ian, the following day he was aggressive, hostile and down right abusive. SO UNPROFESSIONAL!!! I would NEVER work with him again!!! read more

I just want to give a warning to anyone thinking about dealing with Bare Root Landscaping. We contacted them in July 2019 and met with the owner several times until we decided to go with Bare Root. The owner of the company was very friendly and talks a good game to get your business. We signed 3 contracts on July 28, 2019 as our job was to be done as 3 parts. After the first two contracts were completed we inquired about when the third one would be done. The owner told us that it wouldn't be done until after the ground freezes even though the contract said "August/September". We next heard from Bare Root on 11/8 when someone from the office called and said "the rock was ordered and to expect a call in about a week and a half". We didn't hear back until 12/18, almost 6 weeks later. That call stated that work would start in a few days. We told the caller "we did not want our yard tore up and the equipment in our yard over Christmas". On 12/30 the rock was delivered and the owner told us they would be back in the morning. They showed up at 3:30pm on 12/31. They then showed up on 1/4/20 and started building the wall. When we saw what was being done we asked about the wall. It was not what we thought we were getting or we talked about back in July. We wanted a wall like a neighbor has 3 houses up from us that Bare Root did. As soon as my wife confronted the owner of Bare Root he became very irrational, flailing his arms, and started yelling at us. From that point the communication become very heated from both us and the owner of Bare Root. He started losing control and telling us "I wish I had never took this job on. You have been nothing but a pain in the a$$ since the beginning." "This is the rock that is in your contract. Read your contract". Then he directed at my wife "Can you even read the contract?" When asked why we didn't have the rock that was used at the neighbor's we were told "The rock used up the street is more expensive" We weren't aware of that and asked how much more that rock was thinking maybe something could be worked out. We were told "It's none of your f___ing business what they paid (for the rock)up the street." The owner then stated "I wish I had done this job in August". But everytime we contacted him we were told we had to wait. And his other excuse was that "this wasn't a big enough job to drag out the equipment". And then he told once more what "a pain in the a$$ we were since the beginning". At this point you might ask why we didn't throw him out? As stated in the contract we still would have had to pay a major portion of the job if we canceled. So now we have a wall that we don't want, and will never want due to the experiences working with Bare Root Landscaping. Our plan is to have this wall torn out and have a landscape company come in and build the wall we wanted. read more
