Brow shaping with Victoria-- My post-quarantine brows needed lots of help and just maintenance (trimming and waxing around edges). I saw high reviews for Bare Waxing so decided to just do it here because I rarely have it done in Tallahassee. I saw Victoria who seemed to have a very "get it done" mentality, which was totally fine if I liked the result. I have had my eyebrows waxed about 10 times in my life and about half the time my skin will come off in really small areas from the wax. With this, though, a very large strip of skin came off under one brow and it still hurts! Not to mention, I wasn't a massive fan of the brows to begin with, as you can see quite a few stray hairs even after asking her to clean up the tail a bit. I want to be sympathetic to the difficult covid circumstances but I wasn't very happy with the results and wanted to inform anyone looking to get a brow shaping done here. It might have just been Victoria, but I got home and immediately tried to tweeze them and fix them. If you were standing 6 feet away in a dim room, they look great! But if you are getting them professionally waxed, you should expect very high quality work, and it doesn't seem like that is what I got. read more

Victoria is the worst! Do not book with her! I booked a sugaring brazilian with her, and it was the worst pain I have ever felt. I am new to town and used to get sugar work done all the time in CA, and it has never hurt thos bad. I have a pretty high pain tolerance. The sugar was not worked enough, cold and very stiff. She also missed PATCHES of hair. I had originally booked with her because of all the good reviews her profile has. I now believe she is deleting any negative reviews. One of the worst eyebrow experiences I've ever had. While the staff was friendly, I didn't expect I would be so displeased with their services. After looking around for an eyebrow place, I looked into Bare's after the Gaines location shut down...decent reviews...decent prices. My eyebrows are naturally bushy and can grow out very quickly. I booked an appointment with Victoria and I knew it wasn't going to be a good experience from the start. Don't know what she applied before my eyebrows (assuming oil) but it immediately went into my eyes. She was very rough on wiping it off and when moving my face. Whenever I do my eyebrows I usually receive a hard wax, which I have received before in the Gaines location without requesting it. Victoria used a strip wax and it left my skin in a good amount of pain. Definitely a "get it done" mentality, took 10 minutes. The wax itself is painful and Victoria noted "not to cry". Knowing my discomfort, the aftercare was a dry tough wipe to a very sensitive area. Side note: While she was doing my eyebrows, she pointed out "you need a facial, missy" referring to my skin condition. Not once have I had a wax technician point out my acne, it is something out of my control and what does that have to do with waxing? Unprofessional. After she was done, I wanted to leave and not deal with trying to fix whatever she had left. I left her a tip because of the pandemic and it's circumstances...Immediately getting into my car I noticed how red, painful, and sensitive my skin was. Small areas of blood. Leftover wax residue on my eyes. Still very much hurting from the experience. If Bare's works out for you and does a job you expect, good for you! The midtown location has plenty of parking and the building is easy to get to. It's also really clean, which is great for this type of establishment. Evie is fantastic! She was great for my very first wax ever and even better in the second one. She's quick, thorough, and a total sweetheart. The products are great too! The tea tree soap smells amazing and does a great job! I also bought the mocha scrub today because it smells amazing and made my skin so, so soft and smooth! Do not go to bare waxing center, the owner burned my face and gaslit me. I NEVER leave reviews, bad or otherwise, but I have also never been treated so poorly. I had an appointment Tuesday December 1 at 10:45 AM I was getting a Brazilian, upper lip, wax and brow wax. The Brazilian for the most part went OK but there was so much wax left-over on my body that the underwear I wore to the appointment are ruined because there's so much wax on the fabric. The eyebrow wax went horribly I even discussed with Victoria beforehand that I have sensitive skin and she applied hot wax to the same area twice and caused a superficial burn to my face. I showed up the next day and was very polite and tried to explain to her that she burned my face and all she did was gaslight me and tell me that it wasn't a burn and that my face must've just been to dry and the wax must have clung to much to my skin. (I went to urgent care immediately after our meeting in order to get treated for a superficial burns to my face, photos attached) I've been getting my eyebrows waxed since I was 15 and I'm now 25 so that's 10 years of wax being applied to my skin and I have never had any issues. I've gotten better eyebrow waxes at nail salons that charged me five dollars than I did at Bare Waxing Center. The owner Victoria was very rude to me and told me that she didn't appreciate threats when no threats were ever made she also told me that there was no need to pursue any legal action so I assume she was just trying to cover her ass because she burned my face and could possibly SCAR my face. My mother decided to call the center because she was upset, I asked her not to but she lives 300+ miles away and I cannot control her actions, Victoria wouldn't speak to my mother, which I understand because I am over the age of 18. Victoria was angry with me and said she didn't appreciate my mother calling, to which I will reiterate; I cannot control her actions. I wouldn't have been so upset over the burn if I didn't get gaslit by the owner when I tried to show her what she did, she would not accept responsibility for her actions and tried to blame me. I was not even offered a refund for the service I was just given a credit towards my next appointment which I will never be making a next appointment at Bare Waxing Center. I left a very undeserved $20 tip. I don't doubt that there are some good employees there and I don't want to badmouth anyone else, I actually did get a great wax from Shannon last month with no issues. but the simple fact that the owner treated me the way she did after injuring me does not sit right with me and I recommend you find a different location to get waxed. Got my eyelashes lifted and tinted. I have tried two other places before Bare Waxing Center at Midtown and I am the happiest here. My lash artist was 100% professional, caring and kind. I was very comfortable on the bed. I am not an easy one to lash or lift and tint so I warned her about it and she took all my concerns into consideration. I'm usually tense when people are touching my eyes but I was ready to fall asleep here. I got an under eye treatment while my lift was happening and this made the experience even more relaxing. My eyes usually water (specially my left eye) and because there was circulating air in the room, the product was able to process efficiently and timely as each stage progressed. In the end my lashes were beautifully curled to their maximum and natural potential. The first place I went to, my lashes came out broken and crimped. The second place I went to had too much curl and not enough length so my lashes would touch my eyelids. At Bare Waxing Center, I repeat, my lashes are beautifully curled with the maximum length used to create a dolly eyed look. I would have to say I've found my go to place. read more

I went here a while back for a brazilian and it was one of the most painful experiences I've had. I was captivated by the affordable price, but after my experience I decided it was worth to pay more if it offered more professionalism and peace for my area. As someone who has gotten brazilians before, this has to be the worst one. I have gotten brazilians after not going for a while before, and this was one of those times. I believe I booked with Victoria, but my memory is not very clear of whom it was. I don't remember feeling welcomed however I do remember them putting wax all over my area and proceeding to try and rip it all off at once, a technique I'd never seen. There was also no pressure applied after literally ripping the wax off. Usually, technicians would give me a trim after not going for a while before proceeding. When I questioned her about trimming, her response was to "come sooner". It was so painful that I was kicking the technician as a physical response to the pain. All she kept saying was "come sooner" as a response to my pain. I never returned to the establishment after that. If they work for you, great, but the experience for me ensured to never step foot inside again. read more

Bare Waxing on Gaines St. is the first and only place I have been for waxing. I'm a guy and I can't compare the waxing skills of their staff to other businesses but my experiences have always been good. The Gaines location is clean, cute, and always has a funny quote "Browmaste, my brows recognize your brows". I usually get my eyebrows done which always come out looking cleaned up but don't look like I went and had them waxed(the shape hasn't changed) which is important to me. Occasionally I will get my neck line done in the front where my beard gets patchy and on the back of my neck. The neck hurts but it keeps me looking clean and groomed which is important as my appearance is part of my paycheck. The staff is so kind and friendly. You will never feel embarrassed or awkward around the staff here. The services are appropriately priced. A Brazilian wax should not be near $50 like some other facilities. Bare Waxing and Skin Care Center charges an appropriate amount for each serve they provide. The service is thorough, low on the pain threshold, and quick. The wax is professionally done. I've had waxes before from a few different facilities and by far this one is my favorite. First and last visit. Normally I go to a chain, however, wanted to give a local business a chance since I'm new to this area. I'm not sure if it was the product, the aggressive yanks, or not prepping my skin prior to waxing (just went straight to the wax onto the skin), however, I left with extremely sensitive / swollen eyebrows with first layer gone on both, first layer of my skin on one side of my lip gone, and first layer on one side of my cheek. My eyelids are still swollen and look to be nearly scabbing. It looks as if I got into a bar fight and now I need to explain to my boss tomorrow. This review is over 24 hours after the appointment hoping my skin would have settled because my skin does get red after waxing; my skin has never reacted this way nor have I been in this amount of uncomfortable pain for over 12 years, since I started waxing. Yesterday was a full day of a continuous ice cloth, ibuprofen, and Neosporin. When I asked for an ice rag or something cool the staff were helpful in getting a mini-water bottle to roll over my face.
