So I started packing my bags, to leave Switzerland but halfway boxing my stuff up I decided to give Yooji's a try. It was for sure not super good sushi but acceptable enough not to move :-) Yooji'in Bellevue has two sections with two separate entrances but internally linked: one Kaiten-sushi (conveyor belt) restaurant section and one take-away where you can buy ready made sushi. The sushi is not bad if you compare it to what you can get in the supermarket but the price is the same, so for Zurich this is reasonably priced. For lovers of specialty rolls, their selection is quite limited but I am not a huge fan of them anyway. I had much better sushi at this price point before, just not in Switzerland and I am already content that I can eat some a-ok sushi without breaking the bank. Oh and extra bonus points for their hours: they are open daily from 11 am to 11 pm, also on Sundays.

My friend and I were able to get a nice corner inside by the window to sit and chat while enjoying our drinks. They really pumped up the music around 8 pm, and it got really crowded, so you practically had to shout to talk. I was starting to get a stuffy head and decided to bail early. I was chatting with the very nice bartender and I asked her what the significance of the Korean was, and she said that one of the owners was Korean. Oh, ok, mystery solved. I parked myself at one of the tables by the windows, which were cracked open to let in the night air and cigarette smoke from the patio. I enjoyed the currywurst plate very much; generous portions and it had a very nice spicy sauce accompanying the tender little weiners. I swear, I've had better sashimi at the supermarket. However, it stands to lose it's 4 star rating to 3 stars due to lack of customer ambiance, as I hope this is one-off. Envisioning a Memoirs of a Geisha or Kill Bill effect of going into this restaurant on a Saturday night, but instead landed with the boring parts of Lost in Translation. No court jesters in sight. Just streams of hesitant couples staring at the menu outside whilst walking by, staring at the emptiness of the customer base, looking at me, and walking away. It didn't help that this restaurant is located right across from cablecom and the 'back' part of the main train station, so a bit quiet and kinda spotty feeling at night. However, the restaurant did manage to draw two couples in, probably thanks to me as a token Asian-looking person sitting by the window, advertising the suspicion that perhaps this is an authentically tasty place. The couple next to me ordered (1) bento box with chicken, which also came with salad and three pieces of sushi rolls (2) chicken teriyaki, which both looked and smelled superb. The smell was so enticing that I was drooling even though I was full with sushi, a strange feeling to combat. I will have to come back and try out the cooked portion of the menu, and hoping for better customer ambiance next time!
