Good parking to start, then aisles of good things to buy. It was easy to browse and handle with friendly sellers. I picked up a nice box of dominoes for $6, Uno ( cards) for $4 and a hand held fishing toy to be enjoyed by a 3+ year old for $4. I asked the money taker to throw in a rubber spiral key holder. See pic to view the lovely bonnets, my friend bought me the turquoise one, on Easter Day. I got a couple more gifts (cheap) and had a good time. The smells of food were aromatic and the real jewelry looked impressive, but we had another adventure to get to so we rushed off. I must visit again and stay longer. read more

The flea market here is HUGE, downtrodden, and full of people that seems to be living on scraps, unfortunately. Walking in the flea market portion makes me feel as if I'm walking in another country. But really, the stars are for the prices and the food part of the flea market - they have a huge open air barn that is well stocked with your basic fruits and vegetables. I mean, LOTS of it - you probably won't find anyplace else in Miami that holds so much produce in a single setting, while open to the public! There's a lot of Mexican eateries in the back, by the flea market. One downer: not so much exotic fruits and vegetables that are grown locally. But for the typical fruits and vegetables, this market covers it pretty well. Parking is kinda tough in the weekends. read more

Pretty cool! I just went here and got tons of produce for cheap. Romaine lettuce for $1 or $1.50. Oranges 4 for $1 (not like Publix flavor-wise, of course, but way better than any local fruit stand I've been to- very juicy), bags of some of the best cinnamon sticks I've had for $1, a bunch of bananas for a buck or so. You can find tons of Mexican stuff here, since it is Homestead. Some other gems i found were FRESH recao (nowhere else has matched the quality-it's always wilted elsewhere), and there was even a guy who sells yautia (malanga) amarilla and a lady who sold white Pitahaya ($2 each- a bit too expensive). Lots of places also have baby bananas, which are as easy to find as manzanos. Some Asian stuff like Bok choy, green onion (the wide Asian kind), and Jap Eggplant. Multiple vendors have dry beans like black, small yellow, and fava) I was a bit disappointed that half of the produce was not local, as I had hoped it would be. This place is so hip and forward-thinking, it looks like it's behind. You wouldn't notice it at first glance, but all that trendy stuff we're all crazy about right now: food trucks, cool vintage finds, and farmers markets were here way before any of us got hip to it. I worked here with my family from Kindergarten through high school. I could write pages and pages of weird stories about how traumatizing it was to be growing up in a flea market where I sold bootleg Hispanic music (mostly rancheras), lingerie and baby stuff, but I won't (like that one time, a man was sooooo drunk he just fell face first on to the concrete floor in MY booth). But I will give you a sense of the local flavor: It caters largely to the Mexican/ Central American migrant workers from Homestead so if you're not a dude that has dirt caked under your finger nails or a dudette in a tight, sequin dress (like if you're going to a Quinces), be prepared for some looks. Even winks or whispers from some of the guys if you're a girl dressed baring too much skin. Also, this place is a big dust bowl, so don't wear your pretty metallic gladiator sandals here. This is a great place to people watch because many of the people come dressed to the 9s. The guys wear their cowboy hats, plaid shirts, boots and scorpion belt buckle and the women wear theses sequin dresses (usually very, VERY tight) and dramatic makeup. Some of these patrons even speak different Indigenous languages among themselves before haggling with the businesses in Spanish. Reminds me of APOCALYPTO! Don't come during the summer unless you can handle no AC. The basement floor had AC when I worked there, but it was always very empty of vendors too. Kinda creepy. On the main floor of the flea market building, there are these HUGE fans but they're more for show than function. Believe me, getting stuck walking through that area in dead heat will have you smellin' all types of things. The food being sold is predominantly Mexican/ Central American and some Cuban. I used to love getting tacos de lengua (tongue tacos) or a pan con bistec there when I was little. Now, I'd stick to roasted elote (corn) smothered in butter and Parmesan cheese. The farmers market sells good produce and you can usually find some authentic items there: cactus, freshly pressed sugarcane juice, a plethora of Mexican candies, etc. The outdoor flea market part is a mixed bag; sometimes its all junk, other times you can find some awesome vintage pieces for super cheap. Then again, if you were recently robbed, you might find your stuff here. Happened to my dad who owns a body shop in Hialeah. This flea market is typical of what you will find in border town flea markets, such as the ones I used to go to in Texas. Go here with the right frame of mind & accept it for what it is & you will have a great time. Quite honestly I have a better time here than in any air conditioned mall or God forbid south beach (stopped going there altogether). It is a very refreshing breather from the same old of SFL. Yes it caters mainly to Mexican agri workers & homestead blue collar, so understand that before you make the trek, great tejano music, great Mexican food, really wonderful "salt of the earth" type people, fresh produce, big pet shop, & the usual flea market type merchandise. We have been here a few times. Always on the weekends. The food is good, the people are nice and the drinks are cold. The farmers market has great choices for some hard to find items if you are into making traditional Mexican or Central/South American food. They had karaoke the last time we went. The singers were so good! Great live entertainment. I like the shops too. It's not the mall but you can find some real gems in some of these stores. We bought a pair of Roshe's (I don't know if that how you spell it) for $70 bucks. My daughter said they were hard to find design and the price is really good. Try the elote and the agua frescas! Don't forget to have some tacos and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables. Oh! And my kids favorite part of the whole experience, $5 dollars for the whole day to play in their bounce house area. They have about 10 bounce houses. read more

I have gone twice, quality of things are not good, but that is the fleamarket. People are friendly and respectful. The food I found not good, I ate there and I love burritos and tacos , they seemed not fresh. The farm market, fruits and veggies are exspensive in my eyes...the plantains are 2 for 1 dollar, publix has 4 for 1 dollar, where is the savings? I agree it is a nice place just to walk around. Some of the things they sell are pretty good. I like to go there, just my expectations are not high and parking sucks. read more

Great little piece of Latin America in South Dade. Like most flea markets there's plenty of people selling "vintage" stuff. And new off brand stuff in the main building. The produce is abundant as would be expected in S. Dade, and reasonably priced. Go to the back of the market and there are several Mexican restaurants. We always get the tacos Al Pastor or Barbacoa . This is not Taco Bell or Chipotle, it's Mexican women cooking the real thing. Also there are a few nurseries in the back with some pretty good deals. read more

Such a far drive but worth it! I wish it was closer so I could actually go more often. Luckily I have a friend who lives down there so I always have a buddy to go with. read more
