What feels like something of an old service station or retail spot has been transformed into an open and bright, yet comfortable place to sip and sit. I wanted to sit outside since it was smaller inside. We got to watch planes pass by as they were arriving at RDU so that was exciting!

Located conveniently a block south of Sam Jones and two blocks west of Red Hat Amphitheater, Vault is a bit of a neighborhood gem in this quiet area. Lots of natural woods, whites, and oranges makes for a clean and well-designed look. The building was converted from a bank (surprise)! The beer list is well curated and prices are excellent ($7 to $8 per pint). Definitely worth a visit with friends and there's often a food truck in the parking lot!

There are floor to ceiling windows which make it feel like you are surrounded by trees as you drink your beer and look outside. Inside there is a modern and elevated which just makes this a cool place to hang out. To order you'll walk up to the bar counter and place your order. Once you have your beer there is open seating either inside or outside. I ordered the Prairie Artisan Ales Slush which wasn't too sour and super refreshing on a hot day. During the day, it's comfortable for families, and evening events transform the space into a real entertainment center. Musical activities, karaoke, and the arrival of various food trucks add variety and make each visit special. Not entirely sure since we still have no idea how to access it, but maybe look for that lot if street parking is challenging :) Anyway, RBF is located in the basement of a building, so we had to take an elevator down from the entrance we took. Inside, it's got chill vibes - it definitely feels like a wine bar :) We ended up sitting inside on a high top, but there were various couches and a good amount of outdoor seating available as well. It took a while for our server to come check in with us, but she was super friendly and helpful with the wine selections once she came over. I got a random glass of red wine (they do not serve beer, in case you were wondering!) while my wife tried out a couple of tasters and then picked out a white wine for herself. The wine was pretty tasty and it was definitely a generous portion. After sitting there for a while, we also decided to grab some bread with pesto on the side. It took a sec for it to come out, but it wasn't bad! Nothing extraordinary but I wasn't expecting anything super gourmet, so it was totally fine. Um WOW, the goat cheese was SO GOOD. Like so good. You should visit simply to have warm bread and goat cheese for girl dinner. This is a great space to spend an afternoon or evening. He was delightful in a quirky way and extremely knowledgeable about everything!! I tried 3 of the wines before I decided on the red. I forgot what it was, but there was a cat on the label. The Hippo is a super cool wine bar. They don't have food, but they do have snacks for purchase.
