We didn't have a fenced in yard and my pup just needed somewhere to run. City requirements made me so much more comfortable with the other dogs in the park, knowing that they were also vaccinated and registered. The secured entry ensures that not just any dog off the street can wander in. The other dog owners are friendly and responsible. Everyone keeps a close eye on their pet to ensure that play doesn't get too rough and poo is picked up. If someone misses their dog pooing, other folks will either help find the 'land mine' or often pick it up for them. There are multiple water bowls and a faucet with fresh water to fill them up at (which owners take turns doing regularly). There are two separate play spaces, one that's ~four acres and another that's for small dogs under 22lbs. The facility contains several benches and waste receptacles with free dog waste bags. The many "regulars" at this park form an awesome community. Everyone chips in to keep the park in tip top shape, owners know almost all of the others dogs' names, watch out for each other's pets and share both funny stories and useful info that can only come from another dog lover. There's even a playground outside of the park for the kiddos - dog park outings are fun and active for our whole family!

Good size with two areas, one for small dogs and the other for all dogs. Bowls and water is available, even a port o john for people. Only wish there was more trees within the dog area because shade makes for happier dogs and humans. So far all dog people seem kind, professional and aware of surroundings. The majority of responsible dog owners who actively seek out dog parks to socialize their pooches are truly responsible dog owners, updating annual vaccines for their well behaved pups. I couldn't be happier about a place where my dog can just be a dog and meet other dogs (dogs, dogs, dogs!!). The park is HUGE and split into two parts (small and timid dogs on one side and big dogs on the other). I like this feature because it can be intimidating for an owner to watch their small 5 Ibs chihuahua try to run and keep up with the bigger breeds. The park usually has bowls for water and a fresh water supply (but it is turned off in the winter months). The park provides plastic bags to pick up after your dog and deposit his/her business in the receptor. They also salt around the park (during the icy season) with paw-friendly salt so you don't have to worry about it hurting your pal. As a visitor of the park, you'll need to register your information with the city and get a key fob. Novi shares its dog park with the city of Northville so as members, you can take advantage of both locations. The park is a fantastic avenue for dogs to get out their energy and play with their own kind. My dog enjoys the park so much and I enjoy it too because he sleeps for hours on end after a visit :-)

Admission is free, and there are so many great learning materials for parents who love teaching their kids hands-on. We spent most of our time at the nature center, where the kids got to see a rabbit(you can pet it),turtles, birds, snakes, fish, rats, and more. They even have a bee hive on display, which was a huge hit. This place is ideal for kids! The staff is extremely friendly. They even allow you to touch some of the animals. There's so much to see and learn. After exploring the nature center, we headed to the playground, and they also have trails if you want to get some fresh air and walking in. My three kids had an amazing time, and we didn't have to spend a dime to make it happen. Highly recommend for families, schools, and homeschoolers alike!

On my inaugural trip I biked the buttery smooth cycling trail taking a loop through beautiful woods, a circuit just long enough for some scenery and exercise but without any what-did-I-get-myself-into exhaustion. They have an absolutely lovely bike trail out here in White Lake, one that I'd judge to be second best in the 13 park Huron-Clinton Metropark chain, trailing only the magnificent Kensington which makes a full circuit of Kent Lake. I was a bit bummed on my maiden voyage here that I couldn't make my way into the Discovery Center as it was booked for a wedding that day. I really wanted to see the pond dome, a basement aquarium that's just a big observation bubble beneath the surface of a pond. Them's the breaks; they gotta pay the bills and it did sound like an intriguing place to get hitched. Last week I made the drive back out here to get my pond doming in. It was really cool, but also slightly underwhelming. Not a whole lot of fish or much variety of fish and no frogs or other reptiles to be found. The dome was pretty sludgy in places but I could still see over 20 feet into the pond as demonstrated by a series of targets with labels showing how far away they were. Other reviewers have complained about not being able to see far which makes me wonder how often it's cleaned. It's really gotta be a serious pain to keep this dome free of algae and pond scum and what not. At any rate it was in reasonable shape on the day I went. And I wonder if the time of year figures into how few fish I saw. Maybe I'm spoiled by aquariums that stock aquatic life rather than this honest to goodness look into actual nature. Like I said it is really cool but it also didn't quite live up to the initial thrill and jolt of wonder I got from first walking into it. I didn't see a whole lot else in the Discovery Center either but the taxidermied wolf near the entrance is something else! I also walked a shorter nature trail on my second visit here. It was a loop around a hill with tall grass. There was another pond to look at but really the views weren't that great. I also wasn't far from the park's main access road - not do naturey. I posted one pic on Instagram of the overcast gray October sky above the tall swaying grass that I thought looked like could have been the moody inspiration for a Van Gogh painting and it only got four likes. So I don't think the trails that navigate fields here are so great. The longer hiking trails that wind back through the woods look a lot more appealing. Perhaps if I manage a third trip out this way I can tackle one of those. All in all, this is a fine Metropark but doesn't have nearly the amount of attractions as some of the other larger parks in the chain. Maybe cause it's out in the boonies. There's a kids splash pad but no place where I as an adult would feel comfortable cooling off with some water. There's golf but no disc golf for us frisbee throwers. All my grousing about this and that on here is mostly nitpicking. This is a good park and I'd probably have it at five stars if I lived nearby. But I don't so four stars it is.

I found it from a friend who has their fire dog buried at the cemetery, so of course I had to check…read moreit out. Parking is on 11 Mile Road not Milford like google maps says. Parking lot is brand new as well as the entrance. There are some interesting memorials throughout the cemetery. I liked the Vietnam Memorial, kind of interesting to know 4,000 dogs didn't come home. Of course there are some new dedications up for police, fire and current military dogs.
