Our dog has been going here for 7 years.He goes for a play date in the morning and nails and bath in afternoon.He also stays there when we go on vacation.We never had any problems .Max is always ready to get out of the truck when we get there.That makes us feel better about leaving him.We were so sad when we though they were closing and so happy they found a new place.We also feel there prices are very fair. read more

Never again. This place should be shut down. I arrived for what was my dog's first day of doggy daycare at Bark Central (Chambersburg) and the staff arrived from a back room, took my dog's leash from me without making eye contact or acknowledging me, and took her to the back for her day of day care. There's no clear view of the daycare portion of this place. The fence outside has an ugly black tarp all the way around it, and the inside is very closed off. I had that really uneasy feeling but thought it was just "first time mom" nerves. I had seen good reviews about this place, and it was really busy with several people dropping their dogs off for the day, so I figured I was just being overly protective and was just in the middle of the morning chaos. When I arrived in the afternoon to pick my dog up, they brought her out to me caked in mud and smelling like dog pee. She looked as if she was on the bottom of a dog pile getting pummeled by other dogs all day. My dog, who never wants to leave anywhere that I take her, was desperately trying to get into my car before I could even get the door open. This review unfortunately doesn't stop here. I got my dog home and gave her a much-needed bath because of all the caked on mud and smelling like dog pee, and as I was washing her paws I noticed LARGE slices in BOTH sets of pads on the bottom of her paws. It truly looked like someone took a knife and sliced my dog's paws open. I had to take her to the vet and they said that if the cuts had gone any deeper it could have caused significant tissue damage. When I called Bark Central to speak with someone about my dog's injuries, I was told by the staff on the phone that my dog had been playing on the "gravel lot" and the gravel may have cut her feet. No concern on the other end of the line, no apologies or offering to make the situation better. I was given the runaround - "I'll tell the manager to call you." I never received a return phone call. Needless to say, my dog will never return to this awful place, but I will tell everyone that I know to never take their dog to this hell hole. We are from out of town (vacationing to Gettysburg) we brought our fur baby , Rosco , along with us. He loves being with us but seemed to be a little bored riding along with us the first day while we were out sight seeing. I looked online for a doggy daycare and Bark Central was the first to show up! I am so glad we chose Bark Central to take our Rosco for the day! The staff was very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly! We felt comfortable leaving Rosco in their care for the day (if we needed to board him overnights we would feel comfortable with that too .) He was excited to see us when we picked him up but we could tell he really enjoyed his day! We will definitely bring Rosco back to Bark Central if we're back this way vacationing! read more

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible grooming service! I asked for a good trip on my sheltie and got a buzz job. She didn't even do his from legs and feet. Totally uneven all the way around his head. Clipped his private parts and made them bleed. Now he's wearing a cone for the next 2 weeks until it heals up. Absolutely the worst I've ever seen or experienced. read more

They play and supervise the dogs, ensure all have a great time and always have clean water/shade, and a place to rest between play bouts. She goes there for doggie daycare nearly M-F every week and we board her there when we travel. She's always happy to see us when we pick her up, but she's always excited to jump in the car to "go see Brie's friends" the next day. We brought our two beagles here for the day while we attended the Apple Harvest Festival. The staff are extremely friendly and professional. They gave us a full tour of the entire facility which was very clean and spacious, and explained the activities and play time they had available for the dogs. We (and our dogs) received personalized attention and were very catered to. We also opted to have their nails trimmed and were very satisfied with the service. This place is an incredibly great value and we will certainly be repeat customers whenever we are back in the area. read more

I wasn't very happy with my dog's experience at Bark Central. I think it was just not the place for my dog. Before I sent my dog to Bark Central I called them about whether or not they kept little dogs away from big dogs and they assured me that all the dogs were supervised to make sure they had complementary temperaments. My dog is not a rowdy play by jumping and biting each other type of dog. He started really not wanting to go, so I double checked to make sure they weren't putting him with super hyper dogs and they treated me like I was the overprotective pet owner. When he came home with an inch wide gash in his back I decided to stop sending him. I'm pretty sure one of the other dogs just got too playful, my dog is very submissive and a little timid. They said that they hadn't noticed the injury but that my dog had been whining and definitely not wanting to be there. It didn't sound like they had the best supervision. They wouldn't give me a refund of the days I had already paid for and they called me back after I sent them pictures and said they were thinking he might have tried to escape through a fence and scratched himself, even though they never saw him trying to escape through a fence. Since no one really knows what happened and my dog really seemed to dislike it there, I decided to just shake it off, let them keep the money and never do business there again. read more

If you want your dog shredded and an infection starting right away due to Bark NOT CALLING YOU to let you know your dog got injured while they were NOT BEING PHYSICALLY WATCHED (an actual human, not a screen), then sure, go ahead, subject your best friend to this horrible "care." You will have to deal with your conscience after I told you so and something bad happens. I feel horrible for sending my dog here. It took over two weeks for my dog to heal and my dog is going to have awful scars...and I took my dog to a vet, although since I wasn't called and and my pickup time was after 5, I had to wait until the next day--too late for sutures. If I would have been called right away, I could have gotten into a vet and the woulds properly secured (sutures). Five hours after they are even noticed (and again...I'm not called) is too late. And guess who had to foot the bill...yep, ME! So I paid for a day of "Day Care" and a vet visit! Since this has happened numerous vets and other kennels have told me horror stories of cases they've seen come in after being to Bark (1 case of a death that I know of and two owners suing each other due to a fight). No one was surprised as soon as I said my dog was at a "day CARE" and got injured...they all knew right away where this happened. My poor pup was to have a fun day and here my dog was injured and scared and in misery all day until I picked my dog up. I would not subject your animal to this. Dogs are pack animals...this is not a smart thing to even do with your animal. read more
