They sent me to South Florida where, for the first five years of my Federal Law Enforcement career, I was a Special Agent, assigned to Marine Drug Interdiction. In addition to that experience, I have owned and operated boats since the mid '70's. I am an experienced Boat Operator, and I have a 100 Ton Ocean Master's Certificate. In late 2019, we replaced our Scarab with a 2020 NauticStar 2302 Center Console, a design favored by Law Enforcement everywhere. We bought the boat from Coast to Coast Marine in Somerset, KY who recommended Sick Speed Marine to install the electronics. I like a boat outfitted with the equipment I am used to - VHF, RADAR, SONAR, Directional Remote Controlled Searchlight, etc. I've found that most local boaters do not use VHF radios - a must have option in South Florida where this boat will spend much of it's time. My friends would characterize me as being somewhat "OCD," and others might use more colorful adjectives but, suffice it to say, anything less than first rate equipment, properly installed, and fully functional is wholly unacceptable to me. The sea is an unforgiving place, and on more than one occasion, my safety has depended upon it. I was offered a fair price, and I accepted the proposed invoice as written, with the understanding that everything would be professionally installed. A lot of the other places act like they could careless if you buy or not, but these folks actually want your business. They were helpful and answered all of our questions and knew their sheds. They had great selections, some of them repo's with good prices. They get 5 stars for great delivery. We needed a shed asap, and they delivered when possible. We went back and bought a worshop and they also delivered and set that one up within a reasonable time. I like that they have a maintenance warranty so if anything happens within a year, they will come out and fix it. So far, the sheds are workng out great. I may go back and buy a cabin from them and turn it into a guest house. They have several cabin models as well, covered carports and barns.

The store shows its age, there are things placed here and there, so remember to take a good look, you might actually find what you've been looking for. It's always nice when you accidentally run across something you haven't seen in 40+ years. That's how I felt about Shelton's Store. It reminded me of my local convenience store in my neighborhood when I was 5 years old. If I had a dime, it magically turned into a candy bar once inside the store. :)

It has charm and character you won't find in a Shell or Speedway. There is usually a group of regulars hanging out at the front chatting. The store is surprisingly large but dark and pretty dusty. The variety of items on the shelves is actually pretty funny and some of them look like they have been there for 40+ years. The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.

If you think they may not have it in stock you may be surprised as I have been a number of times. Also if they don't have it you can ask them to bring it in and they will work to accommodate.
