I really love coming to this Barnes and noble. I come here mainly to take up some time or to run in to grab a quick magazine. I find the energy here very positive and inviting, ESP for Boca. I like the set up which is two stories. The additional story makes the selection process so much easier to find what you're looking for. The magazines are always well displaced as are all the new released books. As a bonus they have a Starbucks in a small nook off to the side. The down side is the SBs is always very busy. But it's very convenient, the coffee is usually well made. read more

I love this bookstore. It's in a great location, the staff is always helpful; I've never had a bad experience here. My one complaint (and reason for 4 stars instead of 5) is the lack of seating. This location used to have an entire section upstairs for studying. This was a godsend as a student at FAU. Now, they not only took out the study section but there's not one chair to be found. I went here last night and I saw people sitting on the floor. Why not make the experience of coming to B&N fun so people want to come back? Nothing quite says "get your shit and get out" like not having any place to read a chapter or two out of the book you're considering buying. I understand you want to make a profit, but bookstores are on the decline. If it gets to the point where all I'm doing it picking up a book and bringing it to the counter because there's never enough seats in the cafe and there's now nowhere to read upstairs, I might as well use Amazon to buy my books. People go to bookstore for the experience. Please consider adding a few chairs, B&N. read more

What a nice, large Barnes & Noble, and in such a great location, too! We seem to have lost almost every Barnes & Noble in Miami, north of Sunset Place, sadly. I am not sure why that is, we had one near Aventura that seemed full, and the people in Aventura tend to be cultured, but I guess more and more people are switching to Kindles and iPads. As for me, there is something about having a book in your hand, feeling the paper pages, sometimes weathered from years of being passed down or stored somewhere, that is simply charming, and cannot be replicated. Like the Barnes & Noble in Kendall, this one is huge, and with the standard Starbucks in the lobby downstairs. There are tables for study groups, or enjoying a drink and a bite. The usual Barnes & Noble array of books can be found, categorized by genre, and then, alphabetically. I was a bit disappointed by the selections, as there were specific books and authors I was looking for (like Thomas Wolfe's "Look Homeward, Angel" for example), and either they only had one book by that author, or they had a lot of books by that author, but not the one I was seeking. Perhaps that is a "chain" issue, rather than a "specific branch location" issue, so I will let it pass. I usually head to the "sales" section for discounted books, and that is where I will pick up something on occasion. I have 4 books coming in the mail that I will be tackling within the coming weeks, so I did not buy anything this time. While there were a lot of people hanging out in the bookstore and also at the tables by the Starbucks, there were no lines to check out in either of those locations, which is great. Then again, they were open for at least another hour. I do think that people living within a reasonable distance need to appreciate the convenience of having a bookstore like Barnes & Noble nearby, with sufficient parking. Some of us, aren't so lucky! read more

The cafe here is very slow and never get things right. Doing something simple like serving an espresso in a porcelain cup seems to be beyond the wit of the staff. A line that could be served in 3 minutes takes 10. Complete lack of management and poor organization read more

I definitely wont be coming back here based solely on the barista in Starbucks who's a total bitch. She comes up to people sitting in the cafe at various tables and tells them to leave if they aren't having a coffee. As someone who has used this Starbucks to cater events at various offices, along with others in my family doing the same, I've spent hundreds of dollars here. The woman working here with the thick "island" accent, tan skin, walked up to me and asked my order. I told her I was not having coffee but instead deciding which of my two books I would choose purchase (each over $18, triple the cost of coffee) She snapped at me and told me that if I did not get coffee I would have to leave. I said that I did not bring cash in and was going to be going out to my car after deciding on my books. She replied that, "The cafe is for paying customers only...you can go out to your car now or leave." She has seen me time and time again at this Starbucks. I always get coffee here while doing the same thing. It just so happen, at this odd hour, I did not want a caffeinated beverage. I said "Okay I will leave...I am not going to be forced to drink a coffee at this instant because you are telling me to." Much like most of the employees who have bad attitudes when they should have service with a smile, she better watch herself. People who like caffeine don't take s*** from anyone, especially older, unqualified, uneducated "baristas." read more

For the most part this is a great store to visit if you love books. There aren't many other places left of this type so typically this Barnes and Noble is a great place to hang out and browse. Why the low review? Well I'm writing this as a wake up call to the management of this store to be aware of a specific staff member who is driving their customers away and the cause of the one star rating. Most of the staff here is helpful, some are great, but there is one in particular, a cashier named CINDY who is constantly rude, mean spirited, lazy, and always a hassle to deal with. I have been a customer there for years and have observed and been treated by this woman dreadfully. As soon as you walk in she is loafing around, doesn't take care of the line, no matter how long it is, and if you do go up to her she is rude, has sarcastic comments, and is incredibly rude to the other staff who work there. What is up with that? Is there no management there to get rid of this woman? Or does she have somehow carte blanche to be rude to whomever with no consequences? Wake up Barnes, you have great staff here except for this one always unpleasant, unsmiling, bitter woman who is handling your cash register and is face to face with customers. Overall the store is a good place, just stay away from this particular cashier and you will be fine. read more

I went to this Barns & Nobles several times and every time I've gone it has always been a nice experience. The place is always clean and there is always helpful people working when I go. I love to go upstairs to browse around the kids section because my daughter loves to read. The kids section is really big. The location also has a Starbucks. read more

Two stars for the fact that its a nice big (two story) location.. HOWEVER the worst customer service. It took them over ten minutes (!) to figure out they needed to open a second register and that was when there was 12 people in line at that point. The lady at the register was rude and shouldnt work in customer service (like its my fault I want to actually buy something? Who does she think pays for her salary!) The guy at the register next to me at least apologized to his customer for the long wait. Would have been nice and the right thing to do. Will no way go back there! read more

This is by far one of the best Barnes & Nobles there is. It is very clean, and has a vast selection. I find myself coming here from west palm because it is more extensive than the other two locations I pass on the way here. You'll always discover something amazing. read more

Every time I come here to study and I am DISGUSTED by the bathrooms. By far some of the nastiest bathrooms ever. (More so than gas station!) They are obviously not cleaned on a daily basis or perhaps weekly. They reek, and are truly filthy. One toilet has been broken for three days now. Families come here. Today a Dad and his child left to use the bathroom at Whole Foods because both toilets were filled and covered in poo. Please Barnes and Noble, clean up. There is no excuse for this disgusting mess for your patrons. read more

Don't go to B&N between 3pm and 5pm. Two weeks ago we sat and listened to a loud and spirited group of teenagers who were clean cut and dressed very nice, but the filth that came out of there mouths made me blush. I'm no stranger to the "F" word, but using is every other word was disturbing. The manager of the store is either deaf or doesn't care. Yesterday we arrived early around 2pm knowing the young crowd would be there in an hour. We found a table that was empty but reserved for some Christian group doing cookie decorations. I asked the baristas if we could sit there as nobody was there. I was told by the baristas that it would not be needed until 4pm, so I said we'd be gone by then. At 3:30pm a diminutive gentleman told us we had to move and we should not have even sat there. I told the gentleman that we asked for permission and that it would not be a problem until 4pm, then he said they are already here and we would have to move. A kind gentleman next to us heard our plight and said he was leaving and we could have his table. After we moved two teens sat there and were laughing at us and said we're the ones who kicked you out. The male teen apparently wanted to add insult to injury and when he opened his drink he flipped the plastic tab on our table, not even glancing or apologizing for his behavior. I fault the "Christian" group who showed little Christianity from the man to the teens. As far as the manager at B&N is concerned, it's a free for all after 3:30. There's no control of guests, people yelling, tutors speaking loudly to their students, business being conducted for just about every type of business. I compare the atmosphere to recess at a playground. As I said earlier don't go the B&N after 3pm! read more

Very poor customer services. I walked up to the counter to make a purchase where their were two ladies behind the counter just chatting, so I asked them which one was open. There was one other register that was occupied. They pointed behind me and told me: "the line is over there," even though there was no one in the cordoned-off "line." While I was walking to the "line", they both closed their registers. There was the only one left still tending a senile 86 year old lady who took 10 minutes to make a purchase (actually she decided to make another purchase, after completing her extended first purchase). One of the women who closed her register looked on without concern even though it was obvious that the one open checkout was delayed. She made no attempt to assist me. I'll buy my books online next time. No commute or hassles. read more

Tried to return 3 bibles that were meant as a gift but realized the prints were too small. After looking to exchange it in store was unable to find the right print. Then looked at website and they were out of stock from vendor. When I tried to return it with receipt they said I needed my Credit card that was at home. Why do I need that if I have my receipt? Then offered store credit. Made me wait and waste time going from one line to another. Grew up with B&N but I will shop online with other companies. Customer service non existent. read more

The WORST buy online pick-up in-store experience I ever had. It was a complete joke! I ordered and paid for my books online, and I got a notification through my email that my items were available for pick up. I came up to the register, and the associate was giving me one book, and I ordered 2. I told her I ordered and paid for two and to double-check, but instead, she told me to head over to the customer service and let them know about the issue. So I went to the customer service and had to go through the whole process of explaining myself to the customer service associate that I was here to pick up the two books I ordered and paid online. At first, she argued I only ordered one, but another associate corrected her and pointed out that I had two books. The customer service person finally handed me my book, so I headed over to the same associate that tried to help me in the first place, only for her to tell me to line up again!!!! I felt discriminated against and was treated poorly as a Barnes and Nobles customer. I tried to bring up the attention to their managers, but after explaining the situation that I experienced, they were still pretty clueless at the end and told me everything was ok, and I got the book already. They completely missed my point and realized the conversation was going nowhere, so I just gave up and decided to leave. In the end, there was no reason to explain because they would never understand. It is a shame that this specific location in East Boca has very incompetent workers and can't handle good customer service, especially when faced with a situation that they are busy because of the holiday season. What can you expect a regular associate to think critically about upholding good customer service to represent the sinking ship of the bookstore business. I am very sorry to Barnes and Noble and the company's stockholders that you have employees who don't know how to provide excellent customer service skills to represent your company. read more

Of the Barnes and Noble stores in the area this one definitely takes the cake. It is often crowded which isn't always the best for book stores as it's hard to find serenity and focus in the chaos. Two stories of books - can't complain. They often have guests visit and do book signings, so I've been told. I wasn't aware of this until a few weeks ago when I had a head on collision walking in as Donald Trump and his posse were walking out from a book signing. The cafe is mediocre. I mean Starbucks always has good coffee; this one has cheesecake which is a plus. However, those behind the counter are a bit slow and I've spent more time waiting on simple coffee than I have standing in line to buy a book (which if you go to B&N often the lines can be pretty long). Overall, as long as I'm in the area I'm an avid fan. read more

Possibly the worst run B&N I've ever been to. Very disorganized and virtually no staff to assist. The computer said they had a book; but nowhere to be found. The escalators were BOTH out of order. I bought my stuff in customer service and they ran out of bags, so I went to a front cashier named Taylor. She was very rude when I asked for a bag she insisted on seeing my receipt so I looked in my backpack I showed her my first receipt because I came there originally for a pick-up and tried finding my second receipt. I couldn't find it I told her who checked me out so then she started asking a bunch of random employees if they saw me buy my stuff while holding my magazine. I work in customer service myself and how she handled the whole situation very inappropriate. Then when the other cashier confirmed my purchases she started arguing with him about me. And when I apologized for created a scene she walked away from me. And that's why I'm writing this review so hopefully she'll see this and treat the next person with respect and the benefit of the doubt. read more

I like B&N but I am tired of finding books at full price that are cheaper on their online site. What is the point of the store? Seriously?

I came in here to pick up a book I ordered online. I had a 15% coupon that beat Amazon's price on this particular hardcover by a few $. I ordered it yesterday and received a text saying the book was ready to pick up. When I went in today to pick it up, the information counter salesperson told me it was put behind the cashiers. When I went to the cashier, they were unable to locate the book amongst other books put aside and the sales person had to go find another one on the shelf. I was on a lunch hour and did not really have much time. I also wondered what would have happened if there were not another copy on the shelf. Unfortunately for retail, this is why people use Amazon. No driving, parking, gas, waiting at the store. Next time, this is what I will do. Aside from that, this is a nice store. read more

This is a great B&N bookstore in a convenient location (lots of places to shop and dine nearby) though it can get really crowded. Despite that, the store is two levels with a huge selection of books, magazines, CDs, movies, games, etc. and you could easily spend a couple hours just browsing around. If I don't want to wait for a book to ship from Amazon, I like to make a quick trip here to get what I'm looking for. read more

This is a nice large store. It is well stocked and has an excellent section for nooks. It is located across Florida Atlantic University.

Huge store & it has a great layout plus cafe. Easy parking too. I could definitely spend some time and money here. Also there's outdoor seating. This is the gold standard for Barnes and noble. read more

I was looking to buy a specific book, and I live in the Boca area, so I checked on BN website and I saw they had it in store, and that it was listed on the website for $6.87. I went in the store, found it right away, and proceeded to the register. When I got to the register, the cashier told me the price of the book was $25. I thought this must have been a mistake, so I pulled out my phone and showed her the online price for the book. She then told me that they don't match prices on THEIR OWN WEBSITE. So basically, I can sit on my couch, order the book, pay $3 shipping, and get it delivered to my door for less than half the price of what it would cost to buy it in store? Are they trying to go out of business? This makes absolutely no sense read more

Best way to spend an afternoon is to grab your coffee and a good book. This place is perfect just for that. With the two floors, there is more than enough options to satisfy the curious reader. There's a bunch of places to sit, including couches on the second floor. It's a very relaxing environment and perfect for a reader looking for a quiet place to settle. read more
