Standard Barnes & Noble. Each one is about the same. Books always slightly overpriced compared to what you can find online. Same with toys/LEGO. The staff is friendly and helpful, and sometimes it is nice to look at books in person. To just browse for ideas. They also do occasional childrens book readings, and activities. We did a "build a LEGO jack-o-lantern" activity, which was a big hit. Hope to see more of those in the future. read more

It's been a really long time since the days when going to a book store was something I did for fun. When I would go sit in front of the fireplace, get coffee and go back and forth from my seat to collect more books that I had to have. When I would go to the music section, put on headphones and listen to a new release, and decide if I couldn't live without it, or if was "meh." I have been guilty of downloading books onto my iPad unless they were something that I simply had to own. That I had to hold in my hands and turn the pages. That I had to look at on my end table , or in my bed till I finished it and then had to forever see it on my bookshelf. So when a friend asked me if I wanted to make a run to Barnes and Noble. I said sure I need to get out of the house. It's certainly not the same experience, but then nothing is is it. They had lots of marks all over the floor to make sure we remembered to maintain a six foot space. Everyone was wearing a masks, customers and staff alike. People were doing their best to stay away from each other if they were in the same isle. When I needed help finding a a trilogy of books , there was a staff member near by working on straightening shelves. He was very pleasant and knew exactly where the books I was looking for were. And he took me there rather then pointing or directing me. The staff member at the check out counter was very pleasant and asked if I wanted to by a paper bag for .05 or just take them. She was very cheerful, my friends check out clerk was very professional if a bit chilly person. So there wasn't a fire to sit around. The tables were few and far between. Virtually nobody was buying a coffee or a snack. So through no fault of their own the whole environment isn't what it once was. But they did a good job of maintaining the protocols to keep people safe. The store was clean and neat. The only thing I think they fell short on was that there weren't touch less hand sanitizer stations. There were some hand sanitizer bottles on the counters. And though I much prefer to go to and support a local bookstore , sometimes that's not the circumstances I'm in. So if you need to stop at the book store, they are doing a good job. read more

Barbie asked me how it feels when she pours acid on me, and also if it's ok for her to bullsh** me. I said "Burns, and No Bull." Right on the Boulevard in the new Boulevard Shops which are extremely busy and difficult to get into - and if you come at the wrong time of day you can sit for ages just trying to get in or out of here. They sell my albums in store - or used to, I didn't check lately. The store isn't new at all - it's been here forever. But they've given the Mall around it a real makeover in recent times. My older review is as follows: What is the difference between Horses and Royalty? Well, horses are adorable, royalty are not. Obviously. But also: Horses like Barnes, whereas Royalty are Nobles. Ha. Ha. Ha. This B & N is an older one, a nice one with a crowded little magazine section where you can sit all day and read anything you want to (not including explicit stuff... sorry). It has a special place in my heart, even though B & N is massively overpriced and usually have severely bad attitudes (in my experience) when it comes to my concerts especially, in this store - where I have never performed - the manager of the music section was always really lovely to me, wanting me to be in the local music section, wanting me to play a concert here, and being very positive and supportive. So I have positive feelings towards this store for that reason. However as many will tell you, it's not as "good" for browsing, sitting, reading as the one on Transit which is bigger, fancier, and newer. Still, I have a soft spot for this store. read more

It was my first time going into Barnes and Nobles as I have just become an avid reader. I was trying to find a particular book and asked a girl if she worked there so she could maybe help me. She proceeded very rudely to show me her name badge and said "What do you think?" I was honestly baffled... a simple "Yes, how can I help you" would have sufficed. I work in customer service too, I get that sometimes we have bad days with annoying customers but holy sh*t what a jerk! Other than that, very neat store, but when you have such a large store with thousands of books, employees should be more open to help their customers. read more

My kiddos love B&N, and this is one of the few in the WNY area. It's always clean and organized inside, the staff is very nice - sometimes they come over to see if you need help, and they have a great selection of genres. Really, who can get bored at Barnes & Noble! I particularly like this B&N because they carry a large selection of spanish books. I've been to the next closest one in town and they do not carry as much foreign literature for kids. My daughter is learning Spanish and I am happy they have chapter books for her reading level. The price is fairly similarly to Amazon so I usually get them at B&N (compared to english books which are cheaper on amazon). I wish they'd price match Amazon, I'm sure that would improve their revenue! read more

It's a great bookstore, but I am not writing about the bookstore. I am writing about the counter where one can purchase cookies and coffee. I don't pretend to know tax law, but know that bakery items purchased at the counter, with no table service involved, are not taxable in NYS. Buy cookies at a regular bakery or grocery store, no tax. Table service must be involved for there to tax. I was charged tax for cookies I bought which were put in a bag. No table service! read more

Not impressed, this location has had its ups and downs. After the fall of Borders as a company they tried to fill their place, increasing games, collectibles such but they don't do job a good job keeping said materials stocked or well organized. I've been a member for years, periodically they will email and mail 20% off coupons good for most everything but Lego (as per my tip) I recommend it. Back to this location, I assume it's not a high market location, although they had DVDs and CDs which their sister location on Transit does not they haven't had any remodels, not investment in appearance but they must be (I hope) doing good business since the items I like to shop for (using coupons) are never in stock. My biggest disappointment with this location however are they events they hold. Now I'm sure much of this comes from corporate but the events for Batman Day, Marvel or DC Day, Manga Day, etc are poorly launched. A table goes up near the cafe, if there is a free item they are put out along with any other items (most often coloring pages) with little interaction from employees and often no character interactions or greetings and directions from employees. I like brick and mortar book/media stores, I'm a long time fan of BN but I hope they, as a store and company turn themselves around. read more

I frequent this Barnes and Noble on a regular basis, usually at the very least three times a month. It's a convenient location with a fairly good inventory of books and there is a cafe on site serving Starbucks coffee. Staff are helpful and are always willing to order a book if it is not in stock. I've found the bookshelves to be getting more and more organized which is convenient and much appreciated. Prices are reasonable especially considering the competition with e-readers and monopolies like Amazon. My only complaint is that the wallpaper is literally falling off the walls in the ladies bathroom and I'm not entirely convinced the bathrooms are even cleaned and restocked regularly. Regardless - all in all, this Barnes and Noble is a fantastic place to browse for books, do work, enjoy a cup of coffee/tea, and/or use free and reliable wifi. read more

Love the welcoming atmosphere to sit and read or study for hours here. Something changes everytime I visit as it adjusts to trending times. The old CD and video alcove is opened up with board games on unique display shelves that make you want to buy every game. There are now vinyl records and a small rack of CDs with the entertainment books in another section. Lots of cookbooks and RPG and manga books and teen scifi. Cannot use Starbucks gift cards here though. read more

It's Barnes & Noble so for the most part you know what to expect, but this location in particular has some really friendly staff. They are really cool about you just hanging out all day and reading without any pressure to buy anything. I love coming here to work too as the Wifi in the Starbucks cafe here is reliable and I feel as if I'm in a nice library with endless resources at my disposal. It also has a great selection of books and I've been able to find books here that Talking Leaves didn't have. It's a bit far away from where I live, but coming here is always a pleasure. read more

Was really pleased to see a nice, big, well-stocked Barnes & Noble next to Trader Joe's. I'm as digital as the next guy, but I'll always love browsing bookstores, and I hope there will be a handful of these around for a while yet. They have almost every book you can think of, but overall it lacks the panache and ambiance of a used bookstore. You will be inundated by employees to sign up for the Barnes & Noble rewards program, which apparently gives you discounts. I was a member in the past, but you have to pay $25 per year, or something like that. I frequently get coupons via email all the time, without having to sign up for their membership. After looking for these books by author, I inquired if there was an LGBTQ section and was directed to 2 shelves in social sciences! I could spend hours on end here - seriously! Grabbing a few magazines or a book and sipping coffee or chai for a few hours without leaving the building is one of my favorite things to do. It's generally quiet, so studying here is another great option, especially before/after running errands at Target. I come to this location most often to study and get work done in the cafe. The baristas are pleasant and there are usually great promotions with the food and drink items. My parents have a b&n membership, so we get 10% off which pays for itself (a membership to b&n is $25 a year and includes promotional coupons and discounts, such as the 10% standard on everything from the cafe to books). I love perusing the shelves as well--I am a bookworm! They host some items at b&n now too--most recently they had a Harry Potter LEGO event, boasting special HP LEGO sets you can only get at b&n stories! And each participant got to make a LEGO snitch. They also had themed drinks in the cafe (think polyjuice potion Frappuccino). There are ample tables and they encourage patrons to relax and enjoy their beverages and food. read more

Staff here is the SWEETEST. So many people around willing to help you find what you need or give recommendations. It always helps when the people who work here have read a lot of books. I came in looking for a book for a class. I was given a list by my professor and one of the women who worked here was able to scan my list and tell me which was the most interesting. BONUS. Some of the books I was looking for weren't in stock but they are more than willing to order whatever you need. The area to sit and do work is fairly large, not enough outlets in my opinion though. Is print dead?? I came in here today to look for a book for my brother-in-law for Christmas. It was featured on Super Soul Sunday (my version of church) on the OWN Network and the message really spoke to me. Thought BIL would appreciate it too. I looked up the book on their search computer and it kept referring me to the e-reader version, but BIL is still a paper man, so the digital version would not suffice. I asked an associate. Said they had ONE copy in the store. Really... An Oprah-endorsed book and there's only one copy in the store? Went to look for it and came up empty handed. It drove me insane that the shelves (which should be alphabetized by Author last name) were a mish-mosh of nonsense. I mean, there was some semblance of order but lots of stragglers too. No doubt that ONE book is shelved incorrectly somewhere in the store, and I had to walk away empty handed, despite my 20% off coupon! The associate asked if I wanted to order it but I can do that from home. The hassle of this visit to B&N made me realize why I rarely come here anymore. As a Kindle owner I can attest to the ease of use of my electronic device. I can avoid dreadful parking lots, pushy people, frazzled sales associates, and order the exact book I want while at home, in my pajamas, and I can even read it immediately too. Plus, books are typically nicely discounted via e-reader, so there's no need for even a paper coupon! Now I understand why more people are switching from paper books to digital. Maybe I should just get BIL an e-reader with the book already loaded on it... That may have just answered my original question... Is print dead? I have no doubt! My favorite hangout. I come in for lunch regularly, or coffee. Then I love to sit and read. Even. Though it can get crowded from time to time, the baristas always seem very cool and "with it", never harried or frazzled. The drinks are delicious, and the food is good. One issue, and this is really with the clientele: stop pawing through the books and magazines while you eat, unless you bought it! I see it so much, people reading books for free as if it were a library, ruining the binding making it harder to sell. It's a DON'T. Wish the store would say something about that. read more

I come here about twice a month with my book club. Book club usually goes something like this... Meet up, grab coffee. Talk about 5% about the book, 95% about other things. After about 45 min, we go walking around Barnes and Noble trying to find the next book. We're a wild crew. Tracy (AKA Hermione) in customer service is the greatest employee there! We often get in reading ruts and she is so great at recommending different books. It will be a sad day when she leaves. All-in-all, it is like regular Barnes and Nobles around America. Overall this store has helpful & friendly staff, especially Nick & Melissa. There is however a young man who is uptight & snotty EVERY time we deal with him. We spend a lot of money in this store & resent being scolded by this person. I'll spare his name,but the slight-of-build guy with dark curly hair (commonly in a vest) sniping @ everyone is easy to spot. I would say ordinarily small Barnes and Nobles in a suburban area of Buffalo. In comparison to other ones it has very limited reading space. So far I am happy with the location and selection of books, friendliness of staff members also adds up to a positive remarks. We went there today, knowing that they have Starbucks cafeteria I had my rewards card with me, but ah and oh they don't accept phone payment systems due to being a non official Starbucks sellers, as one of baristas explained to us. It was surprising. P.S. If you like sweets and haven't tried pastries that they sell at Starbucks café from Cheesecake Factory, you're not loosing anything. They would not let me speak with a supervisor, kept reading policy at me rather than try to resolve my problem, and i was told that they have the last word!!! What kind of customer service is this. Does anyone just love the smell of books when entering a bookstore or is that just me. Like most bookstore Barnes & Noble doesn't just carry books but a variety of items, including cds, records, toys, and games so it can appeal to those who don't find as much enjoyment in books. What I love about this store is that I can just get lost in the store for hours sometimes just browsing all the books and things they have to offer, or sometimes just sitting down at the Starbucks with a coffee at hand reading a book. While I am guilty of buying an e-reader (prefer the convenience of it while traveling) I still prefer to read either hardcovers or paperbacks. There is something about actually having to physically having to turn the pages, that hitting a button can not compare to. What I love about this store is how helpful the associates are, one time I wasn't able to find the book I was looking for, and the associate when in the back to find me a copy or was willing to call other stores to find for me, or order me a copy of the book online. This has to be one of my favorite stores in the area, I just wish I was closer to me. read more

I like to study in BnB. They have a cafe with coffee/tea options, the best tomato caprese sandwich I've ever had, and a welcoming peaceful atmosphere, with books surrounding you. In fact, you can start reading a book right there before buying it. That's also a part of the BnB culture. Overall, it's an awesome combination of a library and a cozy coffee shop. I just wish they had more vegan food options. But they at least have non-dairy milk read more

Although I don't tend to buy a whole lot of books from here, I do find it to be a great place to grab one of my fav. fashion mags and get some homework done. I tend to be pretty sensitive to noise when I'm doing homework, but for some reason this location just works for me, regardless of the noise. There are plenty of tables and chairs available for spreading out and hunkering down for a few hours, and often the music softly playing in the background is the perfect mix to get the homework juices flowing. Speaking of flowing.. they also serve Starbucks coffee, which definitely is a plus. Additionally.. their customer service in the cafe is awesome. The workers tend to chat with each other a little bit more loudly than I would usually prefer, but I honestly don't even mind because they are so incredibly nice to every single customer. Nice actually doesn't even cut it. They are welcoming and make you feel like they are really happy that you decided to come that day, which is HUUUUUGE to me. Even if they're chatting amongst themselves, they immediately stop what they're saying and doing when a customer approaches and they don't make the customer feel like they interrupted a conversation.. which seems like it would be a given anywhere.. but I can't even count how many times I've walked up to a counter and had to say "sorry for interrupting!" and I have never, ever had that experience here, or noticed that another customer was treated with anything but excitement and respect. I just love this place. 99 percent of the time I don't even buy anything. We just go to browse and play. They have a GREAT children's section. A very cute area where they do Storytime once a week, an awesome Thomas the Train train table to play with and a Lego table. They also have a pretty good toy selection as well. read more
