Barnes & Nobles used to be my favorite store. Not anymore. They have changed how they shelve the books, making them hard to find. I over heard a man training the employees and he said he wants the store to look like a store in the airport where a shopper can come in see a popular book buy it and leave. I have always enjoyed shopping for books taking the time to look at them to see if I am really interested in purchasing it (I buy 2 or more hard cover books a week). I also enjoy going to the cafe. If their attitude is going to be pick your book and get out, I'll go to an independent bookstore that appreciates their customers. If I wanted to pick the book and get out, I would just order from Amazon and have the book delivered to my door. Maybe rethink your new layout. read more

This B&N store is really well laid out. It feels less cluttered than the NF Blvd store, probably because of the nice, spacious, well it Nook area in the middle of the store. I came in here to make a return and found another book to buy. Believe it or not, the book- on clearance in store, was cheaper than on Amazon/for Kindle. I usually find books to be cheaper on Kindle, not so with this particular case. Also, if you have a family member with a member card, you can use it for a 20% discount. I use my Dad's all the time by phone number. I love me a discount! Will be back! read more

Barnes & Noble - I get most books on Amazon but every once in a while it's nice to grab some coffee and stroll the aisles! - Bookstores Near Me - Buffalo, New York

Any bibliophile's eyes will widen at the sight of this Barnes and Noble. It's huuuge. Still, something is lacking. Whenever I've come here with a list of specific books I've sought, it's been rare that I've found them. Granted, I'm not exactly looking for NY Times bestsellers, but I'm also not looking for out of print rareties. I'd be pretty amenable about the whole thing (after all, there's always Amazon or bookfinder.com to hook me up with my randomass sci fi, mystery, anthropology, or science/nonfiction cravings), but last weekend's messiness inspired this review. I went in looking for Patricia T O'Connor's "Origins of the Specious" (no sic there), and typed the author's name into the store computer's search engine (those computers certainly are a plus, as they let the customer search on their own, saving the effort of having to flag down an employee, which is good for folks like me). The results showed no copies of the book i sought, even though it was new and in hardcover. I did notice one copy left of O'Connor's "Woe is I," which I figured I'd pick up anyway (O'Connor has a wonderful way of writing about writing). The book was labeled as under the "grammar" section of the store. Barnes and Noble doesn't have a "grammar" section. Instead, I was able to track down my second choice book in the "reference" aisle. Hard to find - yes, but no major trauma. Still, as I turned on my heel toward the register, I noticed a small display in the back that had about 20 copies of "Origins of the Specious," which was the initial book I had been looking for (and by the way, O'Connor says it's a-ok to end a sentence in a preposition). This was the same book that the store's search engine couldn't locate. I was psyched to finally locate my book, but it sucks that it was completely by accident that I was able to do so, after looking it up in the store. How on earth didn't inventory register a bunch of books that were prominently on display? That's weird. To sum it up - BOO - Inaccurate in store search engine, asthma-inducing prices, mislabeled store sections, poor selection for those of us who aren't Harry Potter / Twilight / books with Fabio on the cover grubbers. W00T - Don't get me wrong - it's a big store, and the staff is pleasant. The bargain books are usually a good deal, and I always dig the "buy two, get one free" deals. It was here that I stumbled across "Wonderful Tonight" by Patty Boyd (ex wife of both George Harrison and Eric Clapton - an essential for any Beatles fan (though don't get your hopes up for a super compelling, blockbuster read)); a book I didn't even know was out there. I always find something interesting. There's also a few comfy chairs, and a coffee shop with halfway decent pizza bagels. A pizza bagel can part the blustery lake clouds if you ask me, and rain down sweet snackery goodness upon the unsuspecting bagel-deprived masses. In Short - A great place if you're looking for a decent read NOW and don't mind paying more for instant gratification. And for pizza bagels. Anything else, voila - Amazon. Oh and if the intricacies and indelicacies of linguistics tickles you, I do highly recommend "Origins of the Specious." I'm only a few chapters in, but am smitten already. Great store. The staff is very helpfull and nice. Big selection of books (love the discount shelves! you can really get some great deals on books!). The cafe is awesome! The baristas there are extremely nice, and a big plus...they have yummy treats! Sometimes the cafe lounge area get's too noisy and buisy, but hey it's good for their business! One down fall, their AT&T wireless internet if so slooow! I hope they'll switch up to something faster. Also, people will fight you over the seats near an outlet, so beware...many deaths lol read more

Barnes & Noble Effort! I cant say enough about Branes & Noble. Wow! How do they put so many books in such a big store? I am used to shopping for books' at K-Mart, and their section isnt nearly as big. They have books on cooking, and travel, and sci fi, and magazines, and sex (hehe) and history and classics and fiction and non fiction, and everything else. Some of the books' are kinda pricey, though. Maybe they could get in some used books for cheaper? You can get Starbucks there, to, but they got mad when I spilt some of my coffee on the Dr. Phil display. I think they should of thanked me. read more

I prefer this Barnes & Noble location over the Niagara Falls store. Every time I step in, I note to myself how clean and fresh it feels inside. Everything looks pristine. The layout is organized very well. I like grabbing a beverage, a new book I am about to buy, and finding a cozy nook to throw back a couple of chapters before heading out. Tip: ordering online is WAY cheaper than purchasing in store. If you go online, you can actually see the cost difference. They will show you the online price vs. the store price. They also offer a club membership for a percentage off, and free shipping, for an annual fee (forgot...$25, maybe?). I usually place orders online, however when I am in a pinch and want a book right away, I end up in the store, paying full price. read more

This would be the mother ship of all local Barnes and Noble stores in western New York. A large selection of a wide variety of topics, including calendars, date books, bookmarks plus any little tchotchkes that we readers absolutely have to have. Lap desks, totes bags, you name it. I could easily drop a grand in there inside an hour. The cafe is a nice addition, and while it is calls itself a Starbucks, it does not accept Starbucks cards as currency, which is kind of odd. read more

This Barnes and Noble is by far the BEST!!! It is huge !! PLENTY of seats and more books ect than any of the other Barnes!!! Check it out!!! Fully air conditioned , an added plus when it's soooo hot outside!!! read more

The appalling attitude and "customer service" offset an otherwise great store. I like bricks and mortar stores, but when patiently trying to ask a question, I was told quite rudely to wait (I hadn't even said anything; just stood waiting), and after ten minutes, the woman came back without apologies, "Can I help you?" as if my routine inquiry was a nuisance. Needless to say, I will not be back, at least to this branch. Management at this store needs to get their staff on board and learn how to smile and be pleasant. read more
