Went here to go get a book for my wife's friend, ended up staying around for the coffee shop vibes with the Starbucks ... which helped us make 2 book picks for ourselves. I love that the coffee shop is conveniently located so you can look through some books while sipping some coffee. Great book selection & overall value. The employees are helpful and kind! Love this location. Don't know what the Geneva commons would be without it! read more

This B&N is the last one left in our area, so make sure to drop by sometime! They've got a great variety of books, toys, games, vinyl records, CDs, DVDs, gifts, wrapping stuff & even a Starbucks. The store is in the commons which is extremely dog friendly, I walked in with my extremely well behaved dog and was told I had to leave because he wasn't allowed in the store and was told it was against company policy. Which it's not. They tried to say it's because of the cafe - however I've been in other B&N with my extremely well behaved dog (who is also a therapy dog) before and was just asked to not go in the cafe. I went to Barnes and Nobles for the first time in over a year because of my illness. I was hoping to order a hardcover book and to check on another book. The staff was extremely helpful but Barnes and Nobles does not go beyond their catalog. Amazon.com includes many more titles which is unfortunate for this bricks and mortar store. I was amazed with the positive changes in the store. They are trying to fill niches that you will not find in other places any more. They still have many books. The store has added more board games and school supplies. They still carry CDs as well as vinyl records. The cafe is a great place to go for a snack or for lunch. I believe we still need places like Barnes and Nobles for the community it develops as well as the ability to check a book out before you buy it. read more

I liked the size of this Barnes and Nobles but the back section where all the anime and figurines were was a bit messy and very spaced out. I wish there was more in the manga section, compared to the B&N's I normally go to. read more

This store was clean and organized. I haven't went to a bookstore in years since I usually order my books online. I enjoyed walking around and reading a few books. The sales associate who helped me was very polite and helpful! This location also has a cafe and I was given a coupon for the cafe when I made my book purchase! The book selection is amazing and the store is very clean! I drove forty minutes to get to this store, very excited to make a purchase. HOWEVER upon out visit today my two year old son and I went to the kids section. I walked ten feet away from the stage where my son was sitting with a book to put a book away. A middle aged man working there approached me and says "Are you even watching him? He shouldn't be banging the wall." I politely respond with a "yes" because i'm a young mom and I figured he associated my age with lack of skill and attention. And to be clear yes my son did touch the wall and the stage but there was no sign dictating he couldn't be on it and he did not bang on the wall. He came back and thrusted a wad of tissues at me. Again I responded with a quiet "thank you" because I don't like conflict. I put my purchases back and rushed out of the store feeling judged, uncomfortable and scorned. My son picked up on my emotions and began to cry. I won't ever be returning to this store and I hope that any other moms who experience similar from this man have the courage to speak up and defend themselves the way i didn't feel comfortable doing. read more

I can't bring myself to leave an unfavorable review of any bookstore considering that bookstores are practically extinct, so just the fact that this place is still around in our culturally impoverished era is a godsend. My only complaint can be easily swept away by some consideration of what retail employees are currently enduring under challenging circumstances. Retail used to suck before. Now, forget it, the job must be hell, and I regret that I add to that smoothie of dicey customer behavior by sometimes sliding into this location within 20 minutes of closing time. I just want to run in and grab something sometimes, and I'm fairly targeted (I hit the horror book section which is very good here for a big chain store). But wow, the attitude sometimes. Look, I get it, I've had this job. You're in hell and you want to count your drawer and get out of there and live your life again. I just don't think my buying a book ten minutes before closing... you know what, maybe I am an ass for doing that. The looks, though, the looks I've gotten, they haunt me. I'm sure I deserve it. I just wish things were better for people working here. I usually don't feel like apologizing for patronizing a bookstore, but every third visit or so this place gets to me. Still a very decent bookstore with a surprisingly complete catalog in this day and age. I always find something I want, and the occasional very tired associate ringing me up will not deter me from giving five stars. We all have our days. read more

I went to this location to return a textbook I purchased online from Barnes and noble, not a marketplace seller. The staff member I encountered was not adequately trained. First, she had to call a manager. Then she tried to tell me that the return could not be processed because I had ordered the book on October 1. But, I had only ordered the book on January 10 from barnesandnoble.com. Another staff member beside her, while filing her nails, then stated that this particular store did not accept textbook returns because they did not sell textbooks. Fair enough. I just wish it didn't take that long to get the correct answer. read more

I'm here often as the philosophy is you can never have enough books. Yes I get the fact that the electric reader is the hip, trendy way to go but call me out of sync. I still enjoy the heft of a book, the feel of the crisp pages and having something of substance in my hands. Nothing cold or sterile. Books that aren't on the best seller list can be pricey but the B&N membership helps. I can also usually find something in the reduced price area as well. This place is the best bookstore around (literally, since Borders is officially no more). If you have a B&N membership, you're getting the best deals in the store because they give you a significant chunk off just for being a member. This location has: Starbucks coffee, a large magazine selection, and announcements every 10 minutes telling people to "COME CHECK OUT THE NOOK". I don't know if that will be a positive or negative for anyone else trying to select a book, but I found it exhausting and annoying. I love bookstores. I'm a bookstore-aholic! Barnes and Noble is by far my favorite bookstore. Especially this location. First, The staff is always extremely nice and super accommodating. Second, the book selection is top notch. Third, it is always very organized and very clean. Fourth, it's never super noisy, everyone is very considerate. Fifth, I love the warm and comfortable feeling that this location gives. The only reason why I'm giving Barnes and Noble (in general) four out of five stars is because fortunately and unfortunately you can go on-line at barnesandnoble.com and buy all of the books you see at the store for 10% to 60% less sometimes. It's kind of a joke. It makes no sense and no offense, but they wonder why their locations are going under? read more

I was here this past weekend and I have to say its a really nice location. Its a bit smaller than in used to but everything was well organized and spacious and you are able to find what you need easily. We also went earlier in the morning so we didn't have to deal with a lot of people or anything. Now the reason I have four stars is because the lady at check out was very rude. She was offering us the membership and we declined because we rarely go to Barnes and noble. She got so upset she made a little noise, grabbed our coupon and then threw it when she was done. I'm sorry but we aren't going to spend money on something we don't really need when we rarely go. Other than that rude lady we would actually go back. I'm a big fan of this Barnes and Noble. Right next to my favorite local pub, the Claddagh. Their book locations are laid out to make searching fairly easy. I read a lot of e books but some books are made to be read by holding in your hands, particularly your favorite authors. I'm a history buff and their special priced areas in front are where I usually end up. I'll walk in to browse and walk out with about 3-books on American history, Medieval cultures and weapons, etc. I love their magazine area. Something for everyone. And it's right next to their Starbucks serving area and a mass of tables. Spent one night here waiting for one of the Harry Potter books to come out. read more

Just walked in since I was next door at locker room by lids (what a disappointment). Great staff, very helpful. I had 3 associates approached me if I need help find anything. I was at that location few months back and it was the same pleasant visit. They have all kinds of books that some of them they can't be replaced with e-paper book (kindle and stuff), just classics. Very nice selection of books for children which is nice since kids nowa days are on ipads and tablets. But this is not about parenting lol. I love the smell of book store I could probably move in there if they would let me just foe "free smells". But anyways I am happy and satisfied with my visit to Barnes at Geneva Commons. read more

What's a book store? It's one of those places that sells books. Weird eh? Not many left in this day and age. Look..I'll be honest, I was a Borders kind of guy...I just like their setup much better. They had a better book selection, much better prices and the cafe was cooler. B&N isn't a bad place to settle for, but mom and pop shop books stores aside, they have a monopoly on book stores, at least in this area. To be fair B&N does have a block of books on sale in the front of the store. They also have a vast selection of books in here to pick from and can order just about anything you want. Prices are a tad more than the average bear but then again, if you want to buy a book in person this is one of the only spots you'll likely find it. We usually come in here as a family and often camp out in the cafe to look through material. B&N is a decent place...I'm just thinking someone else could do it a lot better. read more

Easy to find any section you are looking for. Their children's section is HUGE!!! I came in here looking for the new Pigeon book...well actually the "Duckling Gets A Cookie" for my nephew, he is in love with all those books so I just HAD to get him the new one. Stopped by to get a few food magazines. The ones I wanted only had issues from April and June. I looked through everything they had in that section - Nothing current I was looking for. I know for a fact one had an issue out for August because I follow them on Instagram. I went up to the front counter to ask if they had the current issues and there was one checkout open and someone was paying. I got in line but a teenage girl came in from the side with her book she wanted to buy and when the man in front of me was done the girl swooped in front of me. The cashier saw me standing there next but said nothing. I just walked out. I'll find my reading materials elsewhere. read more

Even though this is a chain store, there is something comfortable about going into a bookstore. I love this Barnes and Noble. Nothing beats the smell of fresh-brewed coffee and paper with fresh ink. This place is a haven on a cold, rainy day. Books and magazines galore. Pop culture. Music. And a very helpful kids' book employee that knows exactly what my kids want (you know who you are, Knowledgable Young Lady with Curly Hair and Glasses!). Really disappointed in B&N. I called to ask if a book was in stock for my sons summer reading. The. lady checked, and said "No" so I went online to order only to deal with technical errors and I was unable to log in for 1 1/2 hours. And I was dealing with it the whole time. I reset my password twice and still couldn't log in. Called customer service, talked to a representative and she hung up on me. Long story short I called B&N again and asked if they can just order the book for me over the phone. ( why was this not offered to me before) ? The employee passed the phone to a Manager (not sure why) but the manager got on line and asked what the book was and checked to see if it was in stock and it was! Now I'm going on two hours, I tried to go back online to order again bc the book in store was $7 more to purchase than online. I've never had any online issues ever before. The customer service was terrible all the way around from store employees to customer service rep and the B&N employee for B&N members (separate number) yeah I called them too bc it the website wasn't letting me check out, due to another error. 2 hours later, I realized I should've just went to AMAZON PRIME to order the book, it would've been delivered next day and only $1.00 more than the sale price and B&N.com. It would've been less frustration. Very disappointed and will think twice before I renew my membership. read more

I came in with a friend looking for some books for a class. The employees were quiet but helpful and polite! We stopped at the Starbucks Cafe to get some drinks and sit down. My friend gave me her Starbucks app to use when I paid and the barista saw me walking up with the phone. I don't remember her name, only that she looked like early 20's and had braces. Before even saying hello she rudely told me they don't accept that app. I was unaware of that since I had never actually sat down there. I went back to the table to grab some cash as my friend watched her stand there with one hand on the register and the other on her hip. I finally got to order my drink and I politely said thank you when it came up but I was ignored and she walked away. Barnes and Noble is a great place to grab a book and has a large selection, but steer away from the Cafe if the barista has braces unless you want an unfriendly experience. read more

Lousy customer service. I came in to exchange several office gifts for an book I wanted. The sales person was struggling with the computer and asked for the manger to come to assist her with the machine. As soon the manger came in she quickly said no refund and there's nothing we can do in snobbish tone and then she walked away as quickly as she could. The sales person and I was puzzled and I collected my gifts and as I was leaving, the sales person apologized to me that she couldn't help me and she would exchange it if she knew how to properly work the machine. read more

This stores customer service is horrible. I ordered a book on July 11 and was told I would be called when the book arrived at the store. No call. On August 1, I called the store to inquire about my book. The person on the phone could not tell me if my book was there. I had to call back again and this time I was told the book was in and I could pick it up anytime. When I asked how long it had been there and why I had not been informed, I was told it had come in "the other day". I was not given any sort of time limit to pick the book up, just that it was ready. I had to go out of town, and returned the morning of August. 8 (today). To get my book. After waiting for twenty minutes while personnel searched the store for the book, I was informed that the book had been put on the shelf and sold because my pickup window time had expired. Of course, I had received NO call telling me that was order was being put on the shelf. I am beyond frustrated and will never shop at this store again. By the way, not one of the four people I spoke with (which included the store manager) bothered to apologize for the problem. Terrible customer service! read more
