This ofc needs no introduction! I adore this bookstore! I'm from an hour away and whenever I come to Joliet I make sure to stop by! Everyone is always super friendly!!!! I even stopped a worker just to talk about a book and she was happy to do so. There are numerous amounts of books! So many different genres and a beautiful kids section :) plus Starbucks heck yeah! It is a bit pricey but every Barnes and nobles is, and if you're on the reward system it helps a ton! Overall amazing. Only downside the Starbucks can't take gift cards :( read more

I would give them zero stars if possible. I had a bunch of small value gift cards that I've accumulated overtime. They would not except them because I did not have the original, but instead only the code and PIN number. It was easier for me to store them this way. Because of this I am now screwed out of about $120. I will never shop at Barnes & Noble again. this is no way to do a business. read more

Barnes&Noble has outstanding books and an extraordinary selection despite the customer service being very unsatisfactory. I went today to get some books when they told me my account wasn't set up correctly they said they couldn't do anything about it. They later called a manager named Dorothy who helped but then when she sent a verification email she kept implying that we were taking too long saying "It all depends on how long you want to wait". She said this a few times after I explained to her how this has been a problem for over a year now and I wanted to get it fixed so I could use my 30$ in rewards. I ordered four books for my granddaughter online from Barnes and Noble on September 9, 2022 , thinking this was an easier way to get the books, especially since I paid my membership and get free shipping. It has been a total nightmare ! They were sent out with UPS AND I WAS TRACKING THE PACKAGE. On Thursday I tried to track the package and UPS informs me that they have given the package to the USPS for delivery but I have no way to track it now. I got an email from Barnes and Noble on Thursday telling me my order would be delivered Friday(yesterday). No package yesterday and no package today! I call the store and they can't help me because they don't have access to online orders but I'm told that if I don't get it in the next few weeks to call them back. I found the help number and I'm told that if the package doesn't get here by the 20th, to call them back! I WILL NEVER ORDER ONLINE FROM THEM AGAIN. It's ridiculous! I ordered a hard to find book, for a family member, for Christmas. When I didn't hear back from them in a week I stopped in to check on the status. Barnes & Noble cancelled the order, and didn't bother to contact me to let me know. I found the book on back order through Amazon, for $15 less than Barnes & Noble was asking. I came here to study because it's the closest B&N near me, and this is probably the worst place to study. The music playing is SO loud. I understand it's a book store and not a library, but I felt like I was at an upbeat restaurant more than a bookstore... where people come to read or study.... The lay out is weird and it is FREEZING. It's February now and it's honestly colder inside than it is outside- I had to leave my winter coat on while studying. Beware no plugs in cafe for phone or laptops!!! And very difficult to find a customer service online complaint form. Will be calling tomorrow as the employee on shift needs a talking on customer service. My husband went to ask a cafe employee where the plugs were and her attitude was negative, NASTY, and disrespectful like she was better than us. She then said that it's an old building and that's why there are no plugs seeming to pull answer after answer from thin air. Even if I believed her (which building can get remodeled), B&N is losing money which is foolish on their part. Hey B&N if you want customers to read and stay to buy cafe items you make it a warm environment where they can stay and do their work without having to worry about their computer dying. **cough cough We are the type of people that stay and buy multiple items to get out work done. read more

"OK" is mostly about the Starbucks and the oppurtunity to thumb through non-virtual magazines that seem to now be $8 minimum. The not ok part? The restrooms are hhhhhhhorrible! I was like is this a bar on a Saturday night? I expected more from book readers! The employee coming out of the break room nearby looked at me and I took the oppurtunity to relay my disgust. He said that there was a lady that cleaned bathrooms every morning. I suggested that she either be fired or that he got some help. If Starbucks ever knew how dirty they were they would cry! I really liked Borders (before they went out of business) because of their "Bargin Book" section. I always avoided Barnes and Noble because they really just seemed too expenseive. After visiting a B&N for the first time in a while this past weekend I have come to learn they have a nice "bargin book" section just like Borders had. The prices don't seem as good as Borders was but since Borders is no more, this will do. I'll definately be back to take a better look at the selection. read more

This Barnes and Noble location is okay, but not great. They have never had a great selection and it seems to be getting worse. I prefer the location at the Promenade in Bolingbrook. However, the cafe here isn't bad and I seem to always be able to find a few books to buy in the discounted section. read more

I only made a Yelp account just to review this particular store. I would be giving it one star, except the people who work at the Starbucks there are absolutely exceptional. The reason I actually almost dread coming in here to is because of the manager or general manager, whatever he is. He is the rudest, more unprofessional person I have ever come in to contact with. I often come in to read in the tiny little lounging section they have in the middle of the magazine area, and more than once he has come up and yelled at a another customer for doing whatever he feels like they are doing wrong. I have even seen him make people leave the area simply for falling asleep in the chairs. Alot of the time its older men or woman who are waiting for the significant other / grandchild / daughter / son to return from buying books or something. I have actually been told not to put my feet near the table with sandals on (in the middle of summer!) because of the cafe on the complete opposite side of the store. I didnt have my sandals off or on the table, just on my legs stretched out under the table and crossed. I couldn't even believe that he was actually scolding me for being comfortable. On top of all of this, he often is yelling at employees in front of the customers for not "moving fast enough" or whatever else. There is something so comforting about the smell of Starbucks and Books in the same place. Whenever I'm feeling a little stressed and needing a little alone time this is one of my go to places. I have been coming here for over 20 years. I love grabbing a coffee and a book and nuzzling up in a corner all to my lonesome. They always have a really delicious array of sweet treats. Which I like to look at longingly though the glass display case and wish I could indulge fully. Coming here on a rainy day in the fall is my happy place. As anyone can see from the reviews on this merchant, the customer service here is not great. The managers always give an INCREDIBLY hard time when attempting a return. I got my dad a book for Father's Day and he already had it and I lost the receipt and when a return was attempted, it was a huge deal. They act like they know for a fact you've read the book and are now trying to get your money back which is obviously not the case. I'm really happy this is not my B&N, I came here because it is semi-close to my school and wanted to walk around and see what they have. This store is TINY, which I first is not really a problem, quality over quantity, right? Well, this store has decided to over look that. Their "History" section should be renamed "US History", because it only holds a small section of books pertaining to world history, mostly Nazi Germany titles. Their Christian life section is massive, I thought they only needed one book ;). Not much geography, science, or art, but as you can tell from the taste of the store, they don't want those types of books anyways. Ok so, Christian life books, teen romance novels and cook books can sum up this location. I did not have a good experience at the Starbucks here, only because the woman taking my order was annoyed that she had to stop talking to her co-worker to take my order, but everyone has a bad day, my drink was good. read more

They've got a good selection, but they always seem to be out of whatever I'm looking for. Even if their computer system shows that something is in stock, that doesn't guarantee they can find it. I'm not sure if they have a problem with theft or if things just don't get shelved in the right places, but it seems to be a chronic problem. The staff is very helpful though, and they'll order books in if they don't have them in stock. read more

The layout is weird and the people who work here need to take a customer service class or something. I went to buy a school book, pulled out my credit card "can I see your I.D?" Yea,Ok whatever. I show the lady my I.D she stares at it and my card to see if it matched, then she asked me how to say my name. Listen LADY!!! First of all who the heck would steal a credit card to buy school books? I am fully aware that retailers sign a merchant agreement and if you have a Visa or MasterCard they HAVE to accept your card even if you don't show an I.D. but I was too tired to educate her. Then she had the AUDACITY to ask me how to say my name as if I was a stupid criminal who didn't memorize the name of my victim. I'll stick to ordering my books from Amazon. read more

This is a very nice place to purchase books. There is a huge selection of Chicago and Joliet (local) related books. The magazine section is well stocked with a huge diversity of titles. Very much like the magazine store in Evanston at the El station. The staff is very accomadating and helpful. Another Barnes over charged on an item and they refunded my money without a problem. The staff is helpful and friendly. The only problem is that some patrons use the magazine area as a free library. I once observed an older fellow pick his nose while reading a gun magazine. He appeared to be camped out as there was a bunch of gun and weapon magazines stacked up next to him. read more
