I needed a special type of book for a relative who is in a facility in Webster. I was coming from my doctor's office nearby. I want to give huge thanks to customer service representative Terri who went way above and beyond helping me find the perfect gift. I haven't been in Barnes & Noble in a while, and I forgot how much fun it can be just grabbing a cup of coffee and relaxing and reading in a peaceful atmosphere. Huge selection of Christmas books for kids but a tiny end cap ( that I had to ask where these books were) with a very limited and not great selection of Chanukah books. My second purpose of going there was to find Hakim Jeffries book . .. "ABC's of Democracy" and it was no where to be found ( with assistance)!! Really?? Very disappointed. Went to get Starbucks today, my bf went in for me and ordered a pink drink and they gave him a yellow drink that tasted nasty(pink drink was written on the cup) .. we start driving and i pick up the drink to find out there's a crack down the cup and it spilled everywhere and ruined his truck and ruined my papers I had in the car. 0/5 star review. read more

The Kids Out and About site advertised that the Webster B&N held story time and coloring or a craft for toddlers on a particular day so I decided to take my daughter. The site indicated two different times, 11am and 11:30am so I chose the earlier time in case the later was incorrect. When we arrived, there were two other kids playing in the children's area. I assumed they were waiting for story time to start so my daughter and I read a couple of books and she played with a few trains in the toy area. A few minutes after 11:30am, I asked the two g-mas who were there before us as to when story time would start and they had no clue about the event; just brought their g-kids to hang out. I asked the information desk located in the center of the store. The employee said they had it at 11am. I said we were there by 11am. She continued with a snippy tone that if there are no kids sitting in the story time chairs, then they don't do it. Dismissed. I was rather annoyed by this response as I brought my daughter specifically for this. There was no announcement that story time was going to begin. There are no signs that state, "sit here for story time." There were kids playing in the children's section before we got there. Why didn't the storyteller, if there was one, walk through and simply say, "Hey, we're going to have story time in a few minutes if you're interested." Even further, this was advertised as stories for "tots" so do they think that little ones are going to sit still in a chair and wait when there are books and toys they can play with in the meantime? C'mon. And that attitude when I asked....The only reason I gave them another star is because the woman who checked us out at the register was so friendly to me and my daughter. Smaller than the one in Pittsfield but it is clean and well organized. Not too noisy so it is good to sit and read. I got a coffee (flat white) which isn't bad. The red velvet cheesecake disappointing since the one edge of cake was too dry. read more

I'm baffled by the bad reviews, here. It's a Barnes and Noble. There's your standard Starbucks inside, children's book section, entertainment section, toy and game, and finally all the books. We love to grab coffees and wander the store aimlessly discovering new games, books, and magazines. The toy and game selection is great. They carry a lot of unique games and toys that you won't find at Walmart or Target. We usually walk out with a new game for ourselves or for one of our nephews. Selection of books is not as great as larger Barnes and Noble stores because they just don't have the space. Browsing the stacks as i normally do, there's always something that catches my mind. However, it can be a pain when your looking for a specific book and they don't carry it. Overall, it's a great local Barnes and Noble. read more

Customer service is poor, the true crime section is small, being over run by the crap load of sci fi and politics. asking for help is like murder to them, so if they are too busy, dont bother them! you are better off going to the B&N in Pittsford. I go there to not only to study, but its a great place to hang out and have coffee with friends. plus, Pittsford is a wonderful town with alot to do, so go visit! :3 read more

This Barnes and noble is tiny! There isn't a very large selection of books, specifically the study aids/reference books that I was looking for. There are no chairs with a table if you wanted to study. The only tables they had were at Starbucks. The pittsford Barnes and noble is much better! read more

My grandma, mother and I often come to Barnes and noble for our hangout stop, we find our next read and head over to the Starbucks to sit and chat. The workers are always super friendly and helpful. Prices are super reasonable as well. read more

Barnes and Noble is Barnes and Noble, right? So there isn't much to say about this particular location, except that it is smaller than the Pittsford one so it is lacking in several areas. I think that is also compounded by the larger-than-necessary areas of toys, puzzles, and games. That stuff is fine for bigger stores, but if there's not a lot of room to begin with, why make even less space for books? I mean, B&N is still a bookstore, right? The specific areas that I have noticed need improvement are psychology, [Jewish] religion, science fiction, and children. Psychology is lacking in specifically psych memoirs and books on OCD/hoarding/borderline. They seem to think cutting is a trendy topic and have thus stocked accordingly, and they also have more than enough Dave Pelzer books, but they don't even have fundamental psych texts. There's like not even a purpose to having this section since there's nothing in it -- except if you're unfamiliar with all psychology ever and are just browsing out of sheer curiosity and don't know what you're missing. Next, there's a large religion section....of christian books. Understandably. And there's even a handful of shelves dedicated to Eastern religions. But...HALF a shelf related to Judaism. And that's excluding the 4 books and 1 foldout map over in language relating to Hebrew and Yiddish. It's just shameful. Oh Barnes and Noble, anti-Semitic much? Onto Scifi. Science fiction is just generally not great. While they have a variety of titles, they're still missing a lot. Like psych, this section is best rifled through by people who have never read a book in the genre. Finally, children's books. Related to the overall focus on toys and puzzles and stuffed animals in the store, such is the children's area. If you really want to find a gem -- a gem that's over 5 - 10 years old -- you're better off going to your local library to see the plethora of books that have been published ever, and then hop over to Amazon and order them if you want to buy them. They have all the brightest, loudest, trendiest books/series and characters, but not a lot of classics nor a lot of lesser-known, "subtle" children's books that have literary merit, a la Newbery awards. Disappointing. Also didn't find anything Jewish in the children's section; even the Pittsford location had between 5 and 10 Jewish children's books (mostly Jewish children's illustrated bible and then, like, 2 books on Purim and 1 on Hanukkah). I would say "I guess Webster doesn't have a Jewish population or anyone with an interest in it" but no, that would be wrong, because I'm their customer, they're my closest location, and yet they don't represent me or my family at all. This location is kind of just a cafe and toy store that happens to have books. :( read more

Love this place! good cheap place to go on a date and good place to get together and look through books and magazines for free. Not the largest B and N in rochester, but for going for a coffee or buying a book it is perfect for me. They have a starbucks , however you cannot use a starbucks gift card as it is not an official starbucks but has the same selection. You get a discount on coffee if you have a B and N membership. It is not necessarily the best place to study, I have more luck at the public library. read more
