Barnes & Noble locations can really vary in product selection and this location is definitely unique. I stumbled upon a few surprises, like finding a decent selection of graphic novels and a few racks of books in Spanish, which isn't something I see at every store. While the clearance shelves, vinyl section, and tech books were limited, there was a sizable amount of teen, pre-teen and children's books, plus fun merchandise and toys, especially for Harry Potter fans (there was quite a bit of it). I love bookstores and could spend hours browsing but this location was missing one thing I really like and that is a nice coffee spot. I usually like to grab a cup of joe and relax while browsing, so that was a bit of a bummer. Definitely recommend this location for any type of bookworm. read more

Bookstores hold a special place in my heart. I love actual books although I don't buy many anymore. I go to the library because I don't have enough shelf space. Sad panda. But he was looking for a comic and some blind box cards so we swung by. The associate was personable and we had a great conversation. The prices are not far off online pricing and you can take it them home right away which I like. They have a sale section and also bargain books. And so many non book merchandise as well. DVDs and book lights, unique gift ideas and magazines. And you can sit and read a while. The children's area is cool too. So many choices. Parking in shared lot. read more

I am a big bookstore fan and am sad to see this location has changed over the years. The Starbucks that used to be attached is closed. That would be my favorite treat to get a coffee drink and browse while sipping away. There also isn't very many seating options and there used to be lots of chairs and comfy spots where you could take a break and read for a little while. The environment now feels very much get your book and get out of here. The prices also seem a little bit high especially compared to online competitors such as Amazon or target. Coming in to bookstore is always a nice treat and I do have a soft spot for the Glendale location but I'm sad to see some of the changes that have happened. read more

I thought B&N brick and mortar spots were all closed down before moving to Colorado, but nope - they are plenty in the Rocky Mountain state! Yes, I know I should support small businesses and especially bookstores because its the local shops that hold so many good memories and connections to their communities, but hear me out on this: It's crazy nostalgic to walk into this one. I'm transported back to the 2000s when I come here. Unfortunately, this spot is missing a Starbucks to complete my trip down memory lane. The kid's section of the store is lovely and my only minor complaint would be for them to add more seating throughout the store. For example, there's a kid-sized table with benches that draws my todd and me every time we're there. Just saying :) Overall, its a nice bookshop with a spacious environment to browse. read more

I'll try to make this as short as possible. Been a costumer here for years. Bought numerous things over the years. This afternoon, I thought it would be the perfect spot to kill time before i picked up my wife. I grabbed a book and sat for about an hour. Used the bathroom and walked out. As i was walking out, their shitty security sensors started going off. I had my car keys in hand and airpods in my pocket. I thought "that's strange" and proceeded to walk out. Then this older heavier lady screamed at me from halfway inside the store, "Hey! Stop!". So i turned around and waited for her. She said "whats going on? you have anything?" I chuckled and said "nope". She said, "oh... ok" . So i turned around and left, while she was still looking at me. Never treat your costumers like criminals. Barnes & Noble on S. Colorado Blvd. is well stocked, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I loved the after-Christmas sale.

I went to this location for an author event. They restricted the topics so much that the hour plus conversation we were supposed to have ended up being barely 20 minutes. The employees also skipped me multiple times while handing out sticky notes for personalization when getting our books signed. As a Deaf individual I felt very invisible and not included at all due to the employees very blatantly ignoring me more than once when I raised my hand to get a sticky note. The event was a complete rip off. I sent them a message about it and the manager basically told me that sometimes mistakes are made and that it shouldn't stop me from being a customer. Well if you blatantly ignore those with disabilities who deserve the same opportunities as everyone else, then you don't deserve my business. I'm also not thrilled with what little we got of the actual event from the author. I think even the author was disappointed as well with all the ridiculous restrictions. This store is not worth your time or money. read more

I've never felt so welcomed at a book store. Everyone was so polite and eager to help out. The staff was genuinely happy to be there and kind towards customers. I stopped by on a tip from a friend that they carry vinyl. The selection is small, but definitely has a lot of variety. I had to contain myself any not buy all the records. Also, does anyone else miss the smell of books??? I DO. It was so good to be surrounded by all those books and chill vibes. Everyone was practicing good healthy COVID prevention habits. If someone is in the aisle you were going to go down, just take the next one. It was not crowded - I felt at ease shopping at B&N. read more

I love this location. It's big, and there are very comfy places (though limited) to sit. I feel like they should place more of those random chairs around the store that I often find at other B&N. There's a nice sized Starbucks here, with its own bathrooms. It can be loud in the Starbucks, so I prefer to be on the B&N side. I had a relatively moderate seizure on Saturday, and on Sunday after trying unsuccessfully to order a sandwich 3 times from Whole Foods (my friend helped me and got me a sandwich, so all ended well) I decided it was a good idea to plant myself in a quiet area with a comfy seat until I was able to get myself safely back home. This Barnes and Noble just isn't as good without a coffee shop. One likes to grab coffee and sit and read after a purchase.

My wife and I went in to look for some Christmas cards. While in the store she used the shared (male/female) bathroom that is actually located in the attached Starbucks. Both bathrooms were gender neutral - so she had no choice to use a women's only bathroom. The bathroom was filthy and disgusting with urination on the floor. It was no better than an old style outdoor gas station bathroom that is never cleaned. This is even more disgusting when you think about the employees and customers are handling food and books that everyone is touching. The idea that everyone has to share the same bathroom is ridiculous and even worse if no one is going to keep it clean. read more

I've always liked this particular store because it's huge and they have EVERYTHING! So that's why we traveled across town to this store to get the Tokidokis my girl collects,because the store's website said they had 6 in stock. Okay so tell me why there were none on the shelf? Pretty OK place for me, though I feel the vibes I recieved at BORDERS are way better. Though I can find those "hidden treasure gems of books" still I feel, some of the books are over-priced. Even those discounted books, I can get them in other named chained stores or my "secret-book finds" for much cheaper. Its a chain store I cant deny that. I come here sometimes purchasing something but it has been awhile eversince our move. Our recent trip were last Friday evening of January 30th 2009 since we were in the neighborhood. The only time when we came to this store, is when Hubs will be taking his time browsing the video games next door, while I take my time browsing the books or magazines I like. The places to seat and read can be limited. I like to come during the "non-peak hours"... but so far its an OK experience either purchasing from this store or even when I want to browse for books or magazines. This is a huge Barnes and Noble.I was informed by a sales person that it is the largest in the region. It was nice to find it right near the restaurant where I was having lunch a little later. Since I arrived to the area a bit early as I was combining a string of events in area an hour from home, I decided to see what I could find. Which was a lot, even though I, personally, read exclusively on a full sized iPad because of compromised vision. The sales staff was cordial, the store, neat and well organized, and checkout was quick and efficient. I was able to find gifts for some children I regularly buy books for. For those with good vision, especially children, I believe that real books, printed on real paper is an awesome way to learn to love reading. But I would be a sad camper indeed if technology were not available to those who need it or like it better for whatever reason. This Barnes and Noble can meet all of those needs. It is also lucky that there is another one, and a good sized one at that, right near home. read more

Went here with my mom and grandpa. One of the ladies followed my grandpa around the store continuously asking if he needed help. He continued to roam around and he kept letting her know that he was okay. She followed him the the point that it made him uncomfortable and I found him outside waiting by our car. I was excited in hopes he would find a book since we are here waiting for my grandma to get out of the hospital. I know he's been bored. But he didn't find anything because he was being profiled the whole time and didn't feel comfortable inside the store. read more

This Banes is ok but the parking lot is a danger zone most of the time and the poetry section at this location is always so lack luster! I rarely find what I'm looking for here and the staff is never on the floor when I am wanting help, they all seem trapped behind the check out counter! Also this Starbucks does not except The coupons for Starbucks drinks that Barnes and Noble sends via mail to card holders which is super frustrating! They say they are separate form the bookstore but that's funny because it's inside of the book store! read more

Barnes and Noble simply isn't the cheapest option for buying books, but I will continue to support this location because of the experience it offers me. It is open until 10, which libraries are unable to offer, so if I need to get out of the house and find a quiet place to study I frequently use this as my escape. Everyone is always friendly, but not pushy. I am always greeted and asked if they can help, but after that they are available without getting in your face. I really love that I have a place to go to without fear of being hassled, which is the reason I will continue to support them despite the rather expensive offerings. read more

Amazon is doing us all a favor by putting brain-dead places like this out of OUR misery. Let me tell you a small story about yesterday... My 25-month-old son looked at me and, out-of-the-blue, said " Go Book Store, Daddy. Get Airplane Book!" I'd never heard him say anything like this before, but this is a type of request that I am eager to indulge. I was one proud papa! We jumped right in the car. Normally we would have gone to Tattered Cover. But we had a coupon for Barnes & Noble, and I thought "Hey, any bookstore will do for such a basic need, right?" Silly me. All the way to the store, he's going "AIRPLANE BOOK!!!" He's laughing and we're making airplane noises together. We get to the store and I usher my eager son into the toddler section, only to immediately discover... Wait for it... A Thomas the Tank Engine train table. If you have, or have had, or have even observed a two-year-old boy in the last decade or so, you know what happens when they encounter a Thomas train table. Nothing else matters. All thoughts of books evaporated instantly from his little head. And to make matters worse, they had no airplane books for toddlers. They had many dozens of train titles, but zero airplane books. They had a twit of a little teenage girl who was (nominally!) managing the toddler section. She couldn't even suggest an airplane book. So who would think it's a good idea to put a Thomas table in the toddler section of a bookstore? I'll tell you who...a manager who figures he can make an extra $20 in revenue per customer if the kids are crying that they need the green train! But I'll tell you this: now that I know my child won't be able to concentrate on books at B&N, I'll take him to bookstores where they actually think books are important. And, come to think of it, my last several experiences with B&N have left me with a feeling that their management doesn't care much about books. These guys don't get it. But that's ok. Let them dwindle. Let them derive more and more of their revenue from selling calenders, and video games and coffee. I just hope they die quickly because what we really need in my neighborhood is a new Sams Club! read more

I've been sucked into reading a lot more these days. Who knew that reading could be fun if you actually enjoyed the story line (light bulb!). I'm not an E-Reader or Kindle person, I like to sit down and open a real paper book and flip through the pages and dog ear my stopping points. I guess I may be considered old-fashioned these days and that's a first. I find this Barnes & Noble location to be conveniently located on Colorado Blvd. next to a Starbucks for all us caffeine freaks. It's a large location with every category of books I could ever want. Lately it has been the trendy trilogy's of Hunger Games and Divergent, although I'm straying from the trilogy's and starting on some individual books that have peaked my interest. Customer service is satisfactory and when I've needed help with anything someone has always been there to assist. Checking out is fast and painless and the only reason I may venture somewhere else for a book is when certain books are only offered as a hard back and I can get them cheaper as a paperback somewhere else. Here's the thing about Barnes and Noble: They're the only game in town. (Pretty much.) Amazon severed ties with them years ago, and it shows. Amazon was probably right on that call. For now, Barnes and Noble is an outlet to go grab whatever book that you don't want to wait for Amazon's delivery. But nothing else. Certainly higher priced than many online options, and it's not as if you're getting a better product, or even better service for that matter. They've now taken their (overpriced) Music and DVD section out of their stores. Digital Media is gaining a foothold, and the Barnes and Noble Nook has failed to get a good market share, with the iPad and Kindle leading the way. I was devastated to see Borders fall. I can't say I'll feel the same when Barnes and Noble fails (and it will)... But as a lifelong book-lover, I am sad to see the last strand of rope holding on to a "Book Store for the Masses" unravel. So I'll keep it at three stars out of nostalgia for the "Good Old Days" of "Real" book stores.... That are going the way of the Dinosaur. read more

Books books books! I always find, not only what I am looking for, but a reason to go to the library as well. I remember in stores like this, how many topics are out there that I want to re-discover. I can't just wander in to buy a Thai cookbook, I end up in the Travel section researching my next trip, roaming the Children's section to buy gifts, perusing the Clearance section because who can't buy books on sale? I am addicted to books. The sales clerks here are super helpful. Like librarians on crack. Very well informed and helpful. I could spend hours and thousands of dollars here every week. Books are one thing I will never have enough of. This location has a Nook section in the center of the store. All your favorite titles at great prices. I am not an electronic reader myself. I like the turning of pages and owning books, but if you want the latest new toy, B&N has that too. read more

Called ahead of time to see if they carried the Pharm Phlash cards that I needed desperately for my pharmacology class. With an exam Monday, I was stressing out a little bit thinking I would have to make all these cards myself. I called and Paula answered the phone and was more than helpful. She physically went and picked out the last set and held it for me while I drove over and picked them up. I went up the counter, and it was a really busy Saturday, little did I know that Paula was in training, and to my happiness was at the cash registered waiting with my cards! read more

Its a book store as you might have guessed by the name. Helpful employees, nice coffee shop, nice video game store, music and a Nook station for all your Nook needs. Every now and then when I'm bored, I prefer to pass my time wandering Barnes and Nobles. It pretty much caters to all of my hobbies and no one minds if you just pull up chair and hang out with a book. Even in this internet crazy age, a good book still has value. They didn't have the book I was looking for (Dangerous Laughter), because it is scheduled to be released in paperback on February 10th. I am stubborn and don't like asking for help, so I just stared at the shelf where it should have been for...5 minutes. Then circled around the store twice, came back, just in case, and then finally asked the customer service counter about the book's whereabouts. I don't know what it is about the air in this store that immediately turns me into a zombie, but it happens every single time I go here. I had to ask for my gift card back from the cashier, because he was out of it and gave a confusing explanation for not handing it back to me, which I will paraphrase: "Oh, thanks for asking for that back. I would have just thrown it away. There's $8 balance on it." I experienced sensory overload from this place. You'd think being such a fan of words, it would make me happy just being around so many books. But such was not the case when I was here this afternoon. Sad. read more

This location of B&N is a great reminder that a large corporation will not provide the same level of customer service as a smaller, local shop because they don't believe they have to. Cashiers are not trained to explain policy prior to purchase and are unclear about procedures for additional services. What makes it worse is that instead of admitting to being unclear and searching for an accurate answer, they just tell you what you want to hear to make the sell and keep the line moving - even of that answer is completely inaccurate! If you need anything more than a poorly trained cashier to scan your books and take your money, please save yourself the time and frustration and go somewhere else. I will not use this or any other B&N location going forward. I'm looking forward to discover more of Denver's local bookstores! read more

I was disappointed with this location. No comfortable couch chairs to sit down in and actually figure out if the book(s) is worth buying or not.. I couldn't believe it. They put random hard wood chairs around the store- awful. For this being the Glendale location I expected more. Nice big B&N off Colorado near Mississippi. It has a large Starbucks attached to it also. Lots of parking. Great selection. Lots of non-book items (models, pop! dolls, puzzles). Plus they get a fair amount of authors to come in and sign books and speak. I like it! read more

It's the melting pot of book stores. I go mainly, at evening, for a coffee,to hang out amongst the masses here to study, chat, and discuss the days events. Barnes & Noble does have an extensive children's section. I've found many titles for my kids here. read more

I frequent this chain bookseller location when I'm in need of a certain book and don't want to make the journey to Tattered Cover. Though a bit "sterile," the store itself is pretty nice: well laid-out and open. The various tables lining the center walkway are a nice touch. The atmosphere doesn't come close to those of the numerous independently owned bookshops around town, but it gets the job done if you aren't intending to stay for prolonged periods of time. The staff is friendly and always willing to help, and the checkout line is surprisingly efficient. A music / movie section sits in the very back, though I rarely venture to it due to its rather meager selection. Also, a very nice children section is to the left, though as expected it does not top that of Tattered Cover's new location. It's worth noting that a Starbucks is connected to the left, and a Gamestop to the right, the latter I usually wander through when I'm done with my book shopping. The Starbucks is apparently a hotspot in the summer months for teens and twentysomethings, a fact that fairly baffles me but rings true every night when it's warm at around 9:00 nonetheless. Though it can never beat the homegrown shops, Barnes & Nobles is a fair place to pick up books, and sometimes has some great deals. Not the best play for the "just browsing" folks, but is robust enough for particular books to be located. If you want the full book store experience, spending an entire afternoon reading in a comfy chair, however, B&N probably isn't the place. read more

As someone who can spend hours in just about any bookstore, I am not incredibly picky. BUT this store's organization and customer service is really awful. You're competing with amazon, you are really trying to sell the nook. I get it. You have devoted half your store and several of your employees to the nook section. Okay. BUT since you still sell books they need to be some of your focus. They have removed books by new authors, but them in the very back of the store and NOT in alphabetical order by author. (they were in a random order... maybe by release date?) Needless to say, I had a book club book that I was looking for and couldn't find it. Then comes my experience with the customer service desk. I had to wait a little bit, but I didn't even take a star away for that. They were busy for a Thursday morning and understaffed. That wasn't the employee's fault. It was my turn, he looked my book up in the computer and found that they did have copies of my book in the store. He goes ' they're in the back. it is kinda random how they're arranged back there.' Clearly it is random, that is why I came to ask you. Reluctantly he walked me back with and found the book. Barnes and Noble, just put your new release books in alphabetical order by author like every other book store I have ever been to and I won't have to bother your employees. read more
