Five stars for the B&N book store! They have a massive collection of books and I love the fact they still carry magazines. Although I wish they'd rename the outdated "women's interest" area to "fashion" or similar. The coffee shop has its pros and cons. I enjoy sitting down to peruse a magazine over a coffee. The coffee quality and service leaves a little to be desired though. I was excited, however, to finally see they offer a gluten friendly cookie - after all of these years! I was mystified as to why they have them smack bang in the middle of the display cabinet, right next to all of the gluten-containing bakery items. I'm definitely biased here - I've been a fan of Barnes & Noble for decades. I love the large selection, the variety, the hundreds of magazine choices on display. There is something about being able to browse to your hearts content that is enormously satisfying. I'll often go into a BN just to wander and see what catches my eye. I'll peruse the magazine rack to find out people are reading. It's interesting, fun and interesting educational. BN has decent prices and I'll even do some gift shopping there to find something personal and unique for a friend or relative. Over the years they've expanded their selection of games and puzzles and the children's section is unmatched in scope. I wouldn't mind living closer to a Barnes and Noble. read more

Although I've never purchased from Barnes & Noble online store, this company has every book that would make a reader out of yourself. With their membership benefits I enjoy free shipping on the books I buy plus discounts. I can even rent textbooks for my college courses. Love Browsing In Store Because there is a store near me, I stop in quite often to check their sales. I have a membership card which earns discounts on purchases. While this is technically a book store, they also sell a variety of other products. I have purchased stationery, pens, calendars, candles and other items. Good quality. A bit pricey; wait for the sales and use the member discounts. Besides mom and pop specialty bookstores, Barnes and Noble are the best thing going when you need a book immediately. Although pricier compared to Amazon, the B&N membership softens that blow, along with having a good stock of books on hand. The children section in my store is far from the beaten path, and they have a nice section where they can read and play while the adult shoppers are never hassled. There's also scheduled reading events for children and more so during the holidays. Most B&N stores have Starbucks inside, who also honor the membership discount. The workers at mine are also friendly. read more

Very pretty and comfortable atmosphere-- hell, there's even a coffee bar. They are overpriced- but that's the nature of brick and mortar stores. The real problem with B&N store is buying online-- JUST DON'T DO IT! Especially textbooks! Buy them anywhere else. They will put every rule they can in place to keep you from returning them. They will find a reason. This time (yes, while I was standing at the B&N counter) they told me I would have to return them by mail after I called the 1-800 number! Now this would be hilarious if it wasn't so ridiculous and sad. They said it was because I ordered them as a "pre-order" or some garbage like that. Um... no. I ordered them just like normal off of your stupid website-- which, trust me... I will never do again. I feel sorry for the sales staff having to quote these ancient return policies to their customers. We have computers, barcodes, trucks and everything now, people!! The bathrooms in this place are so foul and filthy! It's been this way for 8 years. I've never seen this bathroom clean. I'm so disgusted. Truck stops have cleaner bathrooms. Why hasn't this been addressed? I'd love to spend a couple of hours in your store, but knowing I won't be able to pee after having a Starbucks coffee in the cafe because the bathroom is so foul is enough to make your store a grab and go establishment. It's a larger B&N store with a varied selection. The staff is very helpful and the experience outside of the cafe area is quite good. The cafe workers were a little cranky and it didn't make a comfortable shopping experience. The parking lot is very busy, so best of luck finding somewhere to park. read more

Date: Nov. 1, 2022, 11am, Lakewood, CO Barnes & Noble. The barista (I believe Mary?) was EXCELLENT. Everyone has usually been kind and attentive at the counter, but she was over the top kind and conscientious. Usually our names are called out when drinks/food are ready. She brought mine out to me! You rarely see, this day in age, an employee putting customers first. The emloyees in the other departments have also been extremely helpful and kind, and if you ask where a section is, they don't just point, they take you there. One thing that is a bit of a turnoff are the seat cushions - they are really bad. Extremely grimey. They have been the same sad cusions for years. I think B & N can afford this improvement. Also, a bummer that you don't have plug-ins for computers. Some coffee places have a 2 hour limit and then the internet automatically shuts off. Perhaps something to consider? Thank you! read more

B & N and the Cafe lost my business today--and in the future. I have been going to this location for over a decade. It was my happy place. My routine is simple: I find books I might be interested in and take them to the cafe to flip through for 30 minutes or so and eventually buy a cup of tea, dessert and 1 or more books. However, today I was told that the cafe (which was 1/2 empty, by the way) was for paying customers only and that if I didn't buy something I would have to leave. I hadn't decided on my books and wasn't ready to buy my tea yet, so I picked up my 3 books and left the cafe. I looked for another place in B & N to comfortably look through my books, but there was no other place to spread out---so I put my books back and left the store. I had found 3 books I really liked and almost certainly would have bought at least 2 of them--to the tune of $40. I also almost certainly would have then bought my tea and a dessert while I settled in for an hour or so of reading. However, instead of making $50+ on me today, B & N and the Cafe made nothing. Nada. Zero. Zip. I can understand if non-paying customers were keeping paying customers out of the cafe, but that was not the case. The cafe was half empty! A table of little old ladies playing cards were told the same things as me--pay up or beat it! In fact--most people in the cafe was asked to leave! In this age of Amazon and used book stores where you can buy books at a fraction of B & N's prices, I would think B & N would be doing everything possible to make potential customers comfortable, happy and give them incentive to linger as long as possible. I don't know what this new employee/manager of the B & N Cafe is thinking--bit she is short sighted and bad for business! read more

Visited this store only 3 times and I am good now after this last visit where the girl couldn't remember two items in my order made me a coffee but not my tart other costumers got served after a 3 rd person and my coffee already finished my apple tart still nowhere so I ask for it and she gives it to me cold doesn't even bother to warm it so I ask nicely pls heat it up for me will u pls ? not one word of an apology or I am sorry U ve been waiting for so long can I make u a cup of coffee on us ? They have a pretty good book section for kids. On saturday 11am they have story time (with cookie and juice, so if you don't have your kid to have pink cookies and sugary juice, come prepared, which i do...). Once a month they have a 'character'. Last time i went they had a big red dog (we are not that far yet in the books, can't remember his name). Anyway, pretty cool. They also have a train table and 2 tables kids size, so the kids can read a bit too. We often go there just to hang out during the winter and my daughter likes to line up the stuffed animals on the chair. Nobody ever said anything, we put everything back and we're good. The people that work there are pretty nice. The rest of the store is standard. Pretty big store, big magazine selection. read more

What book store doesn't open until 9am? Probably a lot of them, but this kind of seems super inconvenient when you stand there in the freezing cold and the employees stare at you shivering while they check the clock while they stand waiting to unlock the door. It's also a REALLY DIRTY TRICK to have a Starbucks inside of your store that ISN'T really a Starbucks! When you're given a Starbucks gift certificate just to use here, you pull said certificate out, hand it to the clerk, complete your order, and then get told, "We're not a Starbucks. We're a store that sells Starbucks, so this is no good here, and you're total is $9.97," then it's also not very cool either. I'll head somewhere else if I can. read more

I'm a B&N loyal member, have been for years. This location however is pretty disappointing. It's one of their smaller locations so if you're not looking for a current bestseller or something really popular you won't have much luck. The fiction section is decently sized, so is the Children's, and they have a media section in the store which a lot don't have. I found the Movie/Film/Music, Cultural Studies, and Humor sections lacking in selection. The staff is very nice, willing to help you find a book or point you in a general direction. If they don't have it they can always order it for you from their B&N database. Also, B&N classics are often on sale Buy 2 get 1. I had a cashier mention this to me when I was checking out to see if I wanted to get my free one. All in all, it's okay, but if I'm really looking to browse I'll visit the location on Colorado Blvd. read more

I recently bought a toy at this location for my son. I just could not get it to work at all. I returned to the store and agreed to have it replaced and try a second unit. Much to my dismay the second one failed as well. Manufacturer defect, or who knows what. The manager was completely understanding and did not hesitate to refund my money fully no questions asked. I ended up spending the refund on other items because of their wonderful selections of products. read more

Personally, there isn't such a thing as a bad book store. They sell books, books teach you things. Reading is good for your brain. They didn't have what I was looking for this time, but that's OK. The staff member that looked for me, immediately offered to order it. That's a nice gesture. That being said, I can always find something to buy at the book store so I didn't leave empty handed. This location is a quick stop if your are cruising east or westbound I-70. Just on the north side of Colfax. Take the Denver West Blvd exit and juke right at Cole Blvd. read more

I am a bookstore junky. I could spend the entire in a bookstore just picking up random books and reading their summaries. Needless to say, I love coming to Barnes and Noble, this one in particular because of its convenient location. There's always plenty of parking and it's nearby a bunch of stores. Not much to say about this place other than that is pretty much your typical Barnes and Noble. It has a Starbucks Cafe inside and wireless internet making it a good place to study. However, I've heard that the wireless internet isn't too reliable. They have a wide selection of books, including local books for hiking and other outdoor activities in Golden and Colorado. The store is clean and organized, like most Barnes and Nobles. My main complaint about the store, and Barnes in Noble in general, is it's difficult to find books if they're on display. They're not in the section they should be in by author's last name, making it difficult to find sometimes. I once spent about 15 minutes looking for a book because I couldn't find the right display. However, the employees are extremely nice and helpful but sometimes hard to find. My boyfriend and I also talked to the nook sales representative one day. He was very helpful and was very knowledgeable. He answered all of our questions honestly, which I really appreciated. Overall, I enjoy coming to this store but someplace like Tattered Cover has a lot more character. read more

I am 100% okay with the Denver West Barnes & Noble. I find exactly what I want, even if I have to ask a staff member. Seldom do I ask for a book that they do not have in stock. Usually, I can find it right out in the open and easy to find. The one time I needed to wait for them to order a book took only about 2 days. I find all staff members friendly and helpful. Or I can order books and they are delivered as fast as Amazon. Personally, I refuse to order anything through Amazon. I want to keep numerous businesses open and thriving and available. Having actual bookstores, where I can browse and find unexpected new topics and authors of children and adult books, is enjoyable - and the right thing to do for keeping business owners and employees doing well. read more

I admit it: I was a Borders Girl, and I'm not just a little bitter that they're gone and I'm stuck with Barnes & Noble. But, it's a book store, and in this age of video games and netflix, it's always refreshing to find myself surrounded with the Written Word. And a Coffee Counter. Cozy Corners in which to peruse the latest bestseller. Chotzkys like Journals and Overpriced Pens and Bookends that resemble half an animal... The parking lot here seems to have plenty of open spaces, and Denver West isn't a bad area to shop in. It's not a pedestrian friendly place, but for a day of running errands, it's a nice distraction. read more

I was helped by two low level customer service reps at the West Colfax store, they could not find the book"Women on Women", a recent release. The first young man could not find it, tapped a retirement age manager on the shoulder, she could not find it either, they both just gave up and walked away, they could have asked for my phone number to get back to me when they found it, but no, they just left me standing there. Finally I asked for the store manager "Randall" and he found the book in just a few minutes. I must give Randall full credit for helping me today, I would give some career advice to the other two reps, get out of customer service, you are not very good at it. This location seems to be frequently understocked and the customer service is really, really lacking. I just went there and I got the most rude treatment. Maybe because I am a dark Asian. She was completely rude. Her name is Beth H. Caucasian maybe 5'5, short blonde hair and with glasses. I tried to return book that I bought online and she keep giving this attitude that she cant understand why I want to return and dont want to exchange. At first i was considering to exchange if they have it in stock. But because she keep yelling and forcing me yo exchange, i dont want to do it anymore. unfortunately, I paid with paypal when I bought online. So she said there is no way she could return it and I just need to return it to ththe warehouse. I was tired and dont want to fight. So i agreed. Then I asked for a plastic bag to put the exchange book. Since I want to so another shopping in there and dont want to carry it. I bought a BN plastic bag with me but my boyfriend (who couldnt stand the treatment) went away from us. So, when I asked for a new plastic bag, she said No I cant give it to you with a high tone and rude face. I am a BN member and never ever got this treatment anywhere else. Well, I guess this store will lose many customer if Beth is still there. So, if you a color person, maybe try to avoid this store. I was so upset i was about to cry in there. We talked to a manager. She listened but I doubt she would do anything about it. I will also contact th corpotate to complaint about this. If you work as an associate in a store, please be nice because your company depends on customers. And when you lose customers, the shareholders will get reallllllyyy upset about it! This location is quite a bit better than the location on North Sheridan. The Art and the Photography book selection is large and well stocked, with many new releases out so you can buy them. The staff here were helpful and very knowledgeable on what they had on hand. I like how the cafe is part of the store, and it seems to be much more popular than the Cafe at some of the other stores. This cafe seems to be busy, and very popular with people sitting and chatting, as well as quite a few readers sitting around. A busy, yet quiet place to sit and talk, if you want. read more
