Ours was a large project - a combination of several small projects including a gas Fire-pit, a large Water Feature, an Outdoor Kitchen complete with Grill, Refrigerator, Stove, etc, a Pergola with Swing, an expansive Landscape with hundreds of plants/trees, and a Fenced area for Raised Garden Beds. Hugh Dixon (Owner/Project Manager) was extremely detailed oriented and took pride in his work. Every detail was executed with precision and care, from the quality of the materials to the thoughtful layout. Even after a feature was completed, I would often see Hugh observing and changing something (that I saw no issues with) until he was satisfied. Hugh never cut corners and listened to all of our suggestions, even made last minute changes when we changed our mind on something. And the end result was simply spectacular. Our friends and neighbors say they had never seen such an expertly laid and meticulously installed flagstone patio. Hugh's team was extremely professional and punctual. When they would leave at the end of a hard work day, they would clean the entire area, wash as needed and will leave the work area spick and span. Some of the other companies I had gotten quotes from told me that I would need to hire additional companies/people - for example for sprinklers relocation, or for bringing a larger gas line for the fire pit (because I wanted a roaring fire), or for any carpentry work etc. Hugh's team did everything from A to Z for me, no additional help needed from anywhere else. Hugh had promised to wow me, and I must say he more than kept his promise. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident in every feature, and we're thrilled with how the entire project has turned out. Mr. Rios's masonry company was subcontracted by our builder to do the stone and masonry work on our…read morehome. I had extensive conversations with Mr. Rios prior to and during construction concerning water intrusion issues and the methods he used to mitigate that threat. I have now discovered that the top of the entire front wall of our front porch and much of the roof decking behind it has rotted due to improper preparation/installation of the subterranean flashing below and between layers of the stonework. This has required the complete removal of the existing stonework and replacement of the underlying wooden substructure. The first hole was discovered in our attic ceiling approximately two months ago. Examination by a roofer indicated that the external flashing around the stonework was sealed, but that the water intrusion appeared to be entering "through" the stonework. I requested that Mr. Rios investigate and give me a repair quote. He advised that he would, but I have not heard from him since. Subsequent repairs from a different masonry company have revealed that the initial stonework installation was left improperly protected from water intrusion, leading to the rotting of the wooden substructure. After advising Mr. Rios of the findings, he disavows any responsibility for the preparation/installation of the proper water mitigation strategies to prevent the exact type problem which we are now addressing. Pointing fingers of blame in every direction but his crew, he blames the roofer, builder, etc. Notably, the roofer's external flashing was sealed. I would agree the builder was deficient in trusting Mr. Rios's crew to professionally know the requirements for their work and ensure they were completed. As professional stonemasons, either they should have properly prepared the underlayment for their stonework, or if they felt that part was not their responsibility, they should have brought it to the builder's attention to ensure that it was done prior to their work. No such concern was voiced.

Went on and on about how they learned from their grandfather, etc. We talked about how to fix the iron railing on our front porch and how to re-attach it to the concrete. We even watched a YOUTUBE about the proper way to fix it and they agreed that was correct. I gave them a deposit to get it done. Two days later, I was out of town when they texted it was done, so my neighbor went over and took a picture of it. Picture wasn't clear but neighbor said it looked OK to her. I finished paying the youngsters. Once I was home, I discovered they ONLY used clear CAULK with a plastic "foot" at the bottom of each connection! Not ONE screw! Not ONE bolt! NO METAL FASTENERS AT ALL! I had to find another stone mason who wrote out a statement that this was NOT the way to fix this problem according to industry standards! Save yourself some aggravation and headache - DO NOT HIRE THIS SHAM OF A COMPANY!
