On entering l was greeted by one if the owners who said "hello and how are you today " and that alone is something rare these days, never met such polite staff and helpful in every way. The first thing l noticed when l walked in was how well stocked the shop was, everything was in its place, on the shelves where stocked with locally sourced in Edinburgh or Scotland, from biscuits to locally made jam. There where in house made pizza slices to go as well as coleslaw, and cheesecake. The Mouse hole deli stock a variety of scottish cheeses with a selection of cold cut meats, with the usual deli items such as the salads, fresh eggs available and an assortment of baked breads. The prices here are pretty good considering you are supporting locally sourced goods that are made nearby. I do see myself coming back? Most definitely. Service 5* Atmosphere 5* Value 5*

One wall is completely taken up with shelves of sauces, treats, and other little prepared nibbles to take away. Very affordable and not far from the water. Owner was quite friendly and welcoming - I wish I lived in this neighborhood so I could be a regular!

Hubby was away to see a job in Fife so me and the wee one decided to go along for a jaunt. We…read moreended up stumbling across this wee place after stoping to take some photos at the Forth Road Bridge! This little place was a delight! It's a quaint little cafe and deli with brilliant views of the Forth Road and Rail Bridge our little girl loved watching the trains going by overhead. The food was delicious all fresh, homemade produce! Both me and my hubby opted for the Broccoli and Stilton Soup for starters which was delicious, hot and just what we needed on a cold day. We both didn't want the bowl to end it was delicious! Hubby had the special which was an Aberdeen Angus burger with fries and sides this was juicy and delicious! I opted for a deli style toasty with bacon, Brie and tomato salsa this again was delicious. My little one was also well catered for with a kids platter which was only £2.50!! This was a great little idea with a plate of little bits and bobs for her to pick at including raisins, grapes, little crudités, some lovely deli sliced ham, a dairylea dunker and a peppa pig yoghurt, she absolutely loved this and kept her interested in her food. After we demolished all this we then ordered a carafe of coffee and a large slice of the mocca chocca cake this was delightful. A half between a coffee and chocolate cake very delicate and light and the filling was delicious. The coffee was also REAL coffee, real grinded beans, nice hot & strong with a kick. All of this plus drinks and our bill was £35!!, total bargain and not a scrap was left! This little place was soooo good that we are planning on a drive back to Fife just to come back here again, salivating thinking if that soup!! Yummy! They have a website and also on Facebook as Rankins Cafe And Deli.

I had the Moroccan chicken with apricots wrap and couscous, delicious. The waffles with crispy bacon and maple syrup scrummy. The scone with cream and strawberry jam was light and fluffy. All the dishes were made fresh to order and were presented nicely. The mocha coffee was good as was the hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows. North Queensferry is an interesting place to visit with so much history attached to it, there is more than just the bridge here to enjoy. Xoxo

It probably does most its trade through selling filled rolls, sandwiches and hot drinks. The interior decor is clean and the bright colours on the wall create a bright atmosphere. At the front counter the service is efficient and they have an impressive range of ingredients for sandwich fillings as well as a variety of different breads and baguettes. I had cajun chicken and salad in a nice crispy baguette with a packet of cheese and onion crisps. It tasted great but it was also quite pricey as it came to about £3.50 for what was essentially just a sandwich and a bag of crisps. I can't dispute the quality of this place, however, and The Deli offers fresh ingredients, an extensive range of food and drink and great service to match.

There is a menu to help you decide and give inspiration, however you are quite welcome to choose your own fillings too. Prices are what you'd expect for a city - around £2-3 for a filled ciabatta - but the service is generally fast and with a smile! The Deli also serves a small selection of drinks, soup and cakes & biscuits. There is a bench in the front window and some stools for those who wish to eat in. Overall, very friendly staff and great service has kept this place going for a good few years now in an area with a high turnover of eateries.

It's the kind of place you feel like there is a positive vibe both from a service perspective and from an employment perspective that pervades the essence of the service. But also, these were just lovely people. The food was phenomenal. I had the hot italian panini toasted and my daughter had the millionaires shortbread (which means covered in caramel and chocolate!) Both were terrific. The sandwich was hot, both in temperature and spice levels, with a great texture, an herby pesto, gooey cheese, and delicious hot peppers. I was convinced to give the Irn Brew a shot. "As Scottish as haggis!" he said. I'm not sure I loved the Scottish soda but I was glad for the adventure and the Scottish experience! In an area popular with tourists there are often many places where the service is not amazing because they know you may never come back and their employers are focused on churning as many people through as possible. In those places it often seems more time is spent on the descriptions of the food and advertising than the food and experience itself. Or, there are chains, like the Starbucks literally right there. This was not the case. This place was special. The food and the people compete for excellence (although the people win in my opinion!) If you miss this, you are missing out. We are leaving the early tomorrow and I want to try and get there for breakfast! Just terrific.
