My wife and I came down to visit out son. He told us about Barone Brother's Pizza place. I went in hoping to find out that they were some sort of distant relation but sad to say, no. Even though I was disappointed to find out that Mark Barone (the owner) was not related, I was not disappointed with the pizza. We ordered a Supreme Medium and Hawaiian Medium. Both were cooked perfectly and very tasty. The sauce was very good -- not spicy or acidic. The crust was well cooked, not doughy and filling. Overall, the pizza was very good. Barone Brother's Pizza has been in existence for 16 years. Originally owned by Mark and his brother, it has been owned by Mark and Nicky (his lovely wife) for the last 11 years. Came in about 50 minutes before closing to dine in after a long day of travel. The staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered a Greek salad and 12 inch meatball for my wife and I to share and a medium half pepperoni and half cheese for the kids. The meatball sub was up there with the best. The bread was perfect and it was well-built, so didn't fall apart - one of the main issues with most meatball subs. The Greek salad was perfect and the feta was generous, as were all of the toppings. I believe they sliced the tomatoes to order. The kids loved their pizza. The crust was excellent with a crispy edge. It's a no frills joint, exactly as a great pizza place should be. My wife commented the staff seemed like they were having a good time, joking with one another, but still taking pride in the product. She said "I love guys like that". Nice staff, and quick service. Pizza is VERY basic. It's like if Gino's and Little Caesars had a love child. It's not bad, and for a quick last minute dinner if you're not passing by anywhere else locally I would suggest it. Other than that, it will not be a staple place when there are many other much better pizza joints in Charleston. The crust was reminiscent of pillsbury dough pizza crust, and the sauce was more like a herby marinara dipping sauce crossed with a spaghetti sauce. When I'm visiting my mom and brothers I make a bee line to Barone Brothers pizza. Love their hand made, hand tossed pizza. Best around. I usually get it garlic and sweet red peppers. Where do I begin with this pizza restaurant let's start with the dough. The dough is made fresh right there in the store behind the oven which when it's cooked gives the perfect thickness for a pizza now let's move onto the sauce the sauce is delicious has a slight taste of tomatoes basil and oregano which in my book was delicious now the toppings they literally go through like the hot peppers and they pick out all the little stems and the undesirable pepper rings the mushrooms they are whole Portabella mushrooms that they cut up right there at the store the green peppers they slice them and after they slice them they make it a point to dry them with paper towels to ensure that not a lot of moisture is on them so that as they cook they don't turn soggy which in my book is disgusting now the meats you can actually watch as the cut up the meatballs into bite-size pieces to fit on top of the pizza the ham is actual pieces of ham the bacon is real bacon not the fake stuff the cheese is wonderful gifts when it's hot it gives a nice little bit of a stretch and they cook it to a perfect golden brown color. Now their subs are delicious hands-down this is the one pizza restaurant that is not a pizza joint but it is an actual pizza restaurant and what makes them a pizza restaurant is because when they cook the food it is actually cooked in an oven it is not cooked on a conveyor belt it is cooked in an oven directly on the hot brick which cooks the bottom of the pizza and everything to perfection. In closing this is hands-down the best pizza on the elk River and possibly on the Kanawha River in my option. read more

I like the fact it wasn't filled to the brim with artificial imitation cheese either. Quick friendly service every time I have ordered there. The crust is very good and homemade.
