The prices aren't low but they're really, really good for the quality of shoe that you get and a pair of Clarks will last you ages. There is also that cool machine that works out your shoe-size which always used to amaze me when I was younger. The staff are knowledgable and friendly, not being too pushy with the optional extras like polishes and leather protector etc.

I was passing today but and needed to get new shoes for my youngest so I thought I would nip in. As I said kids department is upstairs so I parked the pram in the designated area for prams and brought my wee one upstairs. There was no one else there, bonus I picked a good time to go, I noticed on my way in through the doors a ticket system so it must get very busy at times and to stop arguments between mothers they have thought of this. Shop is very well laid out in age categories and types of shoes. Lovely and bright too for kids. Assistant came straight over and measured my daughters feet and then went into the store and got all the available stock in her size, three pairs to choose between. Assistants are very knowledgeable in fitting for kids. Needless to say we came home with new shoes.

That aside, they do fit in a huge amount of product. Also, casual clothing, jeans, polo shirts etc. The staff are always polite and helpful. Unfortunately they did not have the item that I was looking for - an Arsenal polo shirt (definitely NOT for myself I hasten to add!), which was advertised as being in-store on their online site. Pricewise, it is usually great value for money and fantastic if you have a gaggle of children to clothe. I ended up buying an arsenal mug (again NOT for myself) and was unfortunate to end up at the till behind the customer who appeared to be buying every item in the shop! There is ample parking outside, being part of the Springhill retail park, and is very easily accessible coming off the Bangor bound carraigeway from Belfast.

Beautiful clothes which will make you drool and for a special occasion good value for money. The good news is that twice a year Excel has a great sale, which starts at 25% off and ends up at 75% off which is when the real bargains are to be found. Of course it's a fine balancing act between waiting for the prices to go down and making sure they still have stock left in your size. What I also like is that the sales staff give you the same level of service whether you are a customer who buys there every week or are like me and go in twice a year for the sales. Excel stocks ladies, men's and children's clothes and as they have another branch in Newtownards, they will be only too glad to try to track down your size if they don't have it. Boys' Timberland clothes and shoes have been particularly good bargains for me so give it a go.

Downstairs it is a bit of a trendy shop that isn't really up my street, but the staff are dead on, friendly and non intrusive. Upstairs it is a bit of a one-stop shop for school clothes. I was awarded honours for Drama when I was at school and went here to buy the special blazer, it was £90 which was a bit of a rip-off, but it was the only place you could buy the blazers so I don't really blame them for marking the prices up. And if that isn't love, well, I don't know... Baillies is a Bangor institution and has been around for over five decades, supplying the young, old and men somewhere in between with suits, trousers, shirts, t-shirts, jackets, coats and knitwear. Despite the prices being of a slightly higher nature, Baillies often has really good discounts (hence why my dad loves it so), and you'll find yourself surprised at the bargains available. And yes, I know you're thinking I'm female (and you'd be perfectly correct), but I've been in Baillies many times before...with my dad of course. If you're a pupil at one of Bangor's schools, you can be sure to find your uniform at Baillies. I can't speak for this aspect of the shop, as I went to school in Belfast, but it seems Robbie (the previous reviewer) has a fair grasp on everything school uniform related, so I'll let you read his for information about that. Exhibit is just basically another of a long line of prodominantly women's clothes that is slightly expensive and for girls to dress up for a night out. That being said, the clothes usually seem to be of a high quality and any lady friend of mine that has shopped in here as usually looked pretty hot. The staff in here are usually young ladies and so can be a bit bitchy and not all that friendly any time I have been in. The service is certainly not 5-star. It is located in Bloomfield Shopping Centre so is nice and easy to get to with plenty of parking and ATMS.

I spent more hours than I can count in this place but that hasnt really put me off going back in this current incarnation. You kinda know what you're getting with River Island, you get slightly above the average of High Street fashions with the women's section being particularly good. The men' ssection is really good too, particularly if you want to pick up a nice pair of shoes. I'm not a big fan of their denim but thats because I'm a snob and only wear Levi's. Being in Bloomfield Shopping Centre it is nice and close to other shops, easy to get to with plenty of free parking and plenty of access to ATMs.

River Island As I…read morehave said before I am not a huge fan over River Island if I am honest. I do not like how they went through a faze of putting luminous colours on their clothes, maybe I don't want to stand out? They also brand everything so that people know it is from River island, I know what your think and I know that is the point but it just annoys me. I went into the River Island in Bloomfield's the other day to see if I could find anything at all that wasn't branded or luminous. To be fair to River Island they seemed to have bucked up their ideas because I found some shirts, none of which I would wear, that were not luminous. The location of this place is great in Bloomfield's, there is ample parking on the grounds and the store is a decent size. I can not speak for the women's section but I think the male selection of clothing is atrocious, I am not the most picky person in the world and I could barely find anything I liked in here. The shop is also really bright and the floor tiles started to give me a migraine or maybe it was all the luminous clothing, who knows?
