However, the happy hour snacks were less than expected based on the quality. Chips and Dip- says a "Trio" but only one style of chip and a dip is included. Menu is very unclear on this. The beer is great, but eat before you get there. We stopped as part of a pub crawl and planned on eating here because the menu sounded appealing. The beer selection is truly mind-boggling, but the food was clearly frozen dishes that had been microwaved. This might be forgiven if it was on the cheaper side, but it was priced at about the same as a mid-range Italian restaurant. The bartender was helpful and knowledgeable about the beers, though, and the restaurant felt very welcoming. read more

Felt like a place people go to drink, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but you should no going in. Also a pretty big food menu and most people were eating at the bar. Bartenders were friendly and helpful. My biggest complaint was they had 109 beers on tap and I am not sure how fresh some of the more obscure ones were. We tasted a few that were a little flat tasting. But the ones we ended up ordering were great. read more

This place can be a real mixed bag. First off it's been around for about 7 years and I've never seen or heard of it! With that big barrel door you would think it would be hard to miss, but its location in a strip plaza behind another strip plaza makes it nearly impossible to stumble across. I loved the interior! It was very spacious and well decorated with televisions all over the place, a perfect spot to watch sports! Some booths even have TVs in them. There is even a game room with a pinball machine, an arcade cabinet and some gambling machines. Having all those beer options was a good problem to have! I chose some pretty obscure ones and both were fresh and tasted great. Even the appetizers we ordered were wonderful! The pretzel was delicious with just the right amount of crunch and the pickle spears were some of the best we have ever had! The big problem was my entree. I ordered the 4 steak sliders, menu made them sound great, piled high with toppings. Now we ordered our entrees to go so I didn't get a chance to eye my food until we got home. I kid you not one of my sliders didn't even have meat on it. It was so skimpy and these were not cheap sliders. Steak sliders were about 19 bucks and that is an issue with Barrels, for a bar and grill, they are expensive! So overall the entree was a 1 star but the rest of the experience was a 5 star, I was generous because staff was attentive and courteous so I gave the overall experience a 4 star. read more

After sampling a couple of beers I ordered Mothers Chug Chug. We had a good laugh with the bartender over the name. The beer was good and with 109 different choices to choose from you are bound to find one you like. It has a neighborhood corner bar vibe. Good food options with standard pub fare menu including apps, sandwiches, burgers, pizza etc. Sports bar/restaurant feel, super casual, lots of TV's, open bar area seating plus sit-down restaurant area - think this used to be BW3 location now converted to Barrels. Service was friendly and efficient on a Thursday afternoon for HH. Overall 3.5 rated experience today for drinks, food and service. Expect to pay $10-20pp depending what you order. Today we tried Barrels having bought our STL 2023 PubPass on line; and excited to use for 1st time because you get a FREE beer plus passport stamp with your Pub Pass at each location in the book. Importantly we learned that each brewery/restaurant has their "own" rules about your complimentary beer. At Barrels, we had to order 2 paid beers to get a 3rd one free for each pub pass. All was good since we got to try several different IPA beers; however I thought it was a big ask to require purchasing a Pubpass book, then still had to buy 2 beers before getting a free one. Apps were mentioned to be 1/2 off during HH, but the sampler platter ordered, which was plentiful with warm Pretzel, toasted Ravs, Cheese & Pepperoni bites, fried Pickle spears and dips did not receive the HH discount offered, so I was disappointed here. Food was tasty though and served hot, just ensure you ask server for clarification of items available for specials, and check your bill for correct charges. Stopped in here to watch some football and enjoyed the place. The place is big with lots of TVs to watch sports. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and helpful. She came by pretty often to check if we needed anything. For food we started with the pretzel and it was huge. The beer cheese that came with it was very good. We liked the mustard too but it was just average. For food I got the chicken tenders those were good and my boyfriend got the burger with chips. The food was good typical bar food. Empty on a Saturday afternoon while football was on- not a good sign. The TV at our table stopped working as soon as we sat down. A serve noticed and commented that they would fix it, then never returned. The salad we ordered was not good: first tried ranch and then honey mustard. Both were not good. The Cajun chicken pasta was better than expected. The BLT was one of the worst my husbands ever had. The bread was way over toasted. The "house" fries are certainly not made in house. The service was incredibly slow considering it wasn't busy. The bathroom was a bit of a wreck as well with used paper towels around the trashcan. Immediately I became a fan. Facebook group "The end is near, so let's drink beer" posted a "Mimosa and mortgage" so I decided to attend because this was 15 minutes from my home. This strip-mall taphouse had plenty of beer on tap and wish I ordered a flight of high IBU beer like what I imagined... However, the mimosa was offered and free so I said yes. Thin crust pizza was good. The salad was good, but I would want mushrooms added. The mini-sandwiches were tasty if not leaning towards " bready". The meeting was held in a meeting room as soon as you go inside the building. There was a game room and bar/restaurant rooms that a saw, also The bar had many draughts pulls and I wanted to try a flight. Tucked away at the end of a strip plaza, this standard pub and bar style restaurant satisfied my craving for a good burger. The meat had good flavor and it was served with your choice of side. I opted for tots, gotta love a place that has tots! Tots were nice and crispy. The table also got the onion rings which had a nice light batter that were perfectly fried. Portions were generous and filling. There were a couple of misses - one of those being the spinach artichoke dip appetizer. It came out with raw diced onions and bacon pieces on top - both of which did nothing for the flavor. You got your choice of chips or pita, chose pita, and it was deep fried, made it quite crunchy and just not what I was expecting. The house Chardonnay was a miss too, very sweet, but hey can't expect much in the way of wine in a place that has 109 beers on tap rest of the menu looked good, lots of options. I will be back. Stopped in for dinner and to check out the place and we weren't disappointed. Large inside with many seating areas and a nice size bar area so anyone should feel comfortable. That have 109 beers on tap so all you beer lovers are taken care of and they have happy hour specials and lots of other things happening all the time. Husband was super hungry so we started off with chili nachos and they were delicious, thin chips loaded with chili meat, beans , onions, tomatoes, black olives, jalapeños, sour cream and cheese and way to much to finish. I ordered the Chief's bbq burger with fries and the burg burger was fantastic, cooked to perfection with cheddar cheese, crisp bacon brown sugar and bbq sauce, Husband had the Mizzou melt and in between bites he said it was great and he loved the chips. Definitely worth trying if you are in the area and we will definitely return! read more

Our server, Morgan was great. Very nice and helpful. Food and drinks were brought out quickly by one of the kids working in the kitchen - albeit without silverware and appetizer plates. 108 beer taps...and only ONE sour ale - with 60 IPAs. I am pretty sure the fried chicken was bought in a box and put in the air fryer. The worst fried chicken I have ever eaten. Supposedly 3 pieces. Breast, thigh and it looked like they cooked up a baby duck...because that third piece was sad. Mashed potatoes? More like lukewarm paste that was sitting in a pot for a few hours. Not good. The jalepeno bacon burger was solid though. That made dinner salvagable. Your front of house staff deserve better. Very cool place, plenty of TVs and clean. My sweet sweet love. Barrels has been my bar / grill / hangout spot for years now. Literally coming up on 7 years. The staff is so friendly, the owner is always coming around to say hey and ask if everything is going well. It's dimmer lighting which I love in any bar setting. They have musical bingo which is always fun. The food..always satisfying. The patio is small but lovely and no one seems to ever be taking advantage of it, so weather permitting me and my coworkers are always outside for our whiskey Wednesdays or thirsty Thursdays . So many beers to choose from! They should get a punch card so you can say you've tried them all ! Cocktails also never miss. Definitely a place worth checking out for its casual comfy atmosphere, some good grub and good brews. 11/10 Barrels read more

Went here for the first time on Friday (3/28) to watch the Battlehawks game. Neither of us are real beer drinkers but wanted to try it out. The bartender suggested a really good cider (Waves Rose Cider w/ Strawberry), it was delicious. We ordered the mac and cheese with smoked pork, it was tasty but definitely needed more cheese sauce, it ate a bit dry. Also ordered the Battlehawk's Kickin' Chicken sandwich, it also ate very dry, did not get the chipotle aioli (just reg. mayo.), I would suggest a whole marinated chicken breast instead of cut up pieces and a toasted Brioche bun instead of the sourdough bread, had the steamed broccoli and it was cooked really well, tender but not mushy. We had the house chips with Barrels Beer cheese, but didn't really taste any beer flavor in the cheese, the chips are really good. Overall I think it's ok, nice atmosphere, lots of TVs to watch all kind of sports. There is also a side room with some video games. I think we'll give it another try. read more

If I was you I wouldn't waste my time here... also told the worker that the beer wasn't correct she said well it was the correct handle I guess wrong beer. But back to this sandwich. I ordered a chicken teriyaki sandwich. I know not super keto, but at least I didn't eat the bread! So. It was All of my favorite things, and some teriyaki sauce. The chicken sandwich includes pineapple, maybe that was a given with the teriyaki. But! It also had mushrooms and Swiss cheese. And as a keto person, the chicken came chopped up already so, I did not have to cut chicken while I was eating. I will never know if they did that on purpose, but it helped me out a lot. When a restaurant has good service and good taps, one can settle with mediocre food but this really let down on all levels. I guess the taps were ok but the bartender was slow and disappeared for 10-15 minutes so I gave up on ordering another drink. The fish and chips were below average. The tartar sauce was too sweet, the cole slaw was bland. The chips were like Chex mix and the fish was tiny. The fish tasted fair but they were probably frozen. Super small portions. My wife and I drove 25 min. from our house in Creve Coeur in the snow last night for our 4th visit in 20 days. We really enjoy the massive beer selection. We are micro brew junkies and this place feeds that addiction. We are previous business owners and like sitting at the bar and interacting with the staff. Toni at the bar is great. We have also eaten something different every visit, and have yet to be disappointed. Not sure why some reviews think its mediocre ? I really enjoyed their take on the Cuban. Wasn't sure at first, but was glad I tried it . I will be having it again. I have also had the Reuben which was fantastic. The chiefs BBQ burger was ultra juicy and very tasty as well. The wings were another great choice. My wife had the Cajun pasta last night and it was packed with flavor. She has also enjoyed the Blue's Burger and was knocked over by the blue cheese crumbles. Very tasty. She is also a big fan of the Sweet potato fries. This is a very casual bar with lots of space to feel comfortable. Lots of brews on tap, the hockey game on everywhere you look and tasty food sums up 109 Brewhouse. The Southwest salad resembles something you would put on the table for the whole family. It's HUGE and very tasty with blackened chicken, black beans, cheese, jalapenos, tomatoes, tortilla strips and southwestern ranch dressing. Blue Moons were only $2.25 on special. I've got the good, the bad and the ugly. Which do you want first? The Good: The Bacon Cheeseburger: huge, nicely cooked, lots of fresh toppings, generous amount of bacon and came with Swiss, as ordered. Instead of house made chips, I opted for the side salad, for a $2 up-charge. Don't quote me on it, but I believe fries were also an up-charge. I just checked the menu on their website and it's actually not noted what burgers come with. Though for a starting price of $8.99 on the burger, I was surprised fries weren't included in the cost, as is typical of many other similar places. The entryway door was super neat. It felt like I was walking into a giant beer barrel. There's a TV at every booth along the wall, as well as a lot of them around the entire place - great for sports fans, I guess, though I'm not one of them. From what I gathered, it's under either new ownership or new management, so hopefully what follows are just hiccups and can be resolved quickly. The Bad: The server/bartender, a young lady and very nice, was not knowledgeable about the menu. Was she new? Did she have a lack of training? I didn't ask, but she didn't know how many cheese sticks came with the appetizer, the price of a growler or a flight, and though she was correct, she seemed pretty unsure about what came on the salad. I've been on the other side of the table as a server and I suppose that as with any large menu and extensive drink list, it takes time to internalize the minutiae. I went with a Guinness - pretty standard, though surprisingly, my draft was served in a pint type glass, not a traditional Guinness glass. With beer being, well, in the name of the place, I had a particular image in my head about the glassware. The Ugly: The constant wasting of water in the ladies room. The faucets are the sensor kind, but the sink on the right runs constantly - and it's obvious from the marks in the sink it's been doing so for quite some time. I'm not like the greenest person around, though I hated to see all of that water just literally going quickly down the drain. Not to mention the additional cost on their bill, versus the cost of replacing or repairing it... I walked in here to kill some time and have lunch while I was getting a tire repaired at Auto Tire across the parking lot. I might go back for a beer, but wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit again. read more
