DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER taking your case to this company! They absolutely failed in handling my case. There's so much to complain about, it's hard to know where to start. Over the years, they switched out my lawyer THREE TIMES, and each new lawyer came in completely clueless about the case. It seemed like none of them were even specialized in the field relevant to my situation, based on how unprofessional they were. As a result, I ended up spending WAY MORE time and money than necessary. Every time a new lawyer was brought in, I had to pay extra for them to "review" evidence, essentially paying triple what should have been the total cost. My first lawyer seemed to somewhat know what he was doing. The second lawyer was actually good but left shortly after taking on my case. The "Third lawyer", however, was completely incompetent. He was clearly confused about the details and LIKELY INEXPERIENCED in cases like mine. He failed to properly review the evidence I provided, kept asking for irrelevant documents, and didn't seem to understand the nature of my case at all. Yet ironically, he charged 30-40% MORE than the previous lawyers, despite being the most unqualified of the three. He offered no useful advice or suggestions, mismanaged my evidence, and didn't even present the key documents during the court hearing. The points that he focused on were completely irrelevant to my case. Want to know how I knew he was unprofessional? He never once informed me about interest being charged during the period of my case going on (for years) which resulted in the interest accumulated being 2x higher than the court decision. This is fundamental information that he never once advised me on, likely because he has no prior experience handling such cases. I don't think he's ever handled tax-related cases before, because he failed to explain what to expect or what needed to be done. He continuously stalled on irrelevant matters and charged extra for every unnecessary task. It was either a deliberate effort to rack up fees or a sign he was completely clueless. Either way, it's unacceptable -- ESPECIALLY when he's charging more than the lawyers who actually had a grasp on the case. This company is ENTIRELY focused on making money, not on helping you win your case. Because of their delays and incompetence, I was the one who paid the price due to their inexperience and unprofessional behavior -- financially, emotionally, and legally. They took no responsibility for their actions, and by the time my case was resolved, it ended up costing MORE than the original amount being disputed. They wasted my time, money, energy, and caused unnecessary stress all because they didn't know how to handle my type of case. And to make things worse, they even charge over $300 just to submit a complaint and ask for help resolving the issues. If you want more stress, more expenses, and a complete lack of professionalism, then sure -- give this company a try. They won't disappoint in that regard. read more

Stay away from this firm. All they care is your money. Period. After the initial consultation, I was asked to send a deposit of over $2000 to start working on my case. I was extremely underwhelmed by the speed of work and quality of communication. It was clear from the communication from his team, that they couldn't care less about the urgency of my case. After 3 weeks of waiting and feeling left out, I asked for a refund, and boy was I surprised that over $700 was eaten by the administration. They didn't fully deliver anything in time, and I would never recommend anyone to Dale and his team. Update. I was utterly disgusted when Mr Barrett approached me and tried to bribe me to remove my review. It's unbelievable it's the same firm who repeatedly ignored my requests to give me updates on my case for weeks suddenly wanted to talk to me in less than 8 hours of me posting this negative review. Not to mention that I find this unequivocally unethical to be coming out directly from the mouth of someone who should protect law and help others seek justice. I could be biased with my own experience, but perhaps the reason you don't see many negative reviews here is because some of dissatisfied clients accepted their offers in the past. I refused his offer, and my review stays. I would like to give negative 5 stars if I could, but 1 star rating is all I can do at the moment. read more

My experience with Dale Barrett was not that great. Dale was personally handling the payments of his client Isaias Pravata whom purchased a business from me. Communicating with Dale was a very lengthy process and at every opportunity Dale threatened me with several law suits. I was previously employed by Dale also but I won't go into that. Feel free to contact me for screenshots of his threats, him calling me a criminal and him Chronically wasting time to drag out payments. 1st payment late. Second payment early. 3rd payment never arrived. All payments made where incorrect and below the price,they agreed they would pay. Instead to cut off communication and create more delay Dale is using,a current on going court case as a way to delay this perfectly good transaction set up by Isaias Pravata who has full Autonomy of the sale. I don't recommend him Because he doesn't communicate, can't be trusted and makes false promises. Dale also contacted me to remove the review in return he would talk to his client. Feel free to contact me requesting screen shots. Emails and recordings of conversations. I will happily oblige. read more

Charged us 10 grand and really no assistance. A couple calls to tax department and we just had someone locally look after everything. Don't waste your money hire some competent person that can help you deal with Revenue Canada and organize what you need. Do not even need a real accountant though Revenue Canada might listen to them better read more

The bottom line; I came away without my separation agreement, and was out the six hours I had paid him. Best advice; Get yourself a contract lawyer before hiring this one to handle your family law!

Early in May 2014 I experienced a huge problem with the CRA, and realizing that I could not deal with them on my own, I decided to retain Legal Council to help me deal with this problem. Not knowing who to turn to I looked up Tax Lawyer's and found a Professional Web Page for Barrett Tax Law, so I decided to make the call, IT WAS THE BEST CALL I EVER MADE!!!!! From the first moment I talked to Robin, the company Receptionist at Barrett Tax, I knew I was in good hands. My tax situation was very difficult and I could not have handled the constant pressure from the CRA by myself. Within a day or so I was contacted by a member of the Barrett Legal team, a young man by the name of Jason. From that day forward the stress of dealing with the CRA was gone. Over the next year the legal team at Barrett Tax Law not only cleared my tax problem with the CRA, they treated me as a special person, they always informed me of changes in my struggle with the CRA and enabled me to live a normal life without looking over my shoulder for another problem. I currently live outside of Canada but left a tax issue pending that was increasingly worrying me to a point that it was the last thing I thought about before going to bed! A family member recommended I call Barrett Tax Law for a consultation and I'm so happy I did. I spoke with Dale Barrett who assured me that although my tax problem was serious, it was fixable. I can't even describe the relief I felt when less than two months later I was told that my house and business were safe. I have never felt compelled to go online to write a review for a company until now - I even went through the trouble of creating a new email account (for privacy concerns). If you're stressing out about a tax problem like I was, you need to give Barrett Tax Law a call (I was not charged for the initial consultation and thought their fees were reasonable).
