I have been to Barrington Orthopedic Specialists for various orthopedic needs over the last few years. When you enter the building, there are many signs directing you to the various areas in the building. MRIs, physical therapy, surgeries, as well as doctor appointments are all in this facility. There are chairs in the waiting room that are made for tall people. They are easy to get in and out of. I love it. The rooms are all clean and bright. I have received good care from Dr. Tashima and Dr. Marino. read more

Friendly staff, and useful (though incomplete) information through to total knee replacement surgery. PT staff helpful, but only after having continued knee issues did I realize there was very little analysis or review of my personal situation, and those issues (I believe) not considered during surgery. Also information after surgery not as thorough as before surgery. Would have been nice to know what can or can't be done with replacement - like you're not supposed to run with knee replacement, can you kneel on the replacement, and what I was originally told " you will be able to return to normal activity in three months" can change to " it takes up to a year to heal" when the replacement does not go as expected. I still hold out hope with PT and working out, my knee issues will resolve. Plan on losing 3-6 months to a year of your life recovering before returning to normal activities. It's not an easy surgery. read more

The staff is generally friendly and the place is clean but the doctors just push meds and don't try to actually fix the issue. I had to go to a separate doctor to get a proper diagnosis. Then theres the problem of waiting, my appointment was at 10:45, I was led to a room and I waited till 11:30, this is normal for this place. They make you wait an hour and then don't help you. I don't recommend if you can go somewhere else read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Rabinowitz for over a year now. I was in the hospital and had to had urgent surgery for non-ortophedic reasons. Because of this, I had to reschedule my follow up appointment four times. It wasn't a no-show or anything like that, just me calling to let them know that I wouldn't be able to make it with plenty of advance notice and I explained why. Dr. Rabinowitz and their team dismissed me as a patient because "at four rescheduled appointments it is their policy not to reschedule anymore" and the reason behind those reschedules was insignificant to them. I called twice and explained my situation again, asking to review because obviously, it was out of my control, but they maintained their decision. If you want to be treated by a provider who only sees you as a number and doesn't care about you beyond that, then I definitely recommend Dr. Rabinowitz and his team! read more

Pathetic. Lazy. Unprofessional. I had a family member who had a gel injection at the Schaumburg location earlier this year. That person went back for their second injection - that didn't happen. Keep in mind that this person needs a total knee replacement and is in pain. Would be nice to to not have hobble through the holidays. We have insurance, and, we have reached our out of pocket max for the year. No brainer, right? We received more than 10 phone calls from our insurance company asking about the medication (gel) and telling us we needed to order from a specialty pharmacy - and wanted us to pay our copay before they could order it. We explained to them that not only we don't have a copay, but our out of pocket is maxed out. We spent countless hours talking to these reps because it was obviously an insurance issue - or so we thought. We place several call to barrington and got the usual "I can't answer that question because that department is gone for they day." (In other words, only get sick between 9-5 Monday - Friday.) TLDR - barrington is no longer using that gel, but instead of letting us and the insurance company know, they placed an order that 1) For a medication they don't use, 2) Are no longer authorized by insurance to use, and 3) They never told the insurance company nor us. So, we spent over 7 hours of playing phone tag with ghosts until we finally found someone at barrington that told us what was going on. Their suggestion was "Just pay the copay." Keep in mind that this was right after the same person told us they couldn't get the gel. So, they are saying "We can't get it but you should pay for it anyways." Why am I posting this on YELP instead of contacting them? Well, their website seems to be having issues with everything but their bill pay section. You can draw your own conclusions from that. I had a very bad appointment experience with Dr. Sean Jereb, MD. I had a severe injury in my right knee my meniscus tear and detaches from the root in the right that day, but I also had the same injury on my left. I was not able to walk, but Dr Jareb said it looks like sciatica pain based on his personal experience with the sciatic pain, but unfortunately, my case was not same as his case and he did not check my knees how they were functioning. Where I had pain. Just gave steroids pack. I also mentioned I had sever left knee pain but he said that is little bit of arthritis and that's it. I went to physical therapy and I suffered to find out what happened. In January found out that I had meniscus injuries in both of knees. Left knee had severe arthritis developed and had to meniscus repair and HTO this month. I also need meniscus repair for my right knee. I would have to take a legal actions in order to teach this the doctors how to treat the patients. Patients are just not a source of income, they also need treatment as they need it. I was in a horrible freak accident and broke both of my ankles. Dr. Baksh (the on-call at NCH) fixed my left ankle and Dr. Patel, the ankle specialist, is still helping me with my right ankle. The entire experience is focused on money, not the patient care. While this so-called patient facility used to be centered around patient health, they are now solely focused on money. We entered the facility and the first thing they wanted was a credit card on file, and they will charge you within 5 days if they don't hear from you and they'll only email you, they refuse to send a bill any other way. Then, they require you to sign the agreement-so it's not so much that you want to give your credit card for their files - they make it seem that it's law but it's not. Additionally, the staff at the front desk is bland, uncaring. They ask that you don't ask them questions (what insurance do you take, what is the cancellation policy). Quite disgusting and disappointing, as we previously had great care here. read more

The office is efficient. easy to make an appointment, check in and check out is smooth and patients waiting area is ample and clean. i saw Richatd Warskow who works with Dr. Brooke Belcher. He was intellectually curious, patient, knowledgable ,thorough and respectful. My visit was pretty much the end of the rope type consultation. In keeping with that he allowed me to tell my story, looked at films and other doctors notes and gathered information which became a recommendation within the scope of Dr. Belchers area of expertise. It was not the prognosis I hoped for . BUT. It was honest practical with opportunity for various deviations along the way. I cant be more disappointed in what Barrington Orthopedic has become. Not only have I had most of my family go here, but i have had several procedures including two knee surgeries and major shoulder surgery. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO insurance and never had a issue with a bill or a co pay. NO they act like a bill collector just to get a appointment!!!! I am not the only one that this has happen to , as you can read below. While I enjoyed Dr Schneider as well as Dr Rotstein and Dr Yaffe, The front office experience is just as important. They took x-rays of my son's hip and then referred us to a pediatric orthopedic. We needed the x-rays on a CD for a pediatric orthopedic. We could not get anyone to call us back or email us back. We put a request in for his records, which we had to pay for, and then they cancelled the request without an explanation. Again, we still could not get anyone to call us back or email us back. They will not release records and will charge you for it. read more

May 8, 2025 I want to thank Dr Rotstein, his assistant Amy and the rest of their team at Barrington Orthopedic Specialists for their continued professional help with my situation. Suffice to say I decided in spring of 2024 that my knees need some help. I chose to seek help from Barrington Orthopedic Specialists based on a positive experience there many years earlier with Dr Schroeder. Since Dr Schroeder had since retired from the practice, I set up an appointment with Dr Rotstein based on knees being one of his specialties, and his volunteer work with the athletes at a local High School. After taking some X-Rays I received an injection in my left knee, and it began to feel better by the time I got home 20 minutes later. That was the first step in my treatment plan. A few weeks later I returned for a second, "gel" injection in my left knee and to have my right knee drained. The positive effects of those injections lasted for months, and the swelling in my right knee due to bursitis has not returned. Woo Hoo! Few things last forever, and recently I made an appointment to see Dr Rotstein. In essence a year later some pain had returned and I wanted to know if I could have a "tune up" on my knee in preparation for an upcoming trip to Alaska with our family when there will be LOTS of hiking involved. I saw him today and the appointment was seamless....again. I arrived early, the office staff got me checked in and reviewed my insurance info. I was called in for my appointment before I sat down in the waiting room. Cool! Within a couple minutes Amy came into the exam room to review a few things prior to my meeting with Dr Rotstein. She ordered some X-rays which were taken and reviewed by the doctor. He then came in to see me. He LISTENED to what I had to say and we discussed my situation. He quickly came up with a two-part plan and executed the first part of the plan (an injection in my knee) right then & there. The next part will be executed in July. I bet it wasn't 20-25 minutes from the time I entered the building until the time I got back in my car. I go here for my MRIs the people help you feel at ease. Plus the MRI pics are crisp and clear. That's the 4 stars. I do need to do an extra step with my HMO. I not only need a referral I need approval from my insurance. I have found that the doctors accept my HMO, but the In-House therapy does not. I guess they are run by different companies. read more

I have read some of the other reviews and feel compelled to contribute my experience as well. My husband is scheduled to have surgery and was asked for a deposit for the surgery. Bear in mind we have PPO insurance and he has already met his deductible, but they are requiring he provide $111 or they will cancel the surgery. REALLY?!? We have no outstanding bills and have a history of multiple family members using their services. Clearly the priority is money over patient care. Someone needs to look at the amount of time and energy utilized by staff calling to collect this money instead of just billing the coinsurance like others do. Customer experience makes a difference and this has certainly soured me to continue going there moving forward. I will also be sure to tell everyone I know about this. I think a review of this policy is warranted. Is losing business really worth the $111 in your pockets for an extra couple of weeks. Ridiciulous! read more

Went to see Dr. Ohara for the first time on April 7, got a morning appointment. Got there a little early, hopefully the Dr. would be close to on time. Waited, and waited, appointment time was well past, finally went up to the desk and asked what was going on. Got a few great excuses, and was told that if I waited ANOTHER 20 -30 minutes a room would open up for my appointment. I decided not to wait any further. Would NOT recommend this guy. I've been seeing Dr. Mahoney for a few months for a recurring problem, and she's fantastic!! Dr. Mahoney is kind and courteous, and professional--always making sure to explain everything thoroughly. I also appreciate that she never rushes through an appointment; to Dr. Mahoney you're a person, not a patient! The office staff is courteous and professional, and the nurses who I see before Dr. Mahoney are always great too! Today I showed up nearly 10 minutes early for my appointment and was put into a room immediately, and saw the nurse (PA?) and doctor within 5 minutes. (I've never waited more than 10 mins to see Dr. Mahoney, even when the office is packed!) I've also seen Dr. Jagadish for another problem and he was excellent as well--very thorough, and concerned with getting the full picture before he made his recommendations. I waited all day for them to call me back to set up my wife for a MRI my doctor's office faxed them a order for one and called them numerous times and they kept saying they never received it. Called my doctor's office they said they faxed it, I had to drive back to doctors' office and pick up the order myself and bring it to them myself. Then they needed a approval from my insurance company, again the insurance company faxed and called them they said they never got the fax or phone call, LIE The insurance company said they called and talked to the same women that said she didn't get the call. This is the first and only review I have EVER written about any subject, that is how grateful I am for the Occupational Therapists working with me (CHT, certified hand therapists) at Barrington Orthopedics. As a backstory, I had a severe hand injury with partial amputation to my 4 left fingers which required extensive surgery to all my tendons, arteries, etc. in my hand. Jo-Ann, Kayla, Katie, and Hayleigh all had part in my rehab as it was almost daily in the beginning. Not only in 6 short weeks they had my hand moving more than I could have imagined, they took the time to explain the inner workings of my hand as I ask a lot of questions. It might sound strange, but I look forward to therapy, I am still going, not only to see daily progress, but most importantly seeing and thanking the awesome therapists at Barrington Orthopedic. read more

It seems the only thing important to Barrington Orthopedic Specialists is their own agenda. I showed up for my appointment only to be asked for my Social Security number after filling out a lengthy online personal info questionnaire prior to arriving. After clearly telling them I do not give out my Social Security number, the lady at the front counter continued to insist I give them my SS #. They had also asked the referral agent previously for it and she politely told them no, like I also did. I ended up being refused service?! Unbelievable that as an Honorably Discharged Veteran I would be turned away because I would not give them information they simply have no business asking for. I would strongly suggest going anywhere else than here. Very stressful, chaotic and uncomfortable situation to say the least. read more

I saw some reviews about how this office cares about money. That couldn't be more true. I had an awful experience, I ended up never coming back and going somewhere else. I have never had any major health issues before and was having issues with my arm/hand and my nerves. The doctor was trying to make me do all these serious tests, telling me I could have rheumatoid arthritis and all these other crazy things. I already am not good with doctors and I expressed this and all he did was make me feel flustered and overwhelmed. He was very cold towards me. I felt like I was about to pass out listening to him, my anxiety was at an all time high. I go to another doctor, he was warm explained everything to me and we figured out that I have a muscular issue due to chronic stress. I did 3 months almost of physical therapy and haven't had issues since. If I stuck with Barrington Othropedic, I would have paid thousands for all these crazy tests for no reason. To top it all off, I had an issue with insurance I just found out about and instead of calling me, they sent me an email with a new bill (I get hundreds of emails a day) and then charged my card. No call, no nothing. Apparently customer service isn't a thing here either although they treat you like a customer instead of a patient. Caring about your patients definitely isn't a priority as the woman in the billing department so kindly said "this could have been avoided if you checked your email" as I cried in frustration and stress. What a big help. I don't understand the laziness of not calling patients when there's an insurance or payment issue. I'll solve the insurance issue and never look at or think twice about this place again. read more

First visit at this practice for Osteoarthritis of the knee. The office was on the larger size and the staff was okay. I felt like I was in a large Ortho Factory that keeps cranking the patients out. I saw Dr. Jereb, while he was nice, the visit fell short. He reviewed my xrays, confirmed that I had arthritis, gave me a cortisone shot, and a page of exercises. There was no future planning to set me up for success, and very little said during the appointment. I was hoping he'd suggest physical therapy and write a script for it. The doc did not advise me to set up a follow up appointment either. I did not feel like I had a solid plan/guidance going forward. read more

I've seen a lot of negative reviews across different websites and wanted to be sure to leave a positive review because I highly recommend Barrington Orthopedics. I've had nothing but positive experiences here, from the waiting area to seeing Dr. Narendra Patel. The waiting area at the Schaumburg location is busy, but nothing like the other reviews have stated (i.e. factory-like). It just seems busier because they offer things like last-minute appointments, which personally I think is really great. It's much better than having to go to the ER, where they just ace wrap or immobilize you and tell you to follow up with an ortho. Dr. Narendra Patel has such superb bedside manners and you can tell that he genuinely cares about the patient and treatment plan. He allows you to have say in your treatment plan and that means the world when an injury comes at a terrible time. My sister is getting married in a month and he has allowed me to work with him on what will work to get me healed FAST. It hasn't been healing as we had hoped though, so we came up with another plan at my last appointment. It says a lot when a doctor takes their time and really cares! Saw a Dr. On 9/29/2020 and was required to pay my co-pay upon arrival. Before swiping my card I requested an itemized receipt which is every patients' right as per federal law. The receipt they gave was blank under date of service, diagnosis and procedure as well as blank under providing staff. When I tried to get an itemized receipt they argued and argued, then lied telling me they would give me one on my way out of the visit. They refused agai. Then and when I refused to leave the office staff member hand scribbled unintelligible things saying sarcastically that would have to be good enough as it was "all (she) was willing to give me" HORRENDOUS treatment to a patient of the practice for over a decade. Dr Ohara and Rothstein helped put my mom back together after a very serious crash. She had very diffficult injuries but Dr. Ohara did an excellent job piecing together her shattered foot. We're years out and she has very little trouble with it, in fact the repaired side gives her less trouble than the uninjured side. Yes he's not always super timely but that's because he's giving his full attention, answers every question, and takes care with each patient. I'd rather have that than a timely appointment. Quality vs quantity and all, I choose Quality. He's also in high-demand that can't help his ability to keep appointments either. I'm currently seeing dr obermeyer for a shoulder injury and while i do wait a little he's a little more prompt on appointment times than other drs have been. I can see that he is a little more hurried too but did not blow off any of my questions. You just have to come prepared. I can't comment on his abilities i haven't had anything done besides diagnostics and cortisone so far but he was VERY forthcoming with my options the conservative vs agressive (PT vs Surgery) approach. I like straightforward doc's if you don't, then see someone else. This practice is VERY professional and I can see they do what they can to please as many people as possible. read more

Denied my 16 year old care for a very injured shoulder he needed to be seen for because he had a low fever. The fear mongering and denial of care because of "covid protocol" that has been going on for 18 months is immoral, unethical and downright awful. Many people carrying covid DO NOT GET FEVERS. Are medical practices only in the business of delivering care now to what they "deem" healthy patients? To discriminate against a 16 year old boy. The sensor thermometer registered 3 different readings in less than 10 minutes. 90 degree day, my son has think bangs and his body was in trauma from his injury. We were asked to leave. I guess the masks don't work afterall! Anyone who thinks this is "normal" needs to wake up. This is getting out of hand. It's unfortunate we now need to move on after 13 years of seeing wonderful Drs here but I won't support a "big business" company that is just falling in line with a state executive order (these are NOT LAWS) to deny care to any patient. No one in the scheduling department will help me or ask a doctor if they can see me. The emergency room last night told me to see Dr. Nourbash for my knee within 1-2 days. I just moved here from Seattle, WA where I had a few previous knee surgeries, but for a different problem. They declined to see me, until my medical records get sent, which could take up to 90 days, it goes through a huge call center at the University hospital. I can show them my records on my phone, through my chart, but they still declined. So I'm supposed to find my own crutches, since the hospital didn't have any, but told me to use them.... For 90 days? I have a job where I can't do that. Doctor offices in Seattle help you with your records, and these people flat out deny it. The 2 girls on the phone were rude, and I was crying. Do you know what it is like to not walk?! I'm disappointed for no help. read more

In the last 6 months I have broken both 5th metatarsal bones in my feet. I broke the first one in November 2018 and was seen by Dr Ohara. He has a very timid and conservative approach to the way he lets things heal. He also doesn't remember you from one appointment to the next. You're simply a number and an X-ray. Every visit was the same question, you're not working? What do you do? I am a very active person in sports and a physical lifestyle and he chose to let me sit at home for 3 months instead of doing a 20 minute surgery and cutting the healing in half. Now 5 months post injury the fracture is still not healed and still causes pain. I asked for surgery numerous times but was always answered the same about the only people who get the surgery are the ones who don't listen and keep putting pressure on it. I broke the second one in March and decided to go to a different doctor and that doctor recommended the surgery and was confused as to why I didn't have surgery on the first. 3 weeks post surgery I'm able to walk and put weight on my most recent break(which was worse). If you're an active person and wish to be active sooner rather than later I would recommend seeing a different doctor. If you have time to spare and don't mind being on the couch for months at a time Ohara is the doctor for you. He also has a very rude nurse and if you chose him you'll know who she is. read more

In January 2022, I had a full shoulder replacement performed by Dr. Obermeyer. I couldn't be more happier with the outcome of the surgery and the entire process before and after the surgery. Dr. Obermeyer fully explained all my nonsurgical options before I committed to the surgery. Dr. Obermeyer and his team, followed up constantly before and after the surgery. I had my physical therapy after the surgery at Barrington Orthopedics under the constant supervision of Dr. Obermeyer. His post surgery follow ups and recommendations were amazing. I've received orthopedic care in both Utah and Illinois, and this is by far my favorite orthopedic office. I was looking for an orthopedic office in the Schumburg area who could transfer me from a removable cast to a hard cast. First i went to another office, and only walked away in pain and tears. They hadn't bothered aligning my wrist/arm straight when they set the cast. Within hours my arm was sore, throbbing, and swollen. I called and spoke with the doctor a few times, but all she said was to take pain killers and call her the next morning. I didn't bother. I found Barrington Orthopedic Specialists and scheduled an appointment. They were able to get me in the very next day. Dr. Matthew Bernstein was my physician. He removed the cast, took new x-rays, and talked to me about my injuries, before he recasted my arm. I could tell immediately he knew what he was doing. The assistant wrapped the areas to be casted in thick sheets of cotton, then applied the cast. While it's setting, Dr. Bernstein stablized my hand and elbow straight to make sure everything is aligned naturally without strain. Towards the end, he pressed my palm in between his for the same purpose. Before I left, they made sure that the cast was not too tight or too lose, and told me specifically to call at anytime if I feel any discomfort, and they can recast it for me. I went in a total of 3 more times to replace the cast. Everytime i received attentive care from both the doctor and the physician assistant. They even gave me copies of the xrays to keep. Injuring my dominant hand is no small issue. If it didn't recover properly, I would have to deal with the consequences for the rest of my life. Dr. Bernstein and the staff at Barrington Orthopedic Specialist made sure I wouldn't have to worry about that. Thanks guys! I'm happy to be typing this with a perfectly functional right wrist :) p.s. they also have an office in elk grove. seems like the physicians split their time in between the two. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I went to see Dr. O'Hara at the Schaumburg office for a problem with my foot. The first appointment I had, they were late calling me to the exam room. I waited approximately 15 minutes after my appointment time to be called back. I then went through an interview with the medical assistant. They took a bunch of xrays and returned me to the exam room to wait some more. Over an hour after my appointment time Dr. O'Hara finally came in (mind you...my appointment was FIRST thing in the morning and he was running THAT late??). He talked to me for a little bit, told me he'd give me a cortisone shot to help with pain and told me I needed surgery. OK, fine. He leaves while they "prepare" the cortisone shot. Half an hour later they return with the shot and an ultrasound machine. My appointment took over two hours. For my follow-up visit, my appointment was mid-morning. The waiting room was PACKED when I got there (10 minutes early). I was promptly checked in. And waited. And waited and waited and waited. Finally, 45 minutes after my appointment time I was still in the waiting room. I told them to take me out of their schedule and that I was leaving. I have ZERO patience for doctors who do not value the time of their patients. If you want to spend more time with your patients, that is wonderful. But ALLOW for the time in your schedule. Do not pack the appointments in just to make them wait! I will be finding a new orthopedist. read more
