The offices and exam rooms are dirty. The surgical suite looks like a storage room with a bed & xray machine. There are boxes all over and books piled up. This is where they do procedures! Sterile-hardly. Impossible to get through to anyone and as far as leaving a message on the portal-no one responds. If you're thinking of going to Premier Pain, think again. read more

Kudos to Dr Kapoor and his staff. Being new to spinal injections for moderate to severe stenosis, Dr Kapoor walked me through my third injection with professionialism, empathy, and compassion. He makes his patients feel comfortable with the procedures alleviating any apprehension, thus having an almost pain free experience with 100% relief. I don't think she should be a receptionist and should find a different job. Update: They had no idea why I was coming in for my appointment today. Every single aspect of my experience with Premier Pain and Spine was a giant clusterf*ck. SCHEDULING I had a HORRIBLE time trying to even schedule an appointment in the first place. I called THREE TIMES (on three separate days) before I even received a call back. (It goes to a VM, and states calls after 3p will be returned the next business day.) It then took TWO back-and-forth calls to schedule my appointment. A week before my appointment, they called and told me that I needed to reschedule. When I balked, because (1) I've been in pain for NINE MONTHS and I was finally supposedly going to get some type of relief (2) I took time off of work for this appointment (3) I got a sitter for my kids, I was then told, "Oh, you don't need to reschedule: you just need to come in 1/2 hour early because the doctor is going to leave early." WHAT?! So why are you telling me I needed to completely reschedule then?? My initial appointment was at 2:45...so then I was told that my new appointment time was on the same day at 2:15. A few days prior, I received a "confirmation" email stating that my appointment time was 3:00. I didn't know if that was the arrival time, or the actual appointment time, and so I then had to go through the process of calling and waiting for a call back. The day OF my appointment, they called me a few hours beforehand to switch which doctor I was seeing because they "didn't want to keep (you) waiting past (your) appointment time." But...they told me the doctor was supposed to leave early, and that's why my appointment was changed in the first place? Again: so which is it??? PROCEDURE PREP INSTRUCTIONS When my appointment was scheduled, I was asked what medicines and vitamins I was taking. I gave all of that information, and was specifically told to stop taking my prenatals 5 days prior to the procedure, but was never instructed to stop taking my Ibuprofen. OFFICE VISIT I took one 600mg Ibuprofen 9 hours before my appointment. When I arrived, I was told by the nurse that, because of this, they could not do the procedure on me, and that I would have to reschedule. WHAT?! I WAS SO UPSET. All of this for NOTHING! Why was I not given the correct instructions??? I was asked to recount the conversation, and then was told, "This has happened a few times now." So I'm not the first? I asked them what they were going to do to help remedy the situation. They obviously tried to appease me, and gave me Trigger Point Injections at the doctor's suggestion. (And I figured she was an expert..). They then had me schedule the original procedure (epidural) for the following week. The injections I received that day hurt like a m-fer and actually made my pain WORSE than it had been: I had never had any type of shooting pain until those injections! POST VISIT I was told that someone would call to follow up with me the next day. No one ever did. I called THEM two days later, had to leave a message, and then wait for a medical assistant to call me back. I was told that the pain was normal and TO TAKE Tylenol or IBUPROFEN FOR THE PAIN. "Um...I have a SPINAL INJECTION in 4 days. I was told not to take ANY NSAIDs..." The MA THEN looked up my chart information and said, "Oh, you're right," and told me not to take the Ibuprofen she had just suggested. So...if I didn't catch their error - the same one they told me the first time around (to keep taking the Ibuprofen) - I would have been unable to do the spinal AGAIN. OVERALL I have absolutely no faith in this medical office/business whatsoever. They didn't get ONE THING correct in ANY of the encounters (phone and in person) I had with them. Given how horrible they were in every aspect, I decided to outright cancel the appointment for the epidural. I don't trust them not to eff up my spine and make my pain worse than it already is. My mother went and saw Dr. Said. She hasn't been able to stand for 6 months due to back pain. She was confronted by the friendly staff with a smile. This clinic refused to give me a second epidural after I refused to make them my sole pain provider and be subjected to a drug screen. I was being treated by another medical provider for a more serious health condition and didn't want to compromise my treatment with that provider. I was upfront and provided this information prior to being given the first shot. My pain subsided eventually, but it would have been a lot quicker with the treatment that I needed. After this negative experience with this clinic, they have continued to contact me. Yesterday they contacted me via phone and e-mail on my birthday. I absolutely love this company. The doctors and therapists and workers are extremely efficient, nice, kind, smart and intelligent. Dr Asma Asif is my favorite. Because my back is horrible and to me her hands are like the hands of god. They are that good. She is such a good doctor. All the doctors at this office are good. Dr Patel was my first doctor when I first started coming here. He was very good. But then he had an emergency and couldn't attend to me so that's when I started seeing doctor Asif and at such a good time. Then I started seeing Rhiannon Mazenis like after I got shots on my back, which is usually once a month for the trigger point injections or every 3-4 months for the good one which is the epidural injection. So I see Rhiannon like once a month and she is awesome, we talk about a lot of stuff, I really like her, it is very hard not to like her. Then my last person is a very important person in this company in my life. His name is Kevin Elavia and he is a physical therapist and is phenomenal at his job. Today I had an appointment with him and I met some new people and I had such a good time! I was laughing so much. It was great. I got my workout and I had a great time. Every time I see Kevin I learn something new, sometimes it's from people that are there and a lot of times Kevin tells me about certain things and I tell him certain things too. I love Kevin as a physical therapist, the best I've ever had. If I ever become a millionaire I would pay Kevin to become my therapist because I value him that much, I value that company, dr Asif, dr Patel, Rhiannon, Kevin, the workers there I forget some of their names, but they are very nice!! read more

Actually finding this place and the correct door was an....adventure.... We drove around the business park, searching for this place, and parked a the back entrance by mistake at first, and drove around to find the front. It made me uneasy to be doing this procedure here at a location not in a hospital. We walked in, finally at the correct door, and was greeted by "Dre" at reception who was sweet, personable, and kind. The clinic seems updated, clean, and comforting. We did the routine paperwork, and then sat to in the clean & updated waiting room watching Ellen on TV while Dorie & fish swam in the near by tank. I was called back up to reception to answer a health & wellness questionnaire on their iPad, which took 5-10 miniatures, returned it and awaited with mi madre to be called back to the consultation room. My name was called and we followed the nurse (?) back to patient room 4, all the way back on the left, and it was a disproportionately huge room, for my consultation with the doctor. I sat on the patient table (see my pictures) and the girl (nurse?) took my blood pressure & heart rate, and quickly reviewed what brought me in today. Then after she left, another lady (not my doctor) came in to do much of the same, so I explained everything again, wondering when I would meet my doctor who would be doing my procedure. I was getting increasingly anxious at the upcoming injections, so I flipped on my Pandora App and listened to "Relaxation Radio" and the nurse said that was awesome, and they should play it thought out the whole facility to keep patients calm and relaxed by the soothing sounds of "Deuter" and "Liquid Mind" which absolutely helps me, I even sleep to this music....it would be great to help the harsh cold "ambiance" this place exudes, some relaxation music wouldn't hurt. We had to wait long periods of time in between nurses/doctors coming and going, longer patient room wait time than average I would say. Finally the Doctor who came in, which was switched last minute from who I was prepared to see (Amit Mehat is who I researched and was expecting) and then I learn that day he is on vacation and without being notified they switched my appointment and procedure to a different doctor, of which I cannot even remember his name :( but he was very kind, he poked my pain areas and wanted to start with just a nerve blocker in the back , but I had to help him understand that my main life-altering pain was in the front, in my chest. So he assessed me and found the joints he would put the injections into, and then left. My nurse came back in to put the IV line in for the "sedation" which basically you are just given drugs to calm you but you are by no means put out or put under,or even near "twilight sedation" level... you're awake and communicable during the injections. Scary. But they do a good job putting you at ease. (Cameron did a great job, shout out to helping chill out this Anxious Ashley!) My nurse did a great job with my usually troublesome veins, got the IV line in, bing bang boozle, then we waited for Cameron to take me back to the sterile procedure room, where they informed me I had to flip my gown around so it was open to the front, something I brought up to the nurse, when she told me to put it on with gown opening to the back... so I was right, but now I had to flip it around without snagging my new IV port line thing...whatever. We talked about my allergies and aversions to medications before we began, then I was told to lay down, and I could have my phone with my to play my relaxation radio music to help calm me. They strapped up a BP cuff on one arm, and administered relaxation drugs into my IV port on the other arm... then it's hard to remember...they begin the X-ray guided injections as per needed by each patient. When completed in procedure room, they move you to the "recovery" area where you get juice and crackers and wait to become more functional until you are discharged and can leave... Then just head home and rest, the MD will probably want a follow up appointment in 2-3 weeks, which you can just schedule later because at this point you are drugged up, starving and just want to go home. (P.s. you WILL need a Responsible adult driver to take you home and watch over you, no cab rides home, you need to be monitored for 24 hrs after the procedure) Everyone was very kind, comforting, and personable, which greatly help put my anxiety at ease. read more

This place is such a contradiction. On the one hand, Dr. Arpan Patel is a wonderful doctor. He is sympathetic, and can pinpoint your troubles easily. He does a great job of explaining what he can and cannot do, and has great bedside manner when you are getting a procedure. The other side of this place, is the administrative side. People sit around for a long time, waiting for their appointments. The admin staff seem unorganized or over worked. I would strongly recommend Dr Patel, as he can and will help you with your pain...but be prepared for a long wait. read more

In reading the negative reviews, I have to wonder if they all have been just with the Schaumburg office. I go to the Downers Grove location, and the staff there is wonderful. If it's not too inconvenient, try DG. It is conveniently located right off 355, on Highland right across from Good Sam's. I see Dr. Said and Jeffrey Johnson, the PA, and I just love Natalia, who is a medical assistant for procedures. Hopefully they will iron out their staffing issues in Schaumburg, if they have not already. read more

Been going to them for 3 years for neck and arm and upper spine pain. I see Dr Arpan Patel who is the head of the group. Extremely knowledgeable, great bedside manner, and offer the latest options in pain management beyond pills. Highly recommend 2 locations Schaumbugh and downers grove. Dr. Dasgupta didn't want to listen to my explanations. $500 for a consultation, too. My condition can't be cured by surgery and all of the other procedures don't offer relief. My only hope for a pain free life is medication. When I explained this, the doctor had a fit when I told him I am using Methadone. I have tried eight other pain meds and Methadone is the only one that works and as it is, I am undermedicated. Not everybody has addictive tendencies and I am one of those. I also have an extremely high tolerance to opioids. I don't care about any side effects. I have 16 medical conditions, I am 62, and I do not expect to live a long time. This doctor just wanted to take my money. I don't care how many positive reviews he receives. Perhaps some of the other doctors at Premier Pain & Spine are very good, but Dr. Dasgupta is not read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AT PREMIER! Although they promise to deal with your pain they do not. (Dr. Asif did just that). I went to Premier so I could have all things, (medication, procedures, physical therapy and later, a spinal simulator,)in one place as car ride are very painful and take up to 9 days of pain to recover. I have a failed back surgery, stenosis in my neck and a botched shoulder surgery and most of the time my nerves are firing. I suffer greatly unmediated and find it hard to take care of myself. Dr. Asif assured me she would help if I detoxed from fentinyl patches and oxy contin wich I was currently on that helped alot. I did over 3 weeks ago and she will only prescribe gabapentin and a muscle relaxer. This is the typical pain doctor that wants to do as many procedures and make money while you suffer. I fired them and am in search of someone who IS a doctor and doesn't just claim to be. Stay away. this is a fake pain group. read more

I've been managing severe back and neck pain for nearly ten years, while trying to retain my quality of active life. I find Dr Dasgupta and the whole staff here to be compassionate, fair and efficient. When dealing with chronic pain, it's as important to work with someone who makes sure you don't abuse medicine as it is to attain pain relief. I trust this place for both. The Schamburg office has been going down hill really fast. Staff were fired for reasons that are not true. With the new staff I've been waiting for a long time to be seen. Why, because they forgot get you checked in and they put you in a room and forget your there. Now they want to cut my pain killers. I'm not on much a day. I need the 3x a day medication. Here is the really crazy part. They want people to go see a psychologist for the pain. Other people going there told me the same story. I have never done marijuana before, but they're pushing patients to go that way. I do not want to do marijuana. read more

I had a really bad encounter with the P.A. that I saw yesterday (June 7, 2019). I went in for refills of two pain meds. It is a complicated situation so I will be brief. What it boils down to is the P.A. didn't believe me and decided not to give me a refill on one of the meds. I am and have been experiencing the most severe pain of my life over the past few months and the staff seems be indifferent to my requests for help in managing and controlling this pain. I have been a patient there for around ten years (I don't recall exactly). I was told that "we can discuss this on your next visit." I stated that I needed to see the P.A. again that day. I do not want to be in this debilitating pain for a month. After a few minutes I was told that they had done more research and that I would be given the refill. A patient should not have to be treated like this. The doctors are great but I am not so sure about the staff. read more

In 2010 on a field expedition to the Congo my group and I were accosted by villagers from the nearby town. After beating,stabbing and robbing us we were left on the side of the road for dead. Fortunately for us a UN caravan spotted us soon after and they were able to arrange an emergency airlift to the govt hospital in Kinshasa. I was at the hospital for 3 weeks recovering in misery. I needed to get out of there so I had a Dutch doctor from medicine sans frontières give me the go ahead to leave the hospital and get treatment in the US. Fast forward to 2012 and I still have back pain and neck pain from the incident. I get by thanks to the encouragement and support of friends and family. One day while I was out on the lecture circuit in Dubai giving a speech to the UAE chamber of commerce I happened to meet Dr. Kiran Chekka by chance. He was in the emirates for a couple weeks consulting the govt on hospital standards & ethics. He also happened to be based in Chicago. I explained to Dr. Chekka my situation and asked if he could help. He said he would be able to do something for me. I had my secretary arrange a visit to his office upon my return. "Le courage, c'est l'art d'avoir peur sans que cela paraisse." Those were the first words Dr. Chekka said to me as he walked into the room. I asked Dr. Chekka for a translation as I do not speak French. He said "Courage is the art of being frightened and not showing it." How right you are Dr. Chekka and with that I was at ease in his office. I can say without a doubt that my situation is a better one because of the treatment I received from Dr. Chekka and his team at Premier Pain Specialists. You can tell the whole team has a genuine passion for their profession and they approach each issue with compassion. In 1995 I was fortunate enough to meet Mother Theresa at her orphanage in Calcutta. This people are fantastic. From the time i walked in i was very nervous about getting the Cervical Epidural Steroid Injection. From the time i walked in they were so nice the girl at the front desk knew i was nervous and a little unsure about everything that was going to happen and she treated with so much understanding. I was offered to have an iv sedative to help calm me down during the procedure and i said yes yes yes lol. from the young man that set the iv up to the doctor i was treated like gold. They were all treating me like i was family. Well when they finished with me i was so surprised, no pain at all just a tiny pinch and everything else was painless. the doctor even helped me out with info about another problem i was having. The first year or so I was pretty happy with this place. However, as time went on, there were many problems I experienced. It is very difficult many times to reach them on the phone. If you call as a client, you get forwarded to a call center which then takes a message and you have to wait for a call back. Recently I wanted to cancel my service with them and change to another office. I also had a billing questions, for some reason they sent me a bill for $100. I called twice, once on friday morning then again on monday, no one got back to me on either issue. So finally, I call and pressed #1 as if I were a physician and I was immediately put through to the front desk. The woman that answered was so rude. She said "that's not my job here." So I told her that I had been trying to get through to someone and that's why I pressed one. She kept complaining instead of just taking down my concerns and saying she'll have someone call me back. A few other problems are that almost every visit, they would send me extra bills, many of them they ended up cancelling because they said it was a mistake. The point is that they couldn't do it the right way so I had to waste my time, multiple times, to get ahold of someone in the Billing department. I went there for 2 spinal injections and then once a month or every other month for pain management. Every time I came there, I had to wait at least 15 minutes after my appointment time. Then the nurse asks a list of questions, which is fine. But then the dr. (a different one every time) comes in another 10 - 15 minutes later and asks the SAME exact questions. Each time I went there I felt like I was getting ridiculed for getting a norco refill. For the first 1.5 years or so, I would spread out a month prescription for at least 2 months. So in 2016, about 2 times I had to go sooner because my back was giving me more problems and they seem to give me grief over it. Also, for the longest time, until I complained, They would have me do a drug test literally every other visit. They also sent me an extra bill of about $80 each urine test until I finally told them they need to stop. Listen, I can keep going on and on, complaining. There are some really nice people here but the majority I dealt with gave me the impression of bad customer service and that they weren't really concerned. The second back injection that I had, I asked them if I could be put to sleep for the shot because the previous shot, I felt the needle. I ended up having a panic attack from the needle. The next time I came in, one of the nurses said "that's crazy." I would not go here again. " read more

I have been receiving treatment for chronic pain for 6 years with only moderate relief. I was referred here and they made me try the exact same therapies I had already received other places just because I hadn't done it at their office, thus delaying actually treating my pain by forcing me to do things my medical record could prove I had already done with no success. After a few appointments I complained the medication they had me using wasn't helping for very long at a time, so they told me to get rid of it and try something else. I followed their directions and the new treatment was terrible. I called within a few days in TEARS and they made me wait until the end of the week to get an appointment to come back in. When I finally got into their office, they refused to treat my problem with the medication I was previously using, suggested medications I had tried previously that didn't work (which is in my record!), and refused to try any different medications, basically suggesting I was "drug seeking" and then referred me to someone else for "long term pain management". They also suggested I do injections on my shoulder, even though 95% of my pain is elsewhere, and then suspiciously questioned why I didn't want to. Maybe because I have a high deductible and don't want to pay for treatment to an area that you can't prove or even show evidence that it might have something to do with the pain I have elsewhere? This place was a complete waste of my time. I wish I had never gone here. read more

I am getting treated by Dr. Dasgupta, whom I feel is a good doctor. The Staff is friendly. But, there are a couple of operational policies that are particularly annoying. 1. I understand that they expect you to arrive 15 minutes early. Apparently that is so that someone can click a computer mouse indicating that you arrived, and take your Co-pay. If you arrive close to your appointment time, or even just slightly past, you are deemed "late". If you arrive even 1 minute outside a 5-minutes window, that is a No-No", and you are told that you have to re-schedule. On the flip-side, it is OK for them to keep you waiting 1/2-hour and more. 2. After a procedure you HAVE to return a couple of weeks later for a "consultation" about how your feeling. They charge your Co-Pay, take your blood pressure, ask you your pain level, and make a couple of summary statements. This could very easily be done over the phone, but then they would not be able to charge an office visit and a Co-pay. Also, every time I have gone to one of these "consultations", the interviewer is someone I have never seen before - never the same person. In my opinion this person's only knowledge of your history is what they are reading in a folder. My last consultation was with someone who almost tripled the strength of my medication. I thought that questionable, and did not take it at that strength until I spoke with Dr. Dasgupta, days later. While my procedures and pain treatment history has been acceptable to me, I have a hard time agreeing with these policies. read more

Step by step, from trying to make an appt, office visit and finally, billing. 1. To make an apt., you must leave a message, they will call you back within 24-48 hours. Really? Can't pay for someone to answer the phones? 2. Girls in reception, very friendly and kind. 3. Waiting time can be extensive! Usually over an hour after scheduled appointment. Twice, doctor wasn't even in building yet. Last and final visit, they changed my appt time without notifying me so I showed up at 11, MY appt time. They send someone to the crowded waiting room to inform me I was 12 minutes late so they needed to reschedule. I had been waiting for this procedure appt for weeks, needing pain relief and so looking forward to this. Interesting how doctor was in procedure at this point since they said I was late, he should have been free during "my time". 4. Before my scheduled procedure I had an mri, called looking for results to make sure no new changes, making sure procedure would stay same. Left messages, no return call. Finally someone answered phone, rude and condescending. They really feel they are doing you a favor. Guess what? I pay for your services, you are working for me. It's my life, my pain, my hard earned money, I pay for this. 5. Depending on who rooms you, good luck! The young paramedics who work there are friendly, but the young lady is a cold and rude employee! 4. Dr Chekka and nurse practitioner very kind, no problems with their procedures or recommendations. 5. Billing is a nightmare! Can't get someone to answer and if you do they don't have answers, usually have to give to supervisor to figure out mistakes. It took over one year to get billing corrected! They have you test urine also, since they prescribe so many pain meds, I understand. But from one sample, they charged over $1000.00 in fees. With all the meds they already know I'm on its overkill, testing me for nicotine use? Wonder why our insurance rates are so high. 6. You can be the best doctor in the world but if the people you have working for you and your office policies are flawed, it can ruin your reputation. I had never been late, always waited for them and one time THEY change my time by 15 minutes, you're off their schedule. I wasn't a new patient, having family take time off of work to drive me and they treat me like this? What a great facility. I've been a patient here for about 18 months now and I have zero complaints. Front office staff is friendly and the medical staff is top notch. I called yesterday to make an appointment due to my severe back pain and they were able to get me in within 24 hours. So thankful for that!! read more

I went to Premiere Pain for over a year for various types of inyections ordered by my orthopedic surgeon (not someone at this practice). I chose to come here because it was the ONLY place I could find that would do these procedures under sedation ON SITE....everywhere else said you could either do them without OR,if you eanred sedation, they eould do it but you had to go to so and so hospital....gets very very expensive that way. I don't know about you but...I was in so much pain already the LAST thing I wanted to do was veing wide awake while someone stuck needles in my neck and back. I had trigger point injections, epidural, and facet inyections. Dr. Dasgupta performed most of the procedures but not always....all the staff involved in the procedures were AWESOME! Had a tiny problem with billing but eventually it was all straightened up correctly. I REALLY liked going here although there billing method did change 6 months into things....not for my pockets merriment but...alrhough not thrilled by it, I still appreciate this place offers sedation ON SITE!!! The problem with the billing and some small issues with return calls and such was the only reason for the 4 stars. read more
