not much of a women's center anymore. very industrial area, which i like. surprised citymark is…read moresupposed to be building high end residences here across from walmart and the automotive shop. very different design for citymark as well - when i purchased one of their condos (m2i) there was a lot of architectural talk about matching the facade to the surrounding neighborhood - didn't work out that way, but i liked the exposed structural materials at that location. in the end - a condo at this location cannot be worth more than $100k or $200 a square foot for 600sf. still crazy expensive compared to what the land was sold for at around $160k for the whole lot then resold recently at $2.1 million supposedly. better question - how could a location like this be worth anything at all when there are hundreds of condos proposed for construction in la mesa on their gis website? be careful starting a business that requires foot traffic here, when m2i first started the vast majority of the businesses in that area went belly up within a few years and that was in a high traffic city location - almost no-one walks around this area. the entitled design certainly is not industrial enough for the neighborhood - makes me super sad to read about the la mesa women's club at the library while also spending $320k on a unit at m2i then learning about what they are building here / how the developer/woman's group is suing the church next door. i am a bit ashamed to have paid for one of these units from citymark in the past - m2i 506 at 1050 island ave. that was me. also of note - citymark has a habit of installing very limited finished with the expectation that owners finish the interior of the units. that can work, but you should pay appropriately. personally - i expect more from a woman's club. primarily: consideration for the longevity of the city and the architectural design which they have strong control over at this location. they definitely sold out here while beating up on the church they grew up alongside. not cool - that says something about its current members. when you have property and an opportunity to build something that develops the city you are supposed to be shepherding, but you choose to sell out like this - there's something very wrong or entirely self centered going on. this proposed citymark design also shows that the women's club does not care about fabrication or industry whatsoever (which this area is rife with), just high end residential which is not going to help the la mesa tax base. expect a glut of units in la mesa at rock bottom prices with the intent of having you drive to work on a regular basis instead of working locally (there are already huge vacancies.) also expect higher prices in this area because of fewer low dollar residences.

This VFW post is very much like your traditional dive bar, at least to the uninitiated like us, but I'm sure it is much more meaningful to its members. There was a friendly comradery throughout, as everyone seemed to know each other, and enjoyed each other's company. They even treated us young dumb tourists from Portland with respect and kindness. Our drinks were strong, cheap, and came with several stories from a motley crew of characters. I felt honored and privileged to be amongst people who fought so hard for our country, and I wish all of them health and good fortune going forward.

You always think of little old ladies when you hear Woman's Club, at least I do, and actually, that is what this club used to be like many years ago. Now, it's filled with woman of all ages. Most just realize how cool it is to live in our little beach community and it's another way of communing with others and helping your hood out at the same time. The club has been in OB for almost 80 years, but has struggled as of late, due to lack of membership. But they have a new young VP, Mel, who has fired things up and there have been a lot of new members just in the last few weeks. The place is rented out for church groups, yoga, wedding receptions, parties...at very reasonable prices. Think about them the next time you need a place for your function. Really reasonable rental prices. What most don't know is, they have this awesome community garden that surrounds the place and anyone can pay $50 for the year and grow their own veggies in their own little plot! For $35 a yr, you can share one! With the whole farm to table movement, it's very au courant!! They meet twice a month, first and third Mondays and always have a lot of fun things planned. They just had their first annual fundraiser and lots of gifts were donated by local merchants. There was a good turn out and many won lots of cool prizes in their raffle and auction. Bigger and better next year! They will be helping out at the Halloween Carnival on Oct 26 at the Rec Center on Santa Monica Ave with cupcakes, they will be at all the cool little craft fairs on the Veterans' Plaza lawn at the end of Newport on Oct 19, and on Dec 7, 14, and the 21, we have our Thanksgiving Pot Luck on Nov 4, and we will be in the OB Christmas Parade which is always a wonderful family night. All this for only $25 a year! LIfetime memberships are $1000. Here is some cool history about the WC....The Ocean Beach Woman's Club has been a "Hub of Activity" in OB since 1934. We are one of the oldest civic groups in San Diego. Those three years were such a beautiful and formative experience for him! Not only did he learn many new skills, but also he left completely prepared for Pre K. His educational foundation was set strongly and now he absolutely loves school! All his teachers were loving and caring and he has created such incredible memories at Imperial Learning Academy, both with his amazing teachers and his sweet friendships. I am very appreciative to all the teachers that he had, especially Ms. Salma who was with him all three years. Throughout our experience at Imperial Learning Academy, both Ms. Salma and the director Ms. Monica showed us the utmost kindness and care. I was a single mother at the time and there were a few instances when I found myself in a difficult situation and they both demonstrated understanding. I cannot recommend this daycare/preschool enough! Not only because of the wonderful teachers but also their interesting and effective curriculum as well as the thoughtful activities and events throughout the year. To top it off, it's very affordable. Truly one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I am very satisfied with the curriculum they offer. -the infant teachers patiently and lovingly assisted my infant in taking a bottle (and she was a stubborn one!) -I truly feel like the teachers are partners with me in raising my children. They bring up concerns and praise depending on how my children are doing. -they notify parents way ahead of time of any holiday hours/closures. -they assisted me with my military fee assistance paperwork. -I get to see pictures and videos of my children all day everyday on the app. Along with real time updates on meal times, diaper changes, activities, etc. Overall, I love Eastlake Kindercare and would 100% recommend their daycare services to anyone in need of childcare!

Another staff member who is a teacher in the 3s class Olivia, stated to the director Ashley, that they've disenrolled children for less and teachers would quit their jobs behind my daughter's autism. when talking to Ashley Enwia the director about this situation I was ask to ignore the abuse on my child. The assistant director Alexa stated to me that she did in fact see and hear the horrible things staff members had to say about my daughter but she brushed it off of her shoulder and said I should the same. I made a licensing report and the director manipulated the staff intimidating them to not speak up against the abuse that involved my daughter or they'd be retaliated against! Even the licensing professional believed this event truly happened and has concern that there has been multiple cover ups to attempt not being caught by licensing. Kindercare being such a big corporation will attempt to appeal and remove any negative licensing complaints made against them and cover up any incidents under their company! I would never recommend this daycare to anyone, I've been a teacher and director for over 11 years amongst multiple companies. this is a constant repeated theme of this center. It is NOT an all inclusive center, if u have a child with autism or a disability please find somewhere else to go, I am not the only parent with this issue here. It's truly disgusting. Not to mention, there is no real structured curriculum, it's a glorified baby sitter center, far from a learning center. They charge an extra $30-$60 per week to teach your child how to read and write. I've literally never heard of such a ridiculous to have for a "learning center" . I'd like to add additionally, that I have reached out, and contacted corporate multiple times, and they "referred" me to the regional manager and district manager etc. Not one single person reached out to me to have a conversation after multiple attempts and voicemails.

They gave sucha homely care. My daughter started eating well and became more social. Teacher Ada is very warm friendly and approachable. They are very sensitive about your requests and preferences. They are also very flexible i have hardly been on time for pick ups or drop offs but they accomodate that very well. The reason m giving only 4 stars is cause idont see much circle time happening.i would really appreciate if there was more learning offered than just babysitting. But then my daughter is been here only for a month.. Shes still adjusting. I am very confident that next month when i bring this up they will review my request with as much care as before. I will update my review accordingly in few months
