The actual recreation center is amazing. Friendly staff and good community prices for the gym and classes offered.

Parking is available across the street in the MTA trolley station parking lot or on side streets in the surrounding neighborhoods. Contrary to conventional wisdom I recommend not arriving close to opening time. I was in line at 8:30, all the way down the block, and was not inside the building until 10:35. At about 9:45 the line started moving swiftly and no one had to wait on the sidewalk. I could have arrived at 10 AM and only waited an hour or less. YMMV. Process was seamless albeit uncomfortable with a cotton rod rammed up the schnoz. Also, they demand that photo identification be dropped in a plastic tub. I didn't seem them sterilizing the tub between patients.

COVID TESTING UPDATE - DECEMBER 2020…read more Since my last visit here to get a Covid test , a few things have changed. I don't think there is a time of the day when this place isn't packed . One month ago , I suggested coming at 10am ish because there was no line , but today when I returned to get another test at 8:30am , I had to wait in a 2hour line that wrapped around the block .. I would suggest coming ready to stand in line for a while ! They tell you that you need to register before entering the building ,but you really don't "HAVE" to . I didn't and my process was the exact same as everyone else's . Once getting into the building they take down your info and hand you a swab . Today they swabbed by nose for me , while last time I got to hold the swab and do it on myself . Parking is across the street in the trolley station parking lot . Results are expected via email or phone call within 2-4 days !

However, the worker that checked me in was slightly rude because she didn't understand what she was doing. She actually didn't know if I needed to change a couple things on my roll. Then she wasn't sure if a hard copy of the voter's registration is being mailed out. It's not. Everything is kept online these days. She actually acted as if it was my fault. I brought a friend who had an expired drivers license and no mail from her current address. However, she still voted. The building is clean. No air conditioning inside. The center has private front lot parking.

First to review (FTR), woohoo!…read more I attended a surprise birthday party at this venue, and it was an absolute blast! The community center was spacious, open, and bright. With about 100 guests, there was still plenty of room for everyone to sit comfortably. The celebrant had a special throne on the main stage, and the interior was beautifully decorated with bright lights and high ceilings. Thankfully, the AC worked well since it warmed up as the party got going. There was also an outdoor patio where they served tacos--always a win! The large kitchen made it easy for them to prep and serve food to all the guests. They even had a security guard keeping an eye on things, which was a nice touch. The Spring Valley Community Center also offers a variety of leisure services and lifelong learning opportunities for visitors of all ages. Some of the facility features include: lifelong learning and special interest programs, event and private rentals, children's day camps, adult and senior programs, youth programs, and fitness classes. If you're looking for a solid event venue with plenty of parking (depending on the day), ample restroom facilities, and a spacious, well-maintained setting for any special occasion, I highly recommend this spot!

While the venue appears a bit older, if does seem to be well maintained overall. They also have a good size weights/fitness area, something I haven't seen, or better, than in the few other Chula Vista rec centers I've been to.

I think at the time, 2003 or so, I was a sophomore and I was catching up on those community service hours (on top of it, I know). I remember I had to do a lot of trash pick up and cleaning up graffiti. Aside from that, in these last couple of years, I frequent the recreation center to play basketball (indoor). Their basket ball gym is so cool! First of all, its air conditioned. Second, they always music playing. And, finally, they have a total of 6 hoops. Two main ones and two on each side. However, sometimes they might have only a few down. It just depends. There's definitely regulars here who come in the afternoon to play five on five. Te best times to come are usually the first three hours after its opened. Its dead during the first couple of hours. Honestly, I love this place to shoot around, practice, relax and get away for a bit from everything. The following information below derives entirely and directly from the Chula Vista web site under recreation services. Built in 2000, the Otay Recreation Center includes a gymnasium, game room, patio, and a fitness center. The programs offered at the Otay Recreation Center accommodates a wide array of participants, ranging from toddlers to youth to senior citizens. The center contains a wide-spectrum of activities as well. The fitness center, which requires a membership, contains a variety of state-of-the-art equipment, including cardio machines, free weights, and weight lifting machines. The game room is open during our normal hours of operation for drop in play and consists of pool tables, foosball tables, a ping-pong table, and more. The gymnasium is available for open recreational play each night, for more information on the schedule, please calls the center or click on the link above. The Otay Recreation Center also offers a wide variety of recreational classes. These classes consist of many preschool classes, Ready, Set, Learn, Bumble Bee Sports, Apples to Zebras, Ballet, and more. I remember spending a lot of time at the snack bar. Go figure. Anyways, banquet hall we were housed in for the event was spacious and well kept. The tables were in good order and the chairs comfortable enough. The building offered a stage, clean restrooms, an area for the caterer to set up, and a good sounds system. The staff at the front as you walk into the building were welcoming and friendly. There are several parking lots and one adjacent to the banquet hall we were in. The land escaping immediately around the building we were in was very nice, but I did notice that the gold course needed some TLC. The grass was very uneven and not well kept up.

The damage was so severe, a big remodel is needed. Yet all that was told to my family and I was about minor work: new carpet, wall painting, new doors, updated drape holders, and the remodel will be done in a couple weeks. It has now been 3 different "completion dates", and not once we were told by the coordinator. We had to reach out every time and ask what exactly is going on there. Basically, there is not a 100% guaranteed date whatsoever when the work will be done (approximate completion is mid April.) Needless to say, MY WEDDING IS COMPLETELY CHANGING VENUES WITH ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY!!!! (Pitiful stress and anxious memory I'll always remember.) Thankfully I found out from my CATERING VENDOR that all March & most April events were being postponed &/or canceled. So the coordinator can notify other renters but not us? Really. I definitely feel ignored knowing we were reaching out and keeping in touch about the remodel... I've been more overwhelmed with wedding planning in the past 24 hours verses in the past year. Especially after speaking with quite a few places and knowing my venue budget could double with very slim options left... Good luck to those renters. You will need it!!!
