He listens, he maintains presence, demonstrates compassion in body language and questioning, and he is very measured in his questions such that premature conclusions are not reached. He understands that realism must be maintained and if a given exploration is not accurate in my view then it will not help me change my life. He maintains high professional conduct but remains very connected to my lines of thought. He is astute in picking out relevant themes and statements that I don't notice. Stay clear!! So unprofessional!! My review includes a bit of a lengthy story in order to understand what happened. First I am an executive assistant, and as with most assistants, I'm rather close to my boss since I deal with most of her day to day activities and errands. I have become close with my bosses son and daughter as well and have planned most events for them such as karate, dance, doctor appointments, etc. It was widely known that my bosses son had a huge issue with social anxiety. We tried everything we could to socialize him with no help. He is quite young. My boss then decided it was time for a psychologist, she went ahead and booked a few appointments and asked that I do research to see if I could find someone to help as well. I came across Dr. Slone on Yelp. I saw the rave reviews and instantly thought I should go ahead and book an appointment. I phoned him and received his voicemail. I decided to submit a form via his website so that he could call me back when he had a chance. I waited a day - since his voicemail says he typically responds in a day - and then left a voicemail as well as a follow up email describing who I was and the help I was in need of. A couple hours past and the Dr called back. I answered in typical fashion and he introduced himself, I was ready to be wowed by him since he seemed to have helped so many. BUT, all he kept saying was "this is the strangest thing" "this is just so strange" -- to which I tried to understand what he was saying so I kept saying "I'm sorry?" Because I couldn't understand why he kept repeating "this is so strange" with absolutely no explanation. Finally I asked "what's so strange?" To which he curtly replied "to have an ASSISTANT call me to set up an appointment." I laughed because I thought it was a joke and was about to begin to explain the situation, after all in my email I did provide him with my boss's direct number so that he could reach out to either one of us. He cut me off and simply said "my practice is full, I'm not taking any new patients." CLICK. I stared at the phone completely flabbergasted. Worst experience booking an appointment, especially with someone who should be helping people through rough times in their life. EVERY other psychologist I reached out to extended all venues of help the poor child. If there were negative stars I'd give those instead. read more

I reached out to Dr. Slone because I am going through an extremely hard time and need help coping. In less than the duration of one year, my father was in ICU for 6 weeks and died. 2 days after he died, my mother got diagnosed with terminal cancer and now I am having to care for her. During the timeframe my father was hospitalized, I very badly sprained by ankles and feet, and one foot is still recovering. Late last year, I got into a fluke car accident and totaled my car. Then a few weeks ago my beloved one pet (basically my one baby) died suddenly from an aggressive cancer. Absolutely none of what I am stating is an exaggeration. No one person could possibly go through all of this in such a short duration and keep their full sanity. With this being said, I reached out to Dr. Slone right after my pet died. He has very good reviews and so I thought that maybe he could help me cope with the barrage of drama being thrown my way. He said I had to submit my insurance information, which I promptly did. 1-2 weeks went by and NO one got back to me. I had to reach out to follow up, only to be told they could not get ahold of anyone. So it was left to me to figure out, which again I promptly did. He did reach out to me a few days later and stated that I am covered, but that I still have a high deductible. Also, he was quick to mention that he wouldn't work with an employment assistance program, even if my employer states he is under it. Four things things bothered me about this: 1. He was very quick to mention that I have a high deductible, but neglected to mention the fact that I have already met my first deductible and because of this, my co-pay would only be 20% of the office visit. I was the one who had to tell him this. 2. It took weeks to get to this insurance information. 3. And finally, after getting, the insurance information..... the earliest he can see me is a time 2 1/2 weeks away. 4. Even if my employer states he is covered by their employment assistance program, he won't honor it. (But this one was the least of my concerns). I seem to be in the middle of crises that just won't end, and at this point .... I need the best help possible to cope. I shouldn't have to BEG for this help or wait weeks for it. I also need to feel that the therapist I choose WANTS to help. And I am sorry, I did not in anyway get this impression. If you are an existing patient and he is helping you, by all means continue. But if you are a new patient..... use caution. If my situation wasn't enough for a sense of urgency, I don't know what is. read more
