If you want the worst customer service and a bunch of excuses, this is the place. Unless you spell it out for them and tell them how to do their job they'll do whatever and say "that's what you said." All over the shop are disclaimers saying no refunds for haircuts and that's "your fault." That's a terrible to take care of your customers and stay in business. I don't see this place lasting when every visit I made over the last 6 months they increased their price $5. They lost this customer and probably will lose more. read more

Walked in for a line up, just wanted to get cleaned up around the ears. I was greeted by the lady with glasses and accent. She told me she can line me up, but the moment she asked if I wanted the back rounded, I asked how much it would be to taper it. She said it'll cost more and I said okay that is fine. She took the cape off me and told me she didn't want to cut my hair anymore because she was scared she would mess it up. I still wanted my line up, so I told her I will just get the line up with no taper. She refused. She just kept saying she didn't want to mess up up. When I asked them if they are just going to refuse my service, the other barber lady said they can refuse service if they want to. read more

I'll start by saying that any negative reviews are just wrong. I feel bad for the guy who got his cut poorly the several times he went there. Talk about bad luck. I have been going to this establishment for roughly 10 years. Basically the time Ive been living in Arizona. (Cali boy!) Anyways, this place feels like a home away from home. I have my own barber who knows exactly how I like my hair cut. I walk in and they all welcome me by saying "what up Big Mike?!" Then we proceed to BS about all types of sports. Its what a man should want when he steps into a barber shop. These people know you by first name and know exactly how you want your hair cut. I have gone through various ways to deal with my hair and they help you all the way through it. They give recommendations and the whole process is a pleasant experience. I am one of many many people I see go in there as regulars and they treat them all the same. At the conclusion of the cut they place a warm towell around your head to aide with the cut. They then give you the razor shave all as part of the experience. A true throwback to how a barber shop is supposed to be. Of course with anything, their is better barbers then others. Next time you go in ask for Luis (who will always have a line because he has so many regulars) or either of the Mikes. You will leave very satisfied and look fresh with the new cut. read more

The negative reviews here are kinda funny. I've been taking my teenage twin boys here for 3 years, since we moved to AZ. The particular barber being dissed here has worked there since we've been coming every 6 weeks or so. That guy is nicest of them all and practically lives there. I don't think he cares at all if someone who usually sees him sees another barber if the place is packed or people are waiting for him. He ALWAYS has a line of people waiting for him specifically and I think he understands when people aren't willing to wait an hour for a haircut. The only thing remotely close to being a downside here is the older lady that doesn't speak very good language. If you get her it's very hard to communicate with her. Usually one of the barbers have to tell her in Spanish what is being said. She does good work though. I only came on here to check and see what time they opened today and stumbled upon the bad reviews so I had to speak up and post to save the reputation of a good person at the establishment. read more

I've been going here for over 3 years now. It took me so long to find a barber that cuts my hair just the way I like. I always get my hair cut by Luis, but I have gotten my hair cut by almost everyone else that works here as well. They all are great. I really like the fact now that Luis doesn't even have to ask me what I want anymore, I just sit down and he starts cutting. There are so many regulars here, I am sure I am not the only haircut they remember. I definitely recommend this place, it really seems like there's a good sense of community here. read more

First, I'd like to say that I've had my haircut by several of the barbers at this location and have been satisfied with my cut, however Luis is a master craftsman as my hair is difficult to cut (dare I say) perfectly. I will return here for my haircut needs as long as I live in the greater Phoenix area. read more

I've gotten my haircut here at least a dozen times . It was a place that I went too faithfully. I went in and normally got a cut from the guy who drives a black jeep, he the second chair from the right. And he cuts hair really well! But my issue is that one time I was in a hurry and he was busy so I got a cut from the lady in the closest to that window and ever since he had an attitude and wasn't friendly anymore! It made me feel uncomfortable and forced me to find another barber shop. I liked this place and it sucks that I had to find another shop! I don't recommend this place. I've given this place chance after chance to redeem itself. First time I went about 2 years ago and I liked it, especially for the convenience factor of the hours. However, the last three visits have been disappointment after disappointment compounded by unskilled barbers. I thought perhaps maybe they were better on certain days as barbers rotate... WRONG. I've visited both mid week, weekend AND Sunday. To be equally or more unsatisfied each time. I should say that my standard for a $17 haircut is above average but certainly not unreasonable. When I get a haircut I ALWAYS TIP having no problem handing over $20 or greater for the entire experience. Now to describe the reasons for my post. They are many so be prepared. I went on a Wednesday asked for my usual skin taper with a line up. Well did I ever get a lineup, it was pushed back 5 ft! And no where near straight. The rest of the cut was ok. I had to wait two weeks for my hair to grow back. And I still tipped. Now for today's post. Visited on a Sunday morning, gave my usual instructions for a skin taper with line up. 10 minutes later the barber hands me a mirror. I was mildly annoyed at this point as she didn't even attempt to line my hair up. I asked her to finish and when she was done she asked me "is it straight?" Ok now I'm VERY irritated. You're the barber professional do you not have an eye for the hair you are cutting? And finally to close today's experience, it is football Sunday. Myself and a few other clients were befuddled as to why we were forced to watch a water softener infomercial. Clients had to ask 3 times if they could change it to football. To which the older gentleman barber seemed not to want to be bothered while my female barber was applying 7th grade mathematics trying to figure out how to complete a straight edge up on my now guinea pig forehead. The only ray of sunlight was when a younger male barber entered the shop. He was the only one who seemed to have any sense of being a barber. Finally, I have given up on this wasteland that Barry, whoever that is... calls a barbershop. The two stars are given for the fact that they have clippers. That being said Barry's Barber Shop has been serving the area for over 10 years(I've been coming for 6) and there's a reason for that.... This is a "REAL" Barber Shop. The barbers are amazing at cutting hair and always provide great customer service! That being said I've waited way to long to write this review, I laughed when I read the negative comments and felt it was time. I know negativity is more interesting, but if you want a great cut this is the place. I look forward to many more years of visiting Barry's. read more
