This was sitting in my unfinished review bin. Sorry for the delay in posting. Last year, i went shopping for a GP closer to where i live. And I went to yelp, of course. And... yelp led me here. All fine and dandy. I'm in pretty good health, and have few medical needs. So, this would be a pretty simple patient/client relationship. After a few months with the good doctor, i came down with a pretty bad chest cold. This is one of the few things i need a physician for. The only thing i've found helpful is an Advair diskette. I'll use one for 30 days, and that will solve the problem. I've been doing this for about five or six years now. A simple, straightforward process. ======================= Edit smoking, scathing, call fire down from the sky review. Replace with a review following communication with Bart. Bart called. We spent ten minutes on the phone discussing how not to have what happened in my case, happen in someone else's case. Probably will never happen again. We are all human, and we all occasionally put our foot in something. What is uncommon, however, is that he took the time to pick up the phone, and call me to correct the situation, which he did to the best of his ability, or for that matter, to the best of anyone's ability. And that is uncommon. Most folks won't give a shit enough to bother. He gives a shit, and he's a capable physician. Giving a shit is what makes all the difference. On my side of the street, i've been watching up close and personal the body count from the opiate epidemic for the last few years, and this provoked a reaction where in effect, he was flogged for something he had nothing to do with. Dr. B is hands-down the best doctor I've ever gone to. He takes his time with his patients, and really cares for us. He doesn't rush through the appointments. He is a fantastic doctor and human. It's super easy to get an appointment too. Even for a physical it only takes maybe a week. But if you're sick, he can get you right in the same day. And if it's something else, just a day or 2. I am looking for another physician because I don't agree with Dr. Barrett's beliefs to applying physical therapy to joint pain or discomfort. On my last visit, I requested a referral to see a PT. During that visit he evaluated my issues which was knee pain and crunching as well as shoulder pain. He then told me that the knee crunching cannot be fixed and told me to feel his shoulder which had extreme crunching and grinding which he told me is normal for worn joints. He continued with telling me that I would have to live with the knee pain and crunching, and that PT would do no good, even though I have been seeing improvements from the sessions. So to make a long story short, he did not give me a referral. I feel he is not a believer in PT practice which I highly benefit from. I don't recommend him as a doctor, I think he would rather apply his own practices so he reaps the benefits. This visit was a waste of time and money. Thanks for nothing. Oh, and your shoulder sound horrible, I suggest you get that checked out. read more

I've practically grown up in this office, and I can honestly say that it is amazing. The atmosphere is so cheerful, and fun. Every single room has it's own theme which makes the experience here all the more enjoyable. The workflow is always efficient among the employees and they are so helpful! Alisa and Jessica are THE BEST nurses around! The way they work together and communicate with the patients makes you feel like you're taken care of as opposed to just being another patient walking through the door. Alisa is so nice and motherly, I swear it's as if she's a second mom to me! Brandi, the PA, is absolutely wonderful! I have been seen by her and by Dr. Barrett, and I can honestly say that I feel very comfortable around the both of them. Brandi always helps me find the best plan for whatever I am being seen for, and takes all the stress off of my shoulders in the process. And Doctor Barrett! Like I said, I've grown up around this office, and Dr. Barrett has always been more than helpful, generous, thoughtful and honest when it comes to not just my care, but the care of all of his patients. Quality is key in this office which is what makes it such an astounding place. Just about everyone in my family goes to Dr. B (my kids, who he delivered, my sister, my Mom, my brother in law, my nieces and nephew and myself). He is a very rare breed, truly amazing. My husband and I have been seeing this wonderful doctor for over 10 years, and I just can't say enough good about him. He is kind, educated, patient and efficient, and his staff is just as great! He has spoiled us for all other Drs. We drive quite the distance to see him and when we need him, he always has a spot for us. And he and his staff use Next Md, which makes access even easier. Dr Barrett is a life saver. My arm was hurting for several weeks due to overusing it while working on my computer and went into spasm after exercise one day. I had not slept for 1 full week and decided it was time to get help. I knew that if I went to an orthopedist, I would get expensive tests and scans which were not needed. I was unsure if my regular doctor was comfortable performing procedures and would likely refer me to an orthopedist. I knew that Dr. Barrett would not only be able to diagnose the condition, but would be able to treat it with as few visits as necessary. He is not only a great diagnostician, he is sensitive to costs for his patients. My arm pain was 99% gone by the next morning after receiving an injection in his office and has not reoccurred since. Thank you Yelp! This was my first visit to Dr. Barrett and I was impressed. He was right on time (which is VERY unusual in my other experiences with different doctors!) He addressed all of my concerns and I did not feel rushed. He was personable and very knowledgeable. He is even willing to work through his lunch and work late to make sure all of his patients that need to get in are seen. He seems to truly care about providing the best care for his patients. By the time I was ready to leave the office, all of my paperwork was ready and waiting for me. My prescription had already been sent electronically to my pharmacy. Also, I love his nurse! Didn't catch her name, but she is awesome too! The only negative I would say is they close from 12-230 from taking phone calls. Seems a like a really long time to be on lunch. It would make sense to me to take phone calls all day, I know almost every doctors office does this, but it drives me crazy because when I am at work the only time I have to call to make an appointment is my lunch time. He does have it set up that you can go on line to make an appointment but I wasn't set up on that til today. Dr. Barrett is amazing. He actually gets to know how patients and spends more than 5 minutes with you. He is very thorough with his evaluation and explains everything to you in terms you can understand. Dr. Barrett is the best. I love that he makes you feel comfortable and he tries to put you at ease everytime you come. I like that he also tries to get to know you on a personal level. I had an emergency on a Friday night that required some stitching and he came in after-hours to help me out with no hesitation. There are way better things he could've been doing on a Friday night instead of stitching up a doofus like me, but he did it because he cared. I really liked Dr. Barrett but I am sick of trying to resolve my accounting issue. I left my previous insurance at the end of the year and since January I have Kaiser. I called the office to let them know that I switched to Kaiser. I also called the billing department to let them know that I had received a bill for $120.00 for a digital fee. I can't believe that as of today, May 01St I am still receiving notices stating that I am 90-120 days late with my payment. I am not sure how much longer do I have to wait and if this is going to affect my credit rating that happens to be over and beyond avarage. I could not leave a message in the office since this is not an emergency. The office closes at 4PM. I didn't see an email address and I don't have a fax. I am beyond disappointed with the office staff. Thanks Dr. Barrett for contacting me about 5 minutes after I posted my comments. I appreciate all your efforts trying to resolve my problem. Finally brought the kids to see Dr. Barrett. They all love love love Dr. Barrett. He took time getting to know each one of them and gave them valuable life advice, not just a medical visit. My youngest has such a fear of needles that every time he needed a shot at his old doctor, I had to bring reinforcements to hold him down. Dr. Barrett has a unique way of dealing with him, and I didn't even lift a finger. No drama. No tears. And he left happy and relaxed. I thought it was a one time thing, but six months later when he came in for his follow up shot, we were done in about A MINUTE...and Dr. Barrett didn't even need to be there!! Dr. Barrett is AWESOME! He has been my doctor for about 3 years and was referred to me by another family member that also adores him. When I got pregnant there was no question in my mind who I wanted to care for my son's health needs. Dr, Barrett was excited to honor my request and has been a personable, lovable and humble doctor to the both of us. My son (now 11 months) adores him and loves giving him hugs and kisses. The Integrity of Dr. Barrett is unmatched in today's Healthcare System. I am a Registered Nurse, I have been going to him for over 15 years long before I became a Nurse. He has always recommended the right plan of care even in the face of adversity. He does not hesitate to push back against anyone (including me) recommending the wrong plan of care. I definitely do not always like what he says or does but, that just means he is doing his Job . I trust this Man with my life and if you can not trust your current Primary Care Doctor with your life you might want to switch. I would like to share two instances I had with Dr, Barrett. I was working the night shift in the ER and looked down the hallway and had seen Dr. Barrett on 2 separate occasions coming into the ER to see one of his Patients. I hardly ever have to deal with Primary Care Doctors face to face in the ER and when I do, it is usually because the patient is famous or very wealthy! I can say that there was no one famous or very wealthy in the ER when I saw Dr, Barrett there.These 3am visits are something that goes undiscovered by everyone except that patient and Dr. Barrett until now. Dr. Barrett is the Real Deal his actions are impressive yet he does not boast or brag about going above and beyond the call of duty. He obviously has a nodding acquaintance with Humility. I just happened to witness it more than once and thought I would Boast and Brag for him. It is a great feeling when you see your Primary Care Doctor coming into the ER to see his not famous and not wealthy Patients. Oh and one more thing there was a time I had no insurance and had hit a "financial rough patch" on the road of life and needed to see a Doctor and get Prescription refills. I sent a long e-mail to Dr. Barrett trying to figure out a way I could come in to see him, he simply replied "why don't i just see you for free?" Less than one. I was not going to write this but every one said that I should. It goes back about 3 years. Once a year at Huntington Beach there is wellness for seniors. At the event my Caritio Arterie was checked. They said that there was some build in the left side. I told Dr Barrett. He did not think they should be checking that. A year later I told the PA Again the same. Than one day walking I lost the vision in my left eye for about one minute . Two week later the same thing happened. I went to the eye Dr. He sent me to get a Ultrosound. I was than sent to emergancy. I had 80% blockage in my left Carotio Arteri.Thus I had to have surgery. Hope things like this does not happen to others. read more

Dr. Barrett and PA, Brandy Walton take their time to talk to their patients in an understandable and down to earth manner. They genuinely care about the patient experience and in continuous improvement to maintain an excellent practice in an ever changing insurance healthcare environment. He values his patients and their time so much that he gives a Starbucks gift card for Pete's sake if a patient has to wait more than 30 minutes past the appointment time! I've changed insurance plans in the past several years and will likely in the future. The most important thing to me is whether I can continue to see Dr. Barrett.
