The best BART station I've visited. I used to take BART to commute to work years ago. This was our first time to the Orinda station. We used the GPS to get here to the North parking lot and ended up parking in the overflow lot with a select amount of other people so we weren't alone. We were unaware it was the overflow lot till we walked to the BART station taking the little path and saw closer parking spaces. Oh well we were already parked and the walk wasn't that far. There is a parking FEE from 4am-3pm Monday - Friday. You need to remember your stall number so you can pay for your parking spot inside the station. When we arrived at the station we didn't see the pay station so we asked the station manager and she informed us it was free. If you need to pay you have to pay your fair and inside the station is the machines to pay your parking. It's only $3.40 a day. Not bad if you're comparing it to street metered parking or a parking garage. Still I'm not used to paying for parking at a BART Station. When we arrived at the BART station we looked at the machines and didn't see a way to put money on our BART tickets so we went to the station manage and asked how we do this. She informed us that they no longer use the old school paper tickets and now the new form of payment is a clipper card or a credit card. She said we could mail in our tickets and we'll get a check for the remaining balance. We asked where we ship them to and she said we can do it in station. We then asked if we can do it in this station and she said no she was out of the forms, then she looked and it turns out she still had a booklet of the forms so we were able to turn them tickets into her. She filled out a form for us. We signed our name to the bottom of the form after showing her our ID and she said it should only take 2 weeks and if we don't get the check in the mail by then to call them. Good thing we arrived early. We were able to enter the BART station by using our credit card. It worked like a charm. You just use a credit card to enter and the same one to exist and it automatically charges your card. It costed us $5.95 to travel from the Orinda BART Station to the Montgomery Station. That is the cost each way using a credit card. If you purchase a plastic Clipper card there is a $3 charge. If you load the Clipper app to your phone there is no charge to use your Clipper App. I'm not sure of the advantage of using the Clipper card versus using a credit card. Bathroom. They actually have 2 unisex bathrooms that have that great red and green tab on the door so you know if it's occupied or not. They don't have roll toilet paper, but the old school little square sheets that dispense like hand towels do. We were shocked in a good way at how clean and fresh smelling the bathrooms are. And I was just shocked that they have bathrooms that we were allowed to use. My husband was shocked that you didn't have to get an agent to open it for you. So overall we were thrilled beyond belief about the bathroom situation. We used it before and after the trip and it was just as clean if not cleaner at the end of the day. Safety. The station seems safe. There was no one loitering around the station. No homeless people camped out, ect. The station and the parking lot were relatively clean. There was a six pack of used or half used Corona in the parking lot next to a tree, but other than that it was pretty clean. Our car was safe. No damage happened to our car. There is always a fear that your car may be vandalized while you are gone or it 's broken into and all your stuff is stolen. It's happened before to my Husband and his friends at another Bart Station and that's why we didn't park at that station. read more

Orinda BART station is a good spot to park and ride the train into SF. It is located right off of highway 24. Literally. When slowing down for the exit, slow your ride through the curving exit ramp because the BART entrance is easy to miss. You approach the entrance before you finish the exit ramp curve. Likewise, be careful when exiting the parking lot as someone could be exiting the freeway a bit quickly. It's also equally easy to get back onto 24 going eastbound. The parking lot has always had a close space for me when I've gone on the weekends and weekdays after 4:00. Daily parking fee is currently $3 between 4:00a and 3:00p weekdays only (https://www.bart.gov/guide/parking). Round trip is currently $10.30 to Embarcadero, Montgomery, and Powell SF stations. Machines take credit/debit cards and cash (bills/coins - but no pennies). Everyone must have their own ticket. The entire station is generally clean. Only a minute trace of transient littering, no graffiti, just pleasant. Likely a reflection of the town of Orinda. According to Forbes data selected off of Nextdoor, Orinda is the second highest rated little city in America. Historically some Giants players have lived here, too. Just a neat location that's convenient for this Sacramento resident to drive to when heading into SF. read more

When I found out that my best friend from Detroit, Mich. was planning to take her vacation in San Francisco, I had my boyfriend Joe K. formulate a plan that would allow me to see her on my Sunday off from work. While San Francisco has many high points, there are some low points that have often discouraged me from wanting to visit that city as often as I used to! Namely, the congested traffic, the over abundance of pedestrians, and the difficult parking situation! That's when Joe came up with the great idea to drive to a city close to SF that offers a BART Station. That city of choice turned out to be Orinda. Many people may not have even heard of this nice, upscale little town, but I have always remembered the name of this city from my younger years, because my grandparents had close friends who lived there. Their names were Orwena and Orance, and they lived in Orinda! LOL! When we arrived early in the morning on a Sunday, the parking lot had plenty of spaces to choose from. But from reading other reviews about this station, apparently it can get pretty congested during the weekdays. Fortunately for us, it was a great day of not having to deal with crowds of people or waiting long for the train to arrive. There are automated machines set up for you to purchase your tickets that take cash or debit cards. We bought an all day pass that was only $8.40 per person. Entrance stalls take your ticket as you slip it into the slot. It reads the pass and opens the stall gates for you to proceed into the station. Your ticket comes out of another slot for you to retrieve as you pass through. Bathrooms are available which we took advantage of. Then we walked up the stairs to wait for the trains. I noticed that parts of the station were under construction to upgrade their earth quake safety conditions. But, they still managed to keep things looking clean, organized and running smoothly. This was my first experience on BART, and even though my sister and I were a little nervous due to the speed and loud, scary noises we kept hearing during the 20 minute ride into the city, I managed to maintain my composure and make jokes to pass the time. Brought back memories of an old 1976 action, comedy movie that cracked us up back in the day: "Silver Streak". Eventually we arrived at our destination safe and sound, and it was even kind of fun! This was the beginning of an exciting day and long over due reunion with my dear childhood friend Debbie Z., who by the way, is also a Yelper! firstly i'd like to mention that i've been going to this bart station for a while now. the station itself is perfectly fine and i'd recommend it to anyone commuting on bart. its got lots of parking and it's very clean. i'm only leaving a bad review based on a recent experience i had with an employee there. i was having issues with my card and upon arriving in orinda it wouldn't let me pass through. when i went up to the agent he just shoved his scanning device (not sure what it's called) and told me to scan. i put my phone face down and he immediately snatched his device away, looking very angry and offended. i was so confused as to what i did wrong, but he then said in a very irritated tone that i need to put my phone down the other way. i didn't think it was a big deal because i had been using my phone face down to scan my clipper multiple times and it works just fine. so i did that and it showed that my clipper didn't register at my last location. to make a very long story short he was very aggressive and rude, accusing me of things and telling me how im supposed to be doing my job correctly as a customer, and how it's not his responsibility to help with these types of situations. (i understand i should have figured out the issue with my card and that's my responsibility) but for him to be so hostile towards me made the whole interaction pretty upsetting. i know it's not my place to say this but to be honest it is kind of his job to help right? at the very least sharing some advice on the issue would have been better, if clearly my clipper is having problems. but he was just, so incredibly bitter and aggressive, i was genuinely shocked. he never gave me a chance to explain anything, at all. every time i tried to say something he cut me off. i'm just sharing this review in hopes someone at orinda bart will see it and share it with their staff. maybe that's futile, but then fair warning to anyone needing to see a certain older male agent there. read more

Out of all the BART stations, I like this one the best. When I need to get into SF downtown, BART is the only way to go and not deal with the huge traffic on the Bay Bridge. I drive in from Sac and park here. Parking is not too bad on the weekends and it's safe here, not like parking in Oakland, though closer to SF. The station is clean and not littered or pissed on by people like the urban stations. I'll drive here and then take the train for here to SF. I've had a driver pick me up here too, and that's no hassles, like some of the other stations. read more

Overall it's a clean station. No pan handlers and no musicians. Nice trees in front of it makes you feel like you're in the mountains. Not to busy and it feels safe not like other stations where you have to hold on to your personal belongings very tight. read more

This is probably my favorite BART station in terms of safety. I have never feared for myself or my car while parking here, though I would not be able to say the same about El Cerrito's or Richmond's. Conveniently, it's the last stop before the Highway 24 Caldecott traffic, and it usually isn't stopped BEFORE you get to this highway exit. It's easy to miss coming from either direction -- if you're under an overpass, you probably should be entering the parking lot (look to your right for the tiny BART signs). If you've gone completely underneath the overpasses, you probably missed the entrance. If coming on a weekday, be sure to note your parking space, and pay for the stall. The ticket machine is INSIDE the gates. (So, if you're outside the gates, just add an extra dollar to the fare that you're purchasing. You can use the same ticket to pay the $1 parking fee inside the gates.) Also, it's an open air platform that is subject to brisk winds, so you may need to wear a windbreaker if waiting long up there. Otherwise, I've only used the elevator once. Took a second and required an attendant, but it worked just fine. read more

I jump on and off here occasionally, when visiting P&P (and if I'm lucky, a little stop at Casa Orinda!) So I haven't parked here, but the lot seems to be realllly long and with a lot of "made up" spaces where, maybe 5 years ago, there were No Parking signs. The Passenger Pick Up Area seems to be civil enough. I've never dealt with staff here (do they rotate? Or are they assigned one station for ever and ever?!) I feel safe here at night. Where I don't feel safe is the little walkway crossing the freeway from Orinda Proper to the Station. Walking that stretch (ok, it's short) tonight around 7.45p, I found myself in a dark, dark place, hearing roars of SUV engines above and below... only half knowing the forms coming toward me were actually people quite innocently enough walking home from Bart. That walkway is daaaark. If you're getting on the train here to the City during morning commute, forget about getting a seat - all of us from The Wrong Side of Four got 'em first! I love to see the Orindian's scowl at having to stand (ok, now I'm just being mean.) read more

A good BART station in a small town. There is very little to do in Orinda, so if you live here you are pretty thankful that BART allows for a form of escape! It's a safe station and there is a lot of parking. Though on weekday mornings you may find no spaces. I took the California Bar in Oakland and took BART there every morning. On the last day the lot was totally full and I had to park in town and then sprint over to catch my train. So if you ever are in need to get somewhere early, I might extra time for finding parking. read more

I only knew something was up because the car sounded funky. Bart police came but of course it didn't really help because they don't have cameras in their lots!? What a great place, Orinda is the coolest little town I've been to in a long time. The station is cool because id attend it after a long days work, it takes me home so I love it. It holds a place in my heart, it also doesn't have all the crazies lingering around that my home destination along with Powell, Civic, Montgomery all have. This is a wonderful BART station. Very clean and convenient location. However, it's hard to find a free parking space in the morning and also hard to secure a paid parking space. There is Orinda taxi which is convenient, just in case you need it. And very safe place to park. read more

The most boring station in the whole network. And that's probably a good thing - it's clean, isn't confusing, and has no character. Besides, you probably aren't in a hurry to get to Orinda unless you live there (it's OK, I spent 3 years working in Lafayette). This is the BART station I've used the most when I visit Nor Cal because it is near my sister's house. This station offers a huge parking lot for BART users and the employees here are really helpful in pointing out where to go. The station also has a drop off/pick up zone that is easy to use and not feel rushed. It is also one of the cleaner BART stations I've seen. read more

Absolutely standard BART station. Parking, but none covered I don't think. Can walk to downtown Orinda, which isn't intended to be a backhanded compliment even though it sounds that way. Other than that, nothing to make it stand out as superb but no reason to really knock it, either. read more

I take Bart when I go to the club with my friends on the weekend in SF. Bart is pretty nice, I never had an issue. It is a good way to save some money too, I just wish that they were open until 2:00AM or so, so that we dont have to rush home. Jason read more
