While not as extensive as someplace like Adorama or B&H, Kenmore Camera still has good selection and will usually have what I'm looking for. I'm also pleased with the value provided, especially because they will price match some of those bigger shops, allowing me to consider spending my limited budget here, rather than sending it out of state. I even learned last year about their classes, which I've happily been taking advantage of over the last, six months. The only reason I've deducted a star (and I'd rather have only deducted a half a star), is that some of the staff are a little too focused on their commission. As someone who has worked retail for twenty years I get it. If that's the earnings structure at your job then you do what you have to do, but one gentleman in particular made me feel like I had wronged him, personally, when I spoke with a different associate when I came back in to make a purchase I had been considering. Yes, he was the random person who ended up answering my questions on my first visit, but that doesn't mean I feel like I had some kind of contract with him as a result. We toyed with doing it ourselves, but after pricing photo scanners and doing a few trials with some apps, we decided to outsource the work. We wanted to find someone local because shipping a lifetime full of curated memories to who knows where for several weeks made me nervous. While those places do cost less, the reviews go from mixed to worse. Also, since I painstakingly took the time to keep my photos organized over the years, I didn't want them all dumped into one pile prior to scanning, which is often the case with the cheap online providers. And, lastly, I wanted our photos scanned in high resolution. The Picture Org(anizer) not only met all my requirements, but John and team exceeded all expectations. My scanned photos look fantastic!! I am so pleased. And the USB drive that he put them on was neatly organized into my desired subfolders. I couldn't be happier.

Developing cost $15 per roll, which is average for film development (but this includes getting your negatives back- if you really don't need them, you get a cheaper price). I was excited to have a camera repair shop in my backyard, which is why I chose Glazier's in the…read morefirst place. I recently had my Nikon freeze up (the film advance jammed) and I figured this would be a great time to try them out. Despite being 15 miles away, I still decided to ship my camera to them. (I am not fond of driving into Seattle). They eventually got back to me with an estimate for "a full overhaul of the shutter, meter and film transport. All functions would be set to factory specifications and the light seals will be replaced. This would be a full clean, lube and adjust. Well - First off, I never sent the light meter. So there is no way they could touch "the meter." This was also, clearly, a generic form - probably not sent by the actual technician who will be working on my camera. Despite those warning signals, I approved the repair(s). When I received the camera it did have new light seals, and the film advance was no longer jammed. HOWEVER: The film advance squeaked - and felt rough. At this point I am no longer thinking this was a "full overhaul" of anything. I'm thinking they just un-jammed the camera and sent it back to me. They over-sold the process. *** Now I am driving into Seattle to return the camera so it may be properly OVERHAULED. At the store, customer service was 50/50. Clerk 1 was monotone with no eye contact, staring at the computer screen. Clerk 2 was quick to see the situation, and jumped in to assist me with my return. Another week later I get a call from an actual tech. He was bewildered as to why I returned the repair. I told him it was a rough film advance, and it squeaked. He told me it's an old Nikon (1960s) and it isn't going to work like new. I argued that an overhauled, cleaned, lubed, and adjusted film transport shouldn't squeak - and should be smooth when advancing the film. He reiterated that it was old and he's been doing this for years. Myself? I have owned a few thousand vintage cameras. Take what you want with those qualifications - But where I come from, I know what an actual Over-Haul is. And that is NOT what I received. Overall, they oversold the over-haul, and the repair department is disconnected from customer service. I will absolutely not be returning here for repair work.

I was informed by email three different dates that is was shipped. Each time it had not shipped. I wanted it for a road trip up North but that will not happen. Keep in mind two things, one its NOT a custom order. two, nowhere on the website does it say shipping out will take this long. Not to mention that being perhaps the most expensive tripod on the market they still charge a shipping fee. I've asked more then once to just cancel my order and each time I'm told its shipping. Considering its still in the factory and will take 6-8 days more to arrive you would think Ries would offer a discount on expedited shipping but that is not the case. There website should have been a warning to me that perhaps something is wrong. Site was unusable to place an order. Not sure if this is a company or a side job. Obviously, being the only wood tripod manufactory in America there is a lack of competitors and they treat the customer accordingly.
