Andrew Gualtieri and Francesco Uscanga, part of Rich Sala's Guilford team, did an excellent job tending to and pruning our Honey Locust tree and Vanderwolf Pines. In particular, they paid special attention to our prized Weeping Willow, which had sustained severe storm damage. They skillfully removed the remains of a large branch that had torn off and pinned several branches on our black maple and choke cherry, restoring each tree to its pre-storm condition. They were skilled, careful, friendly, courteous, and efficient, and showed great teamwork. We just had Bartlett Tree service of Essex, Ct remove five very large oak trees from our property in Deep River. I called the office and got a return call from Dan right away. He came out within a couple of days and gave me a price proposal. They started the job within a week and did a fantastic job. My home is nicely landscaped and although they needed a large bucket truck and a 90 foot crane to complete the job, they were very carefull of the lawn, shrubs, plantings and the driveway. The job was difficult to say the least but was completed in two days. Every bit of debris was picked up and removed each day and they left the grounds spotless. They all worked very hard all day but were also very safety conscious. They also ground down the stumps and removed the sawdust. In summary I do not think that you could find a more professional courteous service and also at a good price.... read more

Not exactly cheap but reasonable. Very professional. They are also very fair in that they do not try to talk you into doing things that are not really necessary. I dealt with Bartlett in New Jersey. They can provide you with a formal typed proposal, good equipment and manpower - just be prepared to pay for it. They are fine if you are well to do or just need one or two trees cut. In our case they were dealing with acreage and at a certain point we had to switch to a local firm that was much more reasonable. read more

Do Not Use This Company! I have 20 evergreen trees, two of which were exfoliating and the others were perfect. Three months ago, in the middle of March, 2011, the arborist examined all twenty trees and only took a soil sample, although a root sample should also have been taken. The diagnosis of near toxic levels of salt in the soil came back 4 weeks later and the treatment recommended was to water the trees everyday. Three months later 15 of my 20 trees are dying. The arborist returned two weeks ago and only then did he take a root sample, and a few days later I received a diagnosis of the fungal disease phytophthora- root rot. The company says this was due to the toxic levels of salt- but only ten of the trees are near the road - five of my dying trees are on the other side of my property far away from the road and they too are dying. This company is the worst- please stay away from them. If I had gone to another company, perhaps my trees would be alive today. read more

I stopped in to the local Essex office to set up an appt. for someone to visit our house for a quote. The man there, Dan, said he could come by right away that day and did. We reviewed all we needed done (one portion he could not handle) and said he'd get back to us with a quote. Three weeks later - no quote. I stopped by the office again and the Admin at the front desk says she'll tell Dan we are looking for our quote. Six days later - still no quote and no contact with them. I have no idea what kind of work they do but their lack of professionalism and communication is a bad sign. If can't do the job or not interested in the job, please at least have the courtesy to say so. read more
