The other day I had a dream where I ate a donair and when I woke up I knew I'd need to get a donair for lunch. In Leduc, there are a few spots to grab a donair, but Basha's is my favourite. I've gone to the Basha's closer to Nisku (by the truck stop on Sparrow Crescent), but the one in town I hadn't been to this one in quite some time. Actually, I haven't been here since they moved to this location, so it was time to fix that. With Covid there are only a few tables available to sit at (if you want to dine in; I was taking my donair to go). Face masks are required (obviously) and there are decals on the floor to keep people 2 metres apart. There was one man ahead of me, and one customer eating in. There were two staff members behind the counter (one taking orders/payment and the other making the donair). I got the Basha big bite donair and it was really good. The only thing I can say is it's super messy, but what donair isn't? You'll probably need extra napkins. But for $11 plus tax this donair is filling and delicious. The big bite is my go-to if I'm at Basha's, although I often look at the menu and debate getting something else their big bite (basically a large donair) is one that never fails. I'm a sweet sauce kind of person but they got garlic sauce, bbq sauce, tzatziki, and bbq sauce. And there are lots of topping options like lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, onions, olives, pickled turnips, pickles, and cheese. Basha's has other dishes besides donairs like burgers, shwarmas, falafel, and various sides (including a variety of poutines). Maybe I'll get something different next time. read more

I was craving a donair again but this time I heard about this place in Leduc called BASHA. Seeing as I work closeby I thought i would give it a shot. When I first walked in, the line up was 5 deep ( Being in Leduc there is no mask needed , nor 6 feet separation.. felt a bit weird but also back to being human ! ) . Looking at the menu board they have a wide variety to choose from... platters, kabobs, donairs and plenty of side dishes. There are regular donairs and specialty ones.. I saw one called the Sasquatch and was really intrigued ( More on that later ). Seeing 7 staff members in the kitchen prepping, slicing and frying up food showed me how busy this place is.. and it's not even a weekday ! So I imagine they are very well known. i ordered the Big Bite donair.. and looking at the photo, it is a big donair but the guy in front of me order the Sasquatch and seeing that was like seeing an elephant up close... this sandwich was MASSIVE ! So big even wrapping it up with the toppings takes an effort. WOW .. it feeds how many? I was told that if someone can eat this in 5 minutes or less , the next one is free .. ambulance you pay for yourself ! My donair was amazing... not dry, not overly fried to death.. perfect ! And even filling . I love a good donair and I have had my fair share of eating them but this place deserves a top spot. Definite worthy of a return. Prices are very reasonable too. My sandwich was $11. The behemoth sandwich was $15.50 Located in Leduc it is a bit tricky to find .. but it is in a strip mall just north of St. Peter's Lutheran Church . They also have 3 locations in Edmonton, 2 in Leduc and one in Kelowna BC. Basha Donair & Shawarma is located at the north east corner in a strip mall on 50 St and 51 Ave. I've been to the other Basha in Leduc on Sparrow which is in the north sector close to the airport hotels. That place is a lot smaller than this location. This location has the look of having taken 2 stores and breaking a wall down to make it one big place. There's a menu on the wall and a line for the cash and then pickup. It's sort of like Subway but in reverse. You pay first then go through the pick up line where you ask for what you'd like to be added to your order. These Donairs seem to be of the "Canadian" variety because they have that sweet sauce. I ordered what seemingly was the largest donair they had to offer deemed "The Sasquatch". Sasquatch of course is that mythical creature kind of like Bigfoot. Well this thing was packed, packed with meat and the veggies and sauce were just to compliment because really this wrap is all about the meat. This thing had so much meat but I knew what I was in for. I added onions, parsley, tomatoes, as well as garlic sauce (yum) and just a little drizzle of the sweet sauce. I don't like too much of that stuff but a squirt is ok. Since I was taking this to go it was wrapped a bit differently. They wrap it and then they wrap it again and then they put the whole thing into a plastic pocket. This basically ensures it won't leak especially for those that have extra sweet sauce because that stuff is more runny than say the garlic sauce. This thing weighed a good 2 pounds. It was heavy and it was packed. It had a circumference of maybe 4 inches at it's widest point but it was really very good and very filling. I was having trouble finishing it towards the end but I was able to finish it. I imagine there's more people out there that couldn't finish it than those that could. It's really a generous portion of food and besides just quantity it's also quite delicious as well. read more

Pretty damn good! On my way home from the West side tonight, I was looking for somewhere in the middle to try out. A friend recomended Basha. Donair...sure! Unasumming little place off Saddleback Road. 1st thing I noticed upon entering was how clean and well kept everything was. Signage all over promoting their products were of good quality. Kitchen clean and everything very presentable. Decided on a regular cheese donair and a bottleof water. ~$11. Really good. Fresh. Juicy. Lots of meat. Sweet sauce was quite good. Only "problem" was that there could have been a little more sauce. Staff were very friendly and upbeat. Even offered up a sample Baklava while I waited. Napkin dispensers on tables (good plan in a donair shop!) and there were even comment cards on every table. Really impressed. If I was in the area, I could see this quickly becoming a go-to spot! read more

My hubby and I picked up some dinner this evening. The service was great. I didn't really know what to get so I just said chicken skewers with Greek salad etc. Well the lady there made it happen. I think it was the Shish Tawouk. It was so tasty and very filling. My hubby had the Basha Chef Style donair and he really enjoyed it. Also the staff are very aware of changing their gloves between handling money/cash register and food. Fresh gloves before they handled my food which is so important. Did you ever wish you can go to one of those restraunts on the food show where the owners care about giving their customers great food at a good price? Here you go. The donairs i have get 2 types of meat. I assume beef and lamb. Normally id be shy to eat lamb but i get over it when it tastes this good. These donairs have slightly more fat? Then others ive eaten... juicyness? Whatever it is its delicious. But theres more than donairs here... for 5.55 my wife loves the grill cheese seved with very tasty fries. The chicken fingers for 750 have become her favorite chicken dinner from any fast food chain. And did i say fast? These guys never make me wait more than 10 mins to get my food. They can be slammed with 5-6 people in lineup but its an efficent kitchen and spotless clean. the worker that works there is very rude, shes filipino and when my friends walked in she talked in her language and they understood it she was talking shit. she should lose her job. that was very unacceptable and to say "nandito na naman ang mga patay gutom" which means "here comes the people that are food hungry" in our language, that's very rude to say. i'm just hoping she gets what she deserves. read more

It's hard to say what my favorite menu item here as they are a delicious! Vegetarian falafel wraps, donairs with sweet sauce, Greek salad and donair poutine are some of my faves. New menu items include souvlaki and a big bite which is a donair poutine wrapped in a pita! There is something for everyone here including kids. The service staff was friendly (they even remembered that our other family member frequently goes there too). I am so glad Basha Donair is close to home. The donairs are usually done to perfection, but be careful if they are really busy, sometimes they mix things up a bit or forget to create their beautiful donairs in the correct order. The service was so bad, the lady has so much attitude and the place does not know what they are selling. according to them chicken tawook and chicken shawarma is the same thing. we ordered chicken tawook and we got shawarma, she said the diference is that shawarma is shopped up in smaller pieces!!!! Didn't have cell phone coverage because my American cell phone carrier doesn't offer coverage in the Leduc area...so I asked the staff at this establishment for the current exchange rate for the US dollar vs CAD and was charged $22 us dollars for a sandwich and soft drink...... The next day I had the opportunity to look up the exchange rate after I left the area and had better cellphone reception... and I was astonished to discover that I paid twice the amount for a sandwich and soft drink that should have cost me less then $12 US dollars Tax cheats( with their mostly cash business)...thieves... and rip off artist should not be allowed to do business in such a beautiful city! We tried Basha for the first time yesterday, and I gotta say I have a new addiction! It was delicious. In my teen years I worked in a donair shop, so I'd like to think my standards are somewhat high. Lol. Basha surpassed all expectations. My husband and I got donairs, mozza sticks, and deep fried pickles. Loved there deep fried pickles, but I am pregnant so I could be biased... Wasn't the biggest fan of the mozza sticks, but to be fair we didn't eat them until a little later on. Their protons are huge! I couldn't finish their Big Basha, and waited until later to eat a couple of the pickles. Good price for what you get! We'll be back for sure! read more

Located on a busy rd in Leduc, but easy to find. Staff was super friendly on both occasions I visited while in the area. I ordered the regular size chicken & beef combo shawarma wrap- DELICIOUS. Huge portion, great taste, toppings of choice. The pickles are great. Eat it in the restaurant or at work! Don't attempt it in the car, gets a bit messy and drippy. But that's the fun of it, just not on the shirt! Lol. There is a typical kids menu with large portions. Love the old fashion black cherry soda.
