We'd really like to reward this lovely home/shop with something more positive because they have some attractive and interesting handcraft items for sale. Here's why we can't. We arrived in Pugwash on a Sunday morning on a shopping and sightseeing trip around north shore area and were drawn to a pretty home set back from the road in a setting of dense green foliage. We went inside and admired and planned to purchase a handful of items (jewelry, a dog collar, souvenir) when one of our party needed a bathroom. We asked the two young women behind a counter if they had a public bathroom and were told they had nothing that customers were permitted to use and that we would have to drive several miles away. This wasn't an option and we explained that. Same reply. We dropped our selected purchases and abruptly left. We were angry, and in reviewing our visit at first decided to give them one star, and maybe we should have. We believe that kind of behavior to be quite unacceptable. (We finally located a porta-potty behind the closed library several miles away.) But we like the products for sale and the store's use of local artisans. So two it is..... read more
