She will be moving on to a gifted school for first grade, but if she had not been accepted into Knox Gifted Academy, I would have happily kept her at Dobson. Her teacher, Mrs. Ambrose, was truly a gem. One of those teachers where you can clearly see how much she loves what she does and how much she cares for her students. Her assistant teacher, Mrs. Padilla, was also amazing! Very involved and always proactive in coming to me with updates or concerns about my daughter, Vivienne. Every morning when you walked into the school, you were greeted with smiles and uplifting music that set a positive tone for the day. It felt like a community where everyone knew your name and genuinely cared. The principal is also very present and involved, which really shows in the school's culture and environment. We will miss this school and are very grateful for the wonderful experience we had there

The staff is beyond lazy they cannot deal with difficult children in any manner. So what my 10 year old doesn't get a chance to prove himself?? Math and ElA curriculum hasn't changed over decades which they consider a strength ( may be it is in ELA but not in math) but kids excelling in math at nvce struggle anywhere and everywhere.Text books are so old that even school has had time stocking them.One of the reasons curriculum doesn't change is because teachers esp in advanced grades know how to teach that book but not necessarily that topic so they simply stick with those old books for comfort level of teachers. Teacher's qualification is not disclosed on website .Many of them probably don't hold any degree in what they are reaching.Bejng a private school, teachers don't have to comply with ongoing education/training .School doesn't participate in AZ standardized tests Infact has its own metrics/standardized tests so you are unable to really see where it stands compared to rest of the school. School really focuses on grouping based on kids levels which creates an unhealthy competition among class and parents.A lot of teacher tutor right after school dismisses and students taught by the teachers during those sessions, are then able to advance into higher groups so basically you spend more money after paying the monthly tuition.This is a very very common trend. School participates in national history day which is good but problem is the teacher who runs that is very biased.Years ago when her own child was participated in these competitions ( from middle school to high school), he would win awards in almost all categories.People felt nepotism at its very best. You pay for almost all the clubs and extracurriculars.Schools playground is too small.My child dreaded music and foreign language.Kids only do singing on music and no instruments at taught all.kids only learn numbers in Spanish pretty much the entire time.

She loves her teacher Mr. Wilson who she had in 3rd grade and now in 6th grade and couldn't be happier. She often tells me stories about how kind the principal, teachers, and staff are to her. PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN FROM BULLYING…read more I will never recommend Pomeroy as long as Ms. Fields is principal. 4 months my son was being targeted. She doesn't care for children being BULLIED. She showed no empathy towards my child being physically assaulted by another child and assumes taking "a day of recess" away will help better the problem. My son was constantly being pushed around by a classmate and being called names to where his mental health was being affected. A SIX YEAR OLD HAVING CONFIDENCE INSSUES BECAUSE TEACHERS HERE WON'T PROTECT CHILDREN. DISGUSTING. He no longer trust any type of teacher anymore because they couldn't help him. Let me also add a TEACHER putting their hands on my 6 year old son. But let's also add how she never got back to me with the "video" because I pulled my son out of Pomeroy and filed a police report.

We also just added a great new library with over 5000 books that students visit at least once a week! Great winter and spring performances and all of the extra-curricular activities offered after school are wonderful. The staff is very easy to talk to and takes action quickly when needed. What a great little school!
