They had enough parking space but I just park just outside and it was a breeze walking into the venue. Very good stff maintaining the queue and traffic. Tips to improve: 1. Form a file while entring the hall because people were scrambling all over to enter 2. Provide right instruction to queue outside restrooms 3. The last three rows are literally just free wooden chairs, esp the last one being a high-chair. Wish they were comfortable cushioned seats too. read more

There seem to be more food and beverage options now, but the most fascinating addition was the snack bar technology. You simply place your items on the counter, and the system automatically recognizes everything you selected...no scanning required. Your items and prices instantly appear on the screen, and you check out from there. It felt a little futuristic in the best possible way. Now for The Wiz itself... from the very first scene, the production burst onto the stage with color, rhythm and energy. The costumes were intricate, bold, and beautifully designed, immediately signaling that this was not a traditional retelling but a fresh, re-envisioned production. While the core storyline remains familiar, it was told with modern twists deeply rooted in Black culture, music, and storytelling. The cast was phenomenal. Every vocalist brought incredible power and range, and quite honestly, it felt like Broadway-level talent across the entire ensemble. The visual production was equally captivating. The set design transformed constantly through changing colors, animated projections, and moving stage pieces that kept the audience fully immersed from beginning to end. Love the wide variety of performances showing at the Bass Concert Hall every year through Texas Performing Arts. I have seen several live performances at this theater, including FOOD by Geoff Sobelle and a few Broadway in Austin shows -- Six, Wicked, The Book of Mormon, and Moulin Rouge. Tickets on the balcony levels can be affordable, although the upper balcony is pretty high which can make performances difficult to see. However, all of the shows I've seen have been quite loud even at the top. There are a couple of concession stands on each level offering drinks and snacks, and you can even purchase a performance-themed buffet at some shows. A good number of restrooms on each floor too. As of this review you do not need a clear bag, although they do inspect all bags. There are several nearby UT parking garages and surface lots with paid parking. Pro tip- add your event tickets to your phone wallet before any events for quick entry, and don't forget to check out the outdoor balcony for a great view of campus. read more

Bass has such a great selection of shows each season, I highly recommend going to see one or looking into becoming a season ticket holder if you get the chance. This can help keep your ticket costs down a bit if you like to see them all. Since it is on the UT Campus, getting in and out can be a bit annoying, so going on foot, by bike or bus, or by Uber/Lyft is always easiest if possible. WEIRD AL! We came to see Weird Al's Bigger and Weirder Tour with opener Puddles Pity Party. We have been to the Bass Concert Hall a handful of times for various things. I first want to say, having been to similar venues in other cities they easily have the best volunteers and staff. Friendly, Helpful, and fun. I am reminded how good they are when we go elsewhere. So the place was packed, I love seeing that, I know Weird Al is huge with a large fan base but growing up I was one of the few that liked him and my friend and parents just never understood so I sometimes find it hard to remember he is HUGE and popular to tons and tons of people. They had one merch area and we got there right as the doors opened for non VP members, the line was long but not what it would be even 30 minutes later where it wrapped around the whole floor! We each got a T-Shirt, a tote bag, some pins, and stickers. The merch team was super friendly and fast. Kudos to them. There is lots of seating while waiting and the bars are all open. They had two themed drinks with Word Crimes and This song is just six words long. Both based on Weird Al songs so we tried them both and like them. Like most venues the prices are high but if you have been to any shows here or anything like this venue you won't be surprised. The seats are fine, the place is nice, it has several levels with elevators on both sides of each floor, there are several bars on each floor and the view is pretty good from just about anywhere. Weirdly the intermission is between Puddles opener and Weird Al but there is no sign or anything to let us know that is the intermission. We love the place and wish we could come more but the events are big and therefore pricey for our budget. The one downside to these trips is not the fault of Bass, parking and driving downtown sucks so we take an uber, also we drink. Getting there is not bad but getting picked up is a nightmare. But overall we love this place, with a change in how and where you can get UBER or LYFT this would be a almost perfect night out. read more

Bass Concert music hall was one of the easiest performing arts centers to navigate that ive ever been in. I went with my mom 2 nights ago to watch the beauty and the beast on broadway austin, and it was magical! I was super scared of the parking situation, but when we drove up, wea easily just got in a short line of cars going into the garage right by the concert hall. It was a super short walk to the auditorium and when we got there we were able to get some drinks, and find our seats incredibly easily. It was an incredible time! What a wonderful experience. From parking in the garage next door. And walking to the venue. This is my first time here so a lot of unknowns. I arrived super early to give time for traffic, finding parking, and the venue itself. I had an hour to kill. Everyone I spoke with was so nice and so helpful. One lady helped me get my ticket on my phone. And scanned it. Another lady asked if she could help me find my seat. I showed her my ticket and she directed me where to go. Another group of people were telling me about the bar upstairs. And that there were bathrooms up stairs too and not as crowded as the downstairs bathrooms. Great tip by the way. When I walked into the theater I was guided again to my seat. Just a wonderful experience of being guided and I so appreciate it. I get lost in a paper bag. My seat was in the back. And to be honest, it was a great seat. Looking around, I don't think there was a bad seat in the whole room. There is also a balcony too, and I'm sure the view was outstanding up there too. The concert itself was a rock orchestra. Nothing I've ever done or seen or heard before. Bands like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, The Cranberries. Which gave me chills. Evenesense was incredible. AC/DC! such an incredible, powerful concert. I'm completely thrilled that I went to this concert. Highly recommend going to another concert or play here. The venue was beautiful. I have been to Bass Concert Hall many times for various shows and I must say that I like it a lot! The logistics of getting to and from the show are VERY easy. This week, for example, I was able to get a rideshare in no time and this is a consistent thing. Wonderful staff, great location, and no pressure to purchase any beverages. I will say that spending $4 on Dasani is quite ludicrous as it is my least favorite water but hey, the theater has to make money somehow. I strongly recommend looking at alternative methods for ticket purchases as the Texas Performing Arts website is quite expensive. I know this is not what the organization wants to see on a review but in dire times, it's the only way to see a show. Also, I do not feel as cramped as I do at the Paramount. Like I prefer ACL Live over the Moody Center, I prefer Bass Concert Hall to the Paramount! read more

We were able to find dedicated handicapped street parking in front for a cost of $15. Plenty of attendance on hand to help you scan the QR code. Entering the theater you self scan your ticket, and security will check your bag. Plenty of ushers to guide you to your seating area. The show was absolutely entertaining, the sound system fabulous. We had a SWINGING good time at Ballet Afrique's inaugural performance of Duke Ellington's Nutcracker Suite at Bass Concert Hall. Staff at Bass were helpful and full of holiday cheer! We loved the decor and photo ops, and had great seats. The ballet was a remarkable experience and celebration of Black culture through dance, music, art and song! My best advice is, if you're going, get tickets to whatever you want to see early so you can get seats no further away than the lower balcony. I visited Bass Concert Hall for the first time to watch Clue on a Thursday night. Overall, I thought the concert hall was fine! We sat on the orchestra level toward the right side of the theater (facing the stage), and I thought our view was perfectly fine from there. The concert hall itself is humongous, with multiple floors. The seats were pretty comfortable and angled well, so my view wasn't blocked by anyone. The amount of walking space in the seat rows was also awesome. I didn't have to stand up to let people pass by. The bathrooms were all clean. You can bring an empty water bottle in. They have drinking fountains where you can refill your bottle. For parking, I believe they offer paid event parking, but we found free street parking a bit farther away. The perfect place for a date night, family time, a little bit of culture, and a whole lot of fun! My mom and I used to have season tickets to Broadway shows up until 2020. The last two years, I've carried on the tradition with my daughters. I bought season tickets to alternate taking them on special dates to see shows I've loved (and some I haven't that are new for all of us). The staff is so wonderful at making sure we get in quickly, find our seats, and they're even great at making sure people are respectful and stay off their phones during the events so it's not distracting. The most 'meh' experience I've had has simply been because of a curmudgeon who arrived after the show began, was sick and sniffled their way through the show, and had the audacity to get upset that people were laughing (at the comedy). Probably best to skip the show if you can't enjoy it and will try to steal the joy from those around you (while also possibly infecting them). There is a small snack area for packaged goodies and drinks, but sandwiches and food of the sort cannot be brought inside the auditorium. read more

We came here to see Harry Potter yesterday and it didn't disappoint. Parking is always tricky downtown but we found a spot in the San Jacinto parking garage. It was 15 bucks for parking fyi but it was easy in and fairly easy out. Entrance to Bass was easy. We had our tickets on our phone and we went right through! It was fun to people watch from up above. We could see so many folks coming in costumes and kids so excited to be there!! There are plenty of drinks stations and we even saw a "serve yourself" kiosk for snacks and sodas during intermission. Drinks are pricey but most things are these days. Our seats were in Row A with an obstructed view according to the tickets but it was just fine for us!! It was magical seeing HP and the Sorcerer's Stone live with an orchestra!! You'd get so into the movie and then remember the score is being played live!! I heard other people comment the same thing as we walked out after the show. They even played through the credits. It ended with a standing ovation of course!! It was a wonderful afternoon. My husband and I recently went to two shows at the Bass Concert Hall. We saw Considering Matthew Shepard and MJ (Michael Jackson) The Musical. Both shows were amazing. All of the performers did an excellent job which made for a really pleasant experience. I've been to the Bass Concert Hall many times and each time have sat in different areas. No matter where I sit I can see the entire stage. The venue has bars on every level so I was able to get a bottled water before the show. There are no cup holders on the seats so you have to hold your drink or place it on the floor under your seat out of the walking path. I like that the seats are padded. It makes it more comfortable during the performance. We will definitely return to this venue for different performances in the future. read more

We always go to Bass Concert Hall but I've never reviewed it. Parking is $15 if you park at the San Jacinto Garage. Then it's a quick walk to Bass. Valet was $60 and you can drop off right in front of concert hall. The entrance is pretty quick and they ask that you have your tickets on your phone ready to scan. The merch line is fast and tight when you walk in. If it's a popular show then they will have another merch station on 3rd floor. They will often do themed beverages and/or food for the show. The seats depend on where you sit. We like to get the First Balcony seats. The bathrooms are clean and sometimes they will open the men's bathrooms on certain floors for women during intermission. read more

The performance of Moulin Rouge at the Bass concert hall last night was Epic- incredible actors, costumes, sets, sound, energy. The actors could sing and dance as world class gymnasts . I did not realize the story was a classic love story set in a whorehouse. As it was strictly American, the songs are Anerican contemporary. was disappointed that "Voulez Vu Cuché Avec Mois". Was only sung as a phrase at the very end. oh did I mention how accommodating the usher's and staff were? We had seats in the nosebleed section and thanks to our sweet usher, she let us to vacant seats in the mezzanine. We were still a long way from the stage. But she made eyeglasses available to me. They were a bit weak. So I highly recommend you bring your own little binoculars to watch the show as I'm betting it will always be full and you'll probably sit, like we did way back. Yes even those seats were $150 apiece. The parking attendant was so kind and thoughtful she parked us right where she stood across the street from the huge parking building in a small valet section right on the sidewalk into the concert hall. Home to all kinds of cool things including Broadway in Austin, they just can't manage to be consistently good in terms of operations. Saturday night, broadway, ads everywhere about their new coffee drinks. Except when you show up to the one bar that serves them, the machine is broken. This wouldn't be a thing but it was the same last year... AND even if you're a supporting patron with club access, they don't offer these drinks in the club. For a world class institution with world class productions, the consistent operations failures are unexplainable and simply shouldn't be happening. read more

Great theater with excellent seats and raised rows that is perfect for short people like myself. I liked the seating and set up of the orchestra portion of this concert hall. It was designed well inside, at least for orchestra. The bathrooms are a little odd as the closest women's ended being upstairs for me. However, I never received a line or wait. Maybe there were ironically more men at this particular concert! The inside is a bit tight especially for merchandise. Also, if you want to avoid processing fees online there's a 30 min free parking lot right in front of the concert hall. This was our first time at the UT campus ever! We were able to find this place with no problems and parking at the specific parking structure! ( I forgot the name of it!) This was so pretty inside! There are so many places to sit on the second floor while you wait for the doors to open! By doing this, you can eat some food, get a drink, or checkout the nice bathrooms! We had just eaten dinner prior to this event, so we didn't get any food or drinks while we waited. As the doors open for Blue Man Group, we were in awwww of the hall! It was absolutely stunning and we felt our seats on row J were great! It was a great night for entertainment and experiencing a new place! We were fortunate to be gifted Yelp tickets for the eclectic Blue Man Show. If loud noises, strobe lights, and audience participation is not your thing then you will not enjoy this show. We had a blast! These guys rocked the entire time and had us all laughing at their gags even though not a word was spoken. The audience participation was cool and the two audience members who participated in a mock wedding did a great job. As a bonus, we got to exchange pleasantries with a few old Yelp pals. My wife and I came to Bass Concert Hall recently to see a live orchestra showing of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It had been a while since the last time we found ourselves on the 40 Acres. The showing was at 7:30 and we showed up around 6:45 to ensure we could find parking--the emails we received days leading up to the event were super helpful and we had no trouble getting parking. I can't say it would have been just as easy had we arrived even 15 minutes later. The venue itself was nice with multiple floors. We got orchestra-section seating, on the further right of the room. There was a clear view of the stage and finding our seats was not difficult at all. The worst thing that could happen to you is someone 6 feet or taller sits in front of you, likely blocking a good portion of your view. The seats in each row aren't necessarily too much higher than the row before it. During the intermission each floor had multiple vending areas where they were selling drinks and snacks (mostly overpriced--$5 for a bottle of Sprite). If it's a packed house you may have to stand in line to use the restroom throughout the night as well. Overall the show was wonderful, we had a great time!! Didn't have any major complaints about the venue itself. read more

I went to see wicked and wanted to buy a cocktail but didn't even dare because the line both before the show and during intermission was insane and I would rather just dehydrate than need to go. As a season ticket holder for Broadway In Austin, we spend at least once a month here. I can't speak highly enough of the Broadway In Austin productions. They have a great line-up every year and the performances are always top notch. As a season ticket holder, we love the flexibility of always having seats but being able to trade up to a closer location. Bathrooms at Bass Concert hall are ALWAYS in high demand but if you follow the signs out to the next building over, go down two floors, you'll find bathrooms with a much MUCH shorter line. If looking for a cocktail for the show, head up a few floors. All of the bars have the same offerings, but the bars on the main entry floor are always the most crowded. And for goodness sakes, have your tickets ready when you get to the door. You don't want to be THAT person holding up the line for everyone else. read more

A decent event venue with its huge space and plenty of walking room and restrooms. Downsides were the $15 for parking, location being right in the middle of campus away from any restaurants or bars, and the seats being super close together. We went to see Six the musical and had an absolute blast. We found parking in a garage relatively quickly and fortunately didn't run into a long line or crowd. Entering and going through security was quick and easy. The bathrooms on the first floor were extremely busy so we resorted to finding some on a different floor which proved to be much better. They also had multiple lines for drinks and merch - it was nice to have options to choose which ones to line up for. We also took a picture in front of the photo op set-up. Once it was close to showtime, we made our way to our seats which were fairly easy to find with the signage on the walls indicating seat sections and numbers. As mentioned, the seats were extremely close together with barely enough room for our legs and bag of merch. We didn't dare get back up to use the restroom - even so, this show happened to not have an intermission since it was only for 80 minutes total. Not sure if this speaks to the venue or the behind scenes talent, but the lights and audio were A+, making it an even more enjoyable show! read more

The Theo Von show was absolutely amazing but I have to give this place a three star because the parking here is horrendous. I would've been better off calling an Uber or parking on the street. The parking here is so bad that you will get stuck for hours, so we left our vehicle. We called an Uber to go have dinner. Then we came back in a Uber when the traffic was down.
