From there it's a quick hop over the dunes via the path, and endless splashing and playing await. Check the tide times for Barnstable harbour, and head on down for low tide! There's even some rocks to play around on if you do hit high tide....

The tour around Hyannis Harbor was beautiful, offering stunning views as the sun set over the water. The boat itself was spotless and very comfortable, and the whole crew was incredibly friendly and welcoming. It felt like the perfect way to spend a summer evening--relaxing, scenic, and well-hosted. I lost my dad 7 years ago but as I was standing on the pier I could hear him yelling at me as if I were purposely catching puffer fish that he had to fight off the hook. Yes, I admit to getting teary eyed with nostalgia. It is a really cute beach with a nice jetty. The pier is great for high tide fishing and low tide viewing. The water is super clear with no snags or rocks to catch your line.

It sits at the opposite end from the free "first" beach and in between is what we always called the "swing" beach for obvious reason. This beach sits next to the Smugglers Beach motel which I think was changed to condos many years ago. The beach has a large boat ramp for launching boats and the ramp used to be free but now the town charges to launch. The beach itself also charges to park. Overall the largest beach and it sits at the mouth of Bass River and has a pier to fish from.

About 15 stripers were legal sized, but we only kept our legal limit of course. (If we were in NY, we would be eating bass for the rest of the summer! I'm not arguing with someone who doesn't want us on his boat, so I'm not going to tell him we spend multiple months each winter in Costa Rica and are incredibly familiar with the water; we also have done extensive boat trips off the coast of Ireland, which is incredibly choppy. Getting a refund took forever. A waste of a day. When I told the people at the ticket office they should make it more clear that the captain takes kids at his discretion I was told "the website can not go through every possible scenario." Incredibly rude and unwelcoming; families avoid at all costs!
