From there it's a quick hop over the dunes via the path, and endless splashing and playing await. Check the tide times for Barnstable harbour, and head on down for low tide! There's even some rocks to play around on if you do hit high tide....

A walking path, picnic area, basketball, racquetball, and a playground. The playground is large and has options for smaller kids and bigger kids. The best part is, it is in the shade! I will say we got here early by around 9ish and the parking lot was still pretty empty. We were only coming for like 2 hours so I do wish there was some sort of a different rate if you're not here for a full or even a half day. It was super chilly and windy even though it was the end of July, but we did enjoy laying down and getting some salt water breeze and just the sound of the water was enough to be able to enjoy. Some parts of the sand are rocky but we landed in an area that was pretty flat and sandy. As we were leaving, the parking lot was packed and I can imagine this being a place that gets filled and booked up if you don't come by a certain time. Pro tip: If you hike/walk/ride into the park, you can avoid the $25 parking fee. Other than that, be sure to bring your coral reef safe sunblock, pickup after yourself (and others if you love turtles), bring plenty of snacks and stay hydrated. Would I come to this beach as my main destination, probably not. For sure a one and done but absolutely enjoyed getting some beach and relax time.

The trail map revealed a few trails that led to a peninsula. We followed a scenic trail that led along the shoreline. The views were spectacular. We encountered 5 fur kids along the way. What a magical spot.

Coast Guard Beach seemed great also except for the fact that we would have to park and then take a shuttle to the shore. We decided on this beach, which seems to have the same feel as Coast Guard. We got there at about 945am on a Tuesday morning in August. There were only a handful of parking spots left at The Beachcomber. Parking was $30 but we got a voucher to use toward food or souvenirs from The Beachcomber (the food and mixed drinks there were very good). The beach is accessible by a pathway on a sand dune that is tall and steep. Going down was easy. Going back up required a few rest stops for me. I'm pregnant and I was carrying our 1.5 year old. It probably would've been easier for me had I not been pregnant but this is definitely not a trek for anyone with physical limitations. My 4 year old went up and down twice but her legs were really burning the 2nd time going up. This is one of the best beaches I've ever been to. Sapphire water and soft sand. Quiet crowd and limited cell service, which added to the relaxation. The shore is a little rocky but doable without water shoes. Once you walk into the water a few feet from the shore the rocks give way to soft sand. The water was cold. I almost felt like I was taking an ice bath. But it felt great once I got acclimated and really helped me cool down in the 85 degree weather. It was a really special experience and so picturesque. One important note: there is a danger of sharks because of the booming seal population. We saw seals in the early afternoon swimming playfully about 20 feet from shore. Some locals will not get in the water if they spot seals-- that means sharks could be nearby. There were lifeguards on duty and also a shark patrol boat along the coast but it's still a little scary! The current got very strong in the early afternoon. I'm used to the crashing waves at the Atlantic beaches in NY and this undertow concerned even me.

The Cape Cod National Seashore is absolutely stunning…read more I love the majestic dunes that keep you from seeing civilization when you are down on the beach at Cahoon Hollow. This beach is such a peaceful spot and very relaxing. I grew up and spent most of my life on the east coast, but since moving to California, I have visited many of the notable beaches between San Diego and San Francisco. With that said, Cahoon Hollow is still one of my favorite beaches in the United States. I have generally visited Cahoon Hollow in May-June or September-October when parking is usually free and the beaches are not very crowded. I recommend trying to visit at those times. This is another GREAT beach for sitting on and spending the day OR for taking a nice long stroll. You could walk for miles. I recommend packing a lunch, snacks and beverages. There are 2 negatives to this beach: 1. Parking is pricey in the summer. 2. It's a VERY steep walk to get down to the beach. **Lecount Hollow is another equally stunning beach that is located right next to Cahoon Hollow.**

Gateway to the sea…read more Hyannis Harbor is frequently called to Gateway to the Sea. A bit of hyperbole perhaps since there are lots of other ways to get to the sea on Cape Cod but there is no mistaking that Hyannis does indeed have a nice harbor. One of the nicest area along the harbor is a little park named after Michael Aselton, a police officer that died in the line of duty in 1983. The park was officially dedicated in 1996 and includes a few walking trails, benches and of course some view lovely views. The park is located right next to the Hyannis Maritime Museum and the one and a half mile long Hyannis Kennedy Legacy Trail runs right through the park. A nice park in a very nice place dedicated and named after someone who sacrificed all in the line of duty.

Located not too far from Chase, is Mill Creek. The paths have very minor overgrown sections, but…read morenothing compared to Chase. Since this is bigger and more room, there are benches along with picnic tables provided. The view is beautiful at the viewpoint, having a much clearer visibility all around the river leading to Lewis Bay. I'm pretty thrilled to see how great this park is, despite some very minor upgrades that need to be addressed. Take note, the bridge at the viewpoint may be slippery, due to heavy rain.
