I have used Nextdoor Electric once for actual work and also obtained three quotes from them. My…read moreusual electrical company, Blue Electrical Contractors, was super busy so I decided to try Nextdoor based on their Yelp reviews. I had them take down an old outdoor ceiling fan from my back porch and install two new ceiling lights: one in the same spot as the ceiling fan and the other over the seating area to provide more light (see photo). The job cost $572 which I thought was a little bit high, but I wanted the work done. Two big issues with the job: First of all, the technician didn't install the round ceiling light insulation discs in each fixture (see photo) which is to my understanding required to meet Underwriters Laboratory requirements. (The insulation is used to reflect heat from incandescent bulbs.) He also cracked one of the plastic conduit hangers so that it was actually broke. I found the insulation thrown in the garbage and had to dig them back out and have the technician come back to put them in and replace the broken hanger. Also, wasn't really keen on the fact that he used plastic hangers vs. metal to hang the conduit. Another issue was that I wanted a multi-outlet switch in my garage changed out to a standard outlet; see photo. Nextdoor quoted me $187 to change it out. Caido, from Blue Electrical Contractors stopped by and I had him look at it. It was only a cover; Caido unscrewed one screw and the regular outlet was underneath. I could have done it had I known this. It took Caid 5 seconds to take the multi-outlet cover off and he didn't charge me a thing. Okay. This is ridiculous! $187??!! This shows me the technician from Nextdoor Electric didn't even know what he was quoting. I was speaking to Caido from Blue Electric about Nextdoor and how I will never use them again, but can't understand their great reviews. Caido was telling me that Nextdoor's reviews could be fake and/or purchased. I really am questioning these reviews. I will never have them do any work for me again. Go with Blue Electric the next time you need electrical work; I have used them for years.

If you are looking for a top-tier network and cabling company, I cannot recommend Structured…read moreCabling Pros highly enough. I hired them for a residential project, and Dan Penny and his team were true professionals from start to finish. While my project was residential, I know they also handle commercial work, and based on my experience, I would confidently recommend them for both residential and commercial projects. From the initial walkthrough to final installation, their level of knowledge and expertise was immediately apparent. They took the time to understand exactly what I wanted with my network and security camera setup and then made thoughtful recommendations to improve performance while also keeping costs in check. What really stood out was their efficiency and attention to detail. They found smart, clean ways to run cabling that minimized disruption while maximizing long-term reliability. Everything was done neatly and with a level of precision you typically only see in high-end custom work. Communication throughout the entire process was excellent--clear, timely, and proactive. They showed up when they said they would, stayed on schedule, and delivered exactly what they promised. It is rare to find a company that combines technical expertise, honesty, and craftsmanship at this level. Dan and his team exceeded expectations in every way. I would absolutely use them again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a professional, clean, and reliable installation.

I found Daniel's excellent reviews on work he did in West U and River Oaks from when he was with Automation Destination and I was sold. Truly the reviews on Yelp did not disappoint. Daniel is an awesome communicator and he is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He loves what he does and it shows. He doesn't just recommend the most expensive products out there. He recommended quality hardware for us in our budget. Moreover he is prompt and responsive. What I appreciate the most however is his attention to detail and commitment to his work. He is one of a kind. Before and after pictures attached.

We recently needed troubleshooting for our home theater system and my husband made numerous attempts to reach someone at Empire for assistance. Calls were not returned and when he did manage to speak with someone about a service appointment, all he could get was "maybe we can stop by on Friday". Not exactly what we expected given the money we initially spent. Needless to say, no one showed up on Friday. We ended up finding another company that not only returned our calls, they sent a tech out a few days later who quickly resolved our issue. Then he went through our system and pointed out some optimizations that, honestly, should have been made during the installation. When you invest in Control4, any updates/changes have to be made through a dealer, so it's extra annoying when the dealer you purchased through no longer wants your business. We look forward to working with our NEW dealer to install additional home automation and home theater components.

Not sure about the "No job too small" claim…read more We had a great initial experience with them when they upgraded our Wi-Fi gear and ran Cat6 Ethernet wiring through our house. Nice work, professional, great customer service. Then... not so much. I called them a couple of years later, following post-storm home renovations (thanks, Gulf Coast weather), to get Wi-Fi working again and re-run Ethernet cables. Over the next couple of weeks, when I'd call to follow up, Kimberley would tell me that "the GM is working on the proposal," but never got return calls. Ghosted. Finally hired an independent IT guy to make the fixes, as well as for some followup reconfigurations on the Wi-Fi gear.

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS!!!! I called ahead to get an idea…read moreon pricing and asked if my area was serviced. I then prepaid and booked online for next day service at 3pm. I received a call at 3pm asking if I still wanted service and to let me know there was an hour and a half arrival time which I was not told the day before. He arrived an hour and 45 minutes late at 4:45, was not dressed professionally, and walked into my home like he owned the place. We briefly spoke of measurements which he then proceeded to mount the television. I checked on progress 3x during the install (I wasn't sure why the loud banging was necessary at one point) and asked questions with no response because he was talking on the phone nearly the entire install. I asked my questions louder each time, and finally got his attention. After the install was done, he said by the way you have a $20 balance for a trip charge, which caught me off guard because I was just told the day before my area was serviced with no mention of an additional fee. I paid the money because I was honestly ready for the very awkward exchange and visit to be over. Unfortunately the W&J experience lingered onto the next day when I discovered he drilled a hole from the bedroom wall where the TV was mounted through my dining room wall. I immediately text asking him to call me when he was available. Several hours later after no response I sent photos of the hole asking why he did not let me know he accidentally drilled a hole through my wall. I immediately received a call back in which he was extremely loud and defensive, denied his responsibility, and said I put the hole through my wall. After more back and forth he then offered to come back and patch up the hole. At that point, I was so uncomfortable and shaken by his reaction I would never allow him to enter my home again. I then said I would rather be reimbursed $50 for the cost of the putty, paint, labor, trip charge to the hardware store and inconvenience. Unfortunately, the conversation turned into a shouting match and he then accused me of just wanting $50 off of the job...yet, another excuse to avoid responsibility. I am just appalled of his unprofessional behavior and uncaring attitude. This whole experience will force me to continue to DIY versus wasting my very hard earned money on a company who takes people for granted like we are only there to make their world go around vs a true, ethical exchange for service. Very sad!

I'd highly recommend him for any service he provides.
