I had the How to tear down this wall bottle of beer to quench my thirst but it did not satisfy. I probably would return for another burger and nothing else. The burgers are pricy. The meal and bottle of beer cost me about $35.

It was on the 19th of December 2016 a rainy afternoon after a really long day at work, just a little over an hour and a half ago. Bastard Burgers is a fairly new place, they opened in September earlier this year but I've been completely unaware of their existence until a colleague of mine mentioned them this past weekend. Having read so much about the current boom of streetfood culture, quality burgers included, experiencing this place became my number #1 Yelp-priority. So after my regular hospital tour of duty today, there was a firm mindset about a Bastard Burger dinner. Walking in I was immediately struck by the contemporary butcher decor of concrete floor and white-tiled walls. The whole look and vibe brought on an instant reminder of Restaurant AG in Stockholm (which is only positive, mind you). Truthfully, I've been dying to dig into this whole boom of modern streetfood moving away from the mass producing franchises, but none of these places have existed in my end of the country until now. And when I've been to Stockholm etc, other restaurants and establishments have had a higher priority. But places such as this that grind their own beef every morning from a local and ecological farm, utilizing a local bakery to make their buns, make their own dressing/aioli/mayo as well as having every other ingredients extremely fresh is a dream come true. I ordered the New York burger, their take on the classic streetfood burger with beef tomato, crispy lettuce, cheddar cheese, Bastard dressing and red onion. The bun was so fluffy and tasty, but nothing can measure up to the burger - OH. MY. GOD! It was so moist, with perfect flavor and spice. It was like my tounge and palate were doing somersaults in my mouth! Topping this off with the crispy and fluffy sweet potato fries and a roasted garlic aioli was almost a sensory overload. Truly spectacular! This is streetfood with a big 'S' surrounded by a cape! Is it as good as it gets? You know, it may very well be so. I'm just too unexperienced with the current burger culture to really be the judge of that. What I do know is that for me a burger will never be the same again. And after I've experienced a bit more in this obviously exciting endeavour I will come back to this bastard, and it may very well be as good as a burger can possibly get.

Considering what the airport previously had to offer in the way of food or drinks at the airport…read morecafe this is surely a step up and in the right direction. The question is how big of a step up it really is when push comes to shove. The phrase an O'Leary's is an O'Leary's no matter where you are isn't too far off. They offer their standardized menu of burgers, salads, tex mex, and quesadillas. However, all of their signature pub dishes of fish, pasta or meat are sorely missing. No beef tenderloin, rib-eye or salmon to be found. And while it's at an airport, there's always a certain increase in expenditure, but to be charged almost 80 SEK for a 30 cl pear cider is borderline ludicrous and an honest rip-off. The few dishes I've had here as I sometimes head from work directly to the airport and in dire need of food it has never been more than adequate. They always succeed with fries, no doubt, but burgers are usually too dry, under-seasoned and dripping with mayo and grease. Whenever I need to eat something at this airport my go-to is a salad with a glass of water. Anything with alcohol is too over-priced and unsatisfying to be worth it. The location is as standardized as an O'Leary's can get, nothing more neither anything less. To finish off, have I experienced better O'Leary's than this one? Without a doubt. Have I experienced someplace worse? Yes, but that's definitely on the shortlist and frankly, this place almost qualifies on that shortlist as well.
