The location was perfect to discover the old city centre and to do some shopping. The hotel staff were a combination of efficiency and friendliness. The room was spacious and well equipped. An air conditioning might have been welcome but I can imagine that so high up north they are not really used to the heatwave we were having. This year was different, and I needed a room for New Years Eve and booked at Oranje. Checking into the hotel was easy and I was offered an Ollie Bollen (Dutch Donut), before heading up to my room. They won me over by giving me deep fried dough, but then the room it self was actually quite nice as well. I had an upgraded room with a balcony which was great for viewing the last of the fireworks when I made it back to the hotel. It was a great room, with friendly staff at an affordable price. For shopping you should be flexible (car, bus, bike and be in a good condition) because there is no shop in the village. You can find everything you need in Dokkum, a small town a few kilometers away. The Binneninn is a former school for agriculture and domestic management. The building has been renovated and designed by Bianca and Edword and you can see that they lay all their hearts in this project. Of course it is always a matter of taste but we loved the interior very much. We spent our time in the main house. It was a new experience for us because in that house we had incredibly much space. The furnishing was well balanced (color and style) and really nice. The bed (box spring bed) was the best we ever slept in during our past holidays and the bathroom... Oh boy! Not to forget the kitchen. Fully equipped with everything you need and more. There are two sofa in the kitchen and a table for easily ten person. Our daughter(4 years) was in heaven because in the backyard there are three horses, two goat,a dog and a few chicken. They have a swimming pool and paddock with sand (our kids used it as huge sand box). Everything is clean and looks absolutely great. We absolutely recommend it.
