Obsessed! We stopped on the way to Belfast, and the place did not disappoint. This brewery had everything that we look for in a brewery: great pours, plenty of space, lots of seating options, and great service. Seating and Ambiance: They have outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating as well. The couches inside are so comfortable. They also allow pups inside which I appreciated it! On a hot summer day, it was difficult for our pup to be out so this really came in handy and allowed us to have a good time. The inside area is SO spacious. Half of it is an arcade/game room with plenty of arcade games so make sure you bring some quarters. Pours: We had 4 pints and took a 4-pack to go, all for $48. The beers were really good. I really enjoyed their IPA "Cease and Desist" which they said was their most popular one. Service: We had the best service. The woman at the front gave us great beer recommendations and was so nice and welcoming from the moment we stepped inside. All in all, a solid 5 out of 5! read more

Best outdoor space in the Kennebec Valley! And excellent beer with tasty food truck attached. I have no excuse for not trying them earlier but I will be returning often. The clean indoor space has a spacious bar for beer tasting. Service is attentive and friendly. They were out of two beers I wanted to try but of the 6 that we ordered, only the pilsner was a bit flavorless. Food truck is very good although when busy there could be a wait. We had spicy fried cheese curds, wings with garlic sauce, fish and carne asada tacos. Cheese curds nice and spicy, fish taco a bit over fried. The outstanding feature is the outdoor space by the railroad and within riverview. Clean snazzy picnic tables and a few comfy Adirondacks. This is going to be the new place to be in the greater Gardiner area! Located downtown near the river Bateau is a cool funky space with great beers and great atmosphere. The beer is brewed on site and customers can see the machinery and equipment used to in the brewing process. Their beer menu is tastefully short and offered several different varieties of beer. I tried the pale IPA and the red both were clean, extremely drinkable and perfectly balanced. The brew master knows what he is doing! There is a limited offering of bar snacks, like chips and salsa and nuts. I wished the bar snack list was longer but that's just me. There is outside seating offering amazing views of the Kennebec River, Bateau is located beside the boat launch and I imagine the boat traffic next summer will increase! We are local as we live 12 minutes away roughly from the homestead. Always hitting Gardiner up to keep tasting. Decided to come here since it's one of the places we haven't at least tried. Parking is a plus there's a decent amount. My fiancé and I both had a flight which is choosing multiple beers in a small glass to see what you'd like. The person behind the counter didn't say much we walked up to the counter from coming outside. They said nothing.. Now for first timers we didn't feel super welcomed at all because we weren't really helped in the process and I explained it was our first time. So it seems if you don't go in there every single week you actually do get treated like you don't belong there. I say this because they were more focused on the people behind us instead of focusing attention towards us just for two seconds. I personally enjoy drinking beer but haven't gone out much to try new kinds. My fiancé on the other hand doesn't like beer as much. We asked for the most popular beer for the flight since we were unsure and they said well they are all popular then pointed to the board. Just as a recommendation just surprise someone next time. Miller pride food trailer was there and we had a cheese burger, Philly cheese, and larger tater tots which were really good. There was a large people playing D&D (dungeons and dragons) it seemed which got very loud I understand a good time but someone has to focus on them being very loud and say something. My fiancé was next to me and couldn't hear me until I was raising my voice at her too loud.. Someone apart of the group had brought a smaller lap dog in and let it off the leash.. Talk about yuck!!! I don't let my animals jump on a bench in public when others are eating. That's right they looked away and let the dog run around the entire establishment. It seemed like it was a usual thing because people recognized the dog. There are still health food standards to be met with and this is something I haven't seen before. We were eating our meals and the dog jumps right between us trying to eat our food. We have to push the dog off and they still didn't leash the dog. Not cool leash your dog as it should be next time. Haven't had an experience like this and it's not 100% in a good way. Obviously. Owner even around? Hey, maybe you can redeem yourself next time but standards of cleanliness and safety will have to be met by us and it's just the standard amount as I said. Would love to try this again hopefully without a flee or disease carrying dog potentially running around. People can have physical reactions. I am close to reporting this to a health inspector because truly it is unsafe I can understand a service animal who would not be running around. Also employees can maybe grow or work on personality when working? No offense but just even saying hello or hey does make a difference. I am being 100% in my reviews and they did not say a single word except when pointing out that all the beers were popular. Make the customer feel welcomed and they just joined the best beer experience to offer. Not sure of the employee name they didn't say and didn't have a name plate. Beer review though? They didn't talk much about the beer so I couldn't tell you names fully... That's okay we just went for it and the beer was very good some of the better kind I have had in a bit and we'd come back for that maybe in a little while. It's close for me it really is but sometimes it's not just the beer that will have us coming back. It's the friendliness/cleanliness of establishment. Stopped by on a Friday afternoon after my grandaughter's prom pictures. I was happy to find that I could build my own taster flight with as many selections as I desired. Most breweries only offer you four or five and often limit what you can order. Beers: Fisticuffs "Pilsner" (no indication whether it was meant to be the German or Czech style) - nice sweet grainy aroma and flavor with moderately low bitterness. Bitterness was on the low side for either style but that was fine with me - 35 on the BJCP scale. Snow Wit - moderately spicy aroma flavor (orangepeel, coriander) with medium-high graininess - 37. Raspberry Gose - surprisingly well balanced with subtle raspberry aroma and flavor and med-light tartness - very drinkable - 35. Crowhawk - (Irish Red ale) - low grainy and caramel aroma, moderate grainy and med-high caramle falvor, low botterness, my favorite of the flight though the Pilsner was a close second - 40 Four Oars - (Double IPA) - strong hop aroma (pine, grapefruit, guava) strong caramel flavor with dank, earthy hop flavor, high bitterness - 35. Colburn - (Irish Stout) - med-strong aroma of roast (chocolate/coffee); tasty roast and chocolate notes, surprisingly dry finish, dead on for the Irish Stout style - 42 My wife and I sat inside and enjoyed a nice view of the Kennebec river. The outdoor seating area was almost full when we arrived and a food truck was there as well. Parking is available in a lot just beyond the entrance to the Riverfront Park. You can also park in the park parking area and walk up to the brewery. Staff was very friendly and helpful and provided excellent service.
