This was an easy stop off to and from Boothbay or the Botanical Gardens. The two stars here entirely represent the ease of free parking and the service, with clean dining room and bathrooms. Another nice aspect was the free recipe with spice packets, free chocolate tasting and free coffee grounds. All these were very tasty. So I have confidence their food was probably good, though we did not order any. The drinks were quite horrible. There were two of us who stopped in. One tried the spirit flight and the other the mead and kombucha flight. Nothing was good to either of us. I've never left a spirit behind, but this time I had to. The offerings were just terrible to taste. Hopefully they'll get some better local businesses to support their drink offerings in the future. read more

The standout for us this year, was trying a Maine made vegan "meat" salami! They are also dog friendly and have lots of parking!! The staff is also so welcoming!! A must stop if you are traveling along route 1 . We stopped here for the taste of Maine 101 tasting board . It was so cute and we learned so much about Maine's culinary landscape. I highly recommend checking out their website for classes that are offered . It's best to plan ahead for those because certain classes are only offered on certain days . You can still drop in without a reservation and enjoy a tasting experience independent of the led tastings. For the Maine 101 class I recommend adding the cocktail pairing which consists of 2 wines and a beer . It was perfect ! In addition to the Maine 101 tasting we also enjoyed a blueberry grilled cheese and it was amazing . Local blueberry's paired with grilled onions . It was absolutely delicious ! The tasting room is perfect as a rainy day activity and it's conveniently located along Rt1 near Wiscasset & Boothbay Harbor. They have plenty of parking , restrooms and a small gift shop . We really enjoyed the hospitality here and will certainly patronize them again on future trips ! read more

If you ever find yourself traveling along Route 1 in Maine, make sure to plan a visit to the Maine Tasting Center to explore state's local food history and culture. My sister and I passed it on the road during a roadtrip last year and made a note to plan time for a visit during our most recent coastal Maine adventures and it was a highlight of the trip for both of us. We're both big foodies and always try to learn about the local food scene and the Maine Tasting Center is intentionally designed to do just that. We participated in their Flavors of Maine 101 tasting class (offered daily at 2pm but make sure to book by 1:45 day of) and it was SO GOOD. We also opted to do the additional drink pairing with the day's tasting board and I would highly recommend. Our wonderful teacher took us through three themed courses that paid homage to the state's native influence, the modern day dairy industry, and of course seafood. Everything on the board was delicious (okay maybe the seaweed salad wasn't my favorite but it was still super interesting to try and learn about). We'll definitely be returning on future trips and I can't wait to try some of their other class options I saw them advertising (especially the cheese class!) read more

Loved the Maine Tasting Center! The food was creative and delicious! They offer a number of charcuterie boards and individual dishes. We had the vegan Farmer's Board. Excellent! My bf also had the crab bisque and said it was very tasty. Many choices for beer (including non-alcoholic), wine, and spirits. Very friendly people. They welcome dogs on the outside deck and even brought our pooch a bowl of water. Highly recommended!! read more

The cooking classes I took doing Indian foods with San were so good and I learned a lot especially about when items should be added to the dishes. The Maine Tasting Center is a must-visit location in Maine. It's an easy drive from Portland, and it's on the way to lots of beautiful places in Maine. If you choose to stay nearby in a hotel or airbnb, you're a quick ride to lots of other Maine attractions as well. You can stop in just to have a quick drink or snack in the tasting room, but I really recommend scheduling for one of the cooking classes. The staff are kind, informative, and fun, and the food you work with is high quality and delicious. Any level of chef can participate (within reason, we didn't have to even chop anything in the dumpling class) and there was plenty of food to serve as a meal - we left with extras! I have tried many of the foods and drinks served in the Tasting Center and I have attended events and classes in the adjacent Learning Center. My experiences have been wonderful. It's a great way to sample the wares of the many Maine food & beverage producers. The service is good and the staff is knowledgeable about the products and businesses that are represented. The facilities are nice, clean, and accessible. There's a lovely deck and gazebo area for enjoying your food & drinks in good weather. There's also a small shop where they sell some of the Maine products served in the Tasting Center. This is a great place to visit if you're a foodie or a beer or wine connoisseur--or if you just like to try or learn about new things. read more

The Maine Tasting Center is quite an experience.....from their tasting room restaurant where you can build your own board of amazing Maine products like breads, cheeses, meats, jams, mustards, beers, wines.....all "made in Maine" to their wonderful cooking school and classes of all kinds held there!! And in between these two buildings is an incredible self guided museum of all kinds of foods and crops that are such an interesting part of Maine's history! I used to think MTC was only for tourist but it is a mecca of all things Maine and certainly even the most seasoned Mainer will enjoy the food, wine and everything else there.....Oh and let me also mention that the staff is amazingly helpful and pleasant!! read more

My husband and I attended a second event hosted by the Maine Tasting Center. We loved the time we spent there: the presenters and speakers are charismatic people, and we always learned something new. Wow, these folks love food as much as we do and it shows. It was their inaugural weekend and our plan was to stop in with friends for just a nibble of something before moving to try another new business in town. Good luck settling on just one tiny nibble. Everything on the menu - both drinks (not just beer) and small plates was tempting. We nerded out talking food with one of the owners before we even had a look at the drink menu. The idea here is to celebrate food and the small producers in Maine who raise, grow, catch, forage, brew it, etc. and if you don't know it yet, talent for producing great food and drink abounds in Maine. We ordered a seafood platter and a cheese/charcuterie board for the table which were both beautifully presented with generous portions and all sorts of special accompaniments - think mustard, jam and candied nuts on the cheese board and seaweed and dipping sauces with the seafood and a gorgeous selection of crackers and breads for spreading. You could easily make a meal of these offerings and we plan to on a fairly regular basis. We couldn't be more thrilled to have the Maine Tasting Center in Wiscasset and we will be spreading the word and returning often. Next time I promise to snap a few pics to share. read more
