For €12,5, I cannot think of a better way to tour the River Seine. A few notes (with the most important tip being the last one!): *If you are actually looking to learn about the sights that you are seeing, save your trip for another boat. This trip is purely 100% sight seeing. *Go at night so you can actually experience why Paris is called the City of Lights. *If you can, grab a seat near the edge of the top open deck. If you are in the very back of the boat, you won't have people photo bombing your photos so it at least looks like you are on a private boat ride by yourself. *Because of the price, the attendees tend to skew to the younger, rowdier side which is fine by me. It was great to meet people from around the world who loved Paris as much as I do. Towards the end of the night, a spontaneous dance party was spawned between a group of Gujaratis, Swedes, and Spaniards. Kind of annoying, but also kind of awesome. *They offer several tour packages that include dinner, lunch or champagne which is more expensive. Originally we had wanted to go on a champagne river cruise (because doesn't that sound uber romantic?!?!) but we couldn't stomach the price at €55 a piece. While waiting in line we found out that they were actually selling bottles of champagne for €25 (cash only) that you could take a board the ship! Ooh la la, now that's what I am talking about! Even more so, they did not check bags when walking in so I'm pretty sure you could bring in a champagne/wine/a small picnic from the outside at a cheaper price and they would not even notice. After a lot of going back and forth between a ton of tours that Paris has to offer, we decided on the Bateaux Mouches. We took the last cruise of the night on a chilly night in November and absolutely loved it. The best part about the trip was before getting on the boat, while you are waiting, you could treat yourself to some Gluhwein. About the boat ride, thankfully our trip was not jam-packed so we could move around from the top level to the warm inside lower level to suit ourselves throughout the duration of the boat ride which was about 45 mins. We were able to get great view of the city and it was a perfect way to start the Paris visit. This helped us decide which places we wanted to visit and which we could skip. The only complain is about the announcement. The change between the language is so quick that it is difficult to keep pace. read more

Ughhhhhhhhh.....I know I was a tourist, but my god, tourists are awful!! This company needs to work on crowd control in the worst way. When we were boarding the boat, there was legitimately almost a stampede situation. For some reason it is a free for all and everyone is in such a hurry and crawling up your back. Two small children were almost trampled to death in the bedlam. This company should think about banning selfie sticks (IMO the world should ban them, but whatever). And the narration in seventeen different languages is hella annoying. Why not have head phones and tune into whatever language you need? Maybe then you could get something out of the tour. All this insanity aside, this is a great way to see paris by night and I'm glad I did it. I just wish bateaux mouches cared more about making the experience pleasant and enjoyable for customers. read more

The Bateaux Mouches. On further thought, and in comparison to all the great options in Paris- I can only go two stars on the mouches. This is not taking into consideration that our companion fell down the stairs *** DUE TO LACK OF HAND RAILINGS TO BATHROOMS *** and ***BROKE HER ARM*** and had to be removed by French Firemen and taken to the hospital. This occurred before our cruise and since our party could not join her in the ambulance, we continued on the dinner cruise. FIrst, WATCH YOUR STEP. I am shocked there were no hand railings to the lower level on our boat and everyone, especially women in heels, should be extra cautious. Our friend was not drunk, and she is young. Horrific fall. Second, We did the high end dinner at 150 Euros a pop. The experience was quite nice, though very manufactured and impersonal. The food came out like clock work: Over three hours here is the menu: Champagne (cheap headache kind). then appetizers (ours sucked; shrimp stuffed cabbage that tasted awful- a spittable mouthful), then Foie Gras (Also, not the highest quality and room temperature and also, eew, stringy?) then steak (at least 16 ounces- no complaints!) with asparagus and potatoes (AOK!) The cheese plate (also AOK!) Dessert was a white chocolate strawberry MESS that dessert-o-holics passed on... The red wine served with dinner was surprisingly EXCELLENT! There was a great singer and room for dancing throughout the evening- very nice!. People were dressed up! And the best, over the course of the long long dinner, there was ample opportunity to go up to the deck and watch Paris go by, during summer sunset, and witness spectacular colors and lights and photo ops. read more

Worst boat tour EVER! I don't know what every body else was talking about with their reviews because I did not enjoy the hour tour at all because it was NOT good. To start with, once you buy your ticket and pass through the turnstile, it is every man/woman for themselves! People (adults at that) were pushing and shoving and NOBODY from the company was "directing traffic." This meant we missed a nice photo-op in front of the boat facing the Eiffel Tower which was empty because everyone was squeezed into the corridor waiting to board. Parents with children pushing using their child's stroller to get onto the boat first so as to get a "better seat" which as far as I'm concerned doesn't exist unless you are the first few people on and get a seat next to the edge. If you get a seat inside, it wouldn't be a big deal as the boat has all glass covering the inside part. That's how I'm assuming the company imagined it to be however, they did not account for the people who sit along the edge and proceed to stand up the whole time effectively blocking the view from your seat inside. The tour was in several different languages however, I don't agree with a previous yelper who said they translate word for word. I only speak English and Spanish so I can only vouch for those and the Spanish version gave more way more details than the English version which I was then able to translate to my brother who only speaks English. Pass on any Seine river boat ride unless you can splurge for the dinner boat which has limited tables and seating therefore making any seat a good seat regardless of if people stand up to take pictures or not. read more

They offer in seven languages...you think, oh, isn't that nice. Until you realize they give them in series, one after the other...so, they have precious little time to say anything - just a recording, not personalized. There's a reason this company is the top river boat tour company on the Seine in Paris - they provide a good tour at a decent price. We caught a late afternoon tour for 1 hour, and they took us along the river, first east past the National Assembly, Louvre, Notre Dame and more... and then returned west, went past the starting point to get past the Eiffel Tower, and then returned. Surprisingly, having the recorded audio tour in 8 languages (but not German? hehe) played through the loudspeakers at first seemed like they would skimp on details, but the English tour was not without detail on history and architecture. Basically, go on a sunny day, sit on the top deck, and watch Paris go by and take photos. On the westbound trip, it can get a little breezy, so be prepared with a windbreaker. We were on a big boat, but it wasn't crowded, so we all got seats on the edge on the top... read more

We have travelled many countries, but it was our first time to Paris. We were very excited to see Paris in the night, and wanted to take this cruise. FIrst, service on this cruise is terrible, if you are a colored person like me forget about good service. On top of it we requested vegetarian the food was the most horrible I have ever tasted. They provided very late service and they did not bring our food almost till the end, and when we kept asking the manager who knew little English kept saying "Mister" this is it. Had the late dinner cruise. Dinner was good, not outstanding. Wife's Appetizer of foie gras was kinda weird. Very pasty. I had an outstanding veggie dumpling in a light broth. Salmon plate for me, and cod for the wife. Both moist and well prepared, but lacking seasoning or sauce. Desserts were unmemorable. Champagne and white wine for dinner. Soft drinks for the underage crowds. Service was impeccable, with Dyana and her assistant keeping many tables happy. I'll pass on the cheese. The night views were incredible. Even though sunset was late - well after 10 pm - the boat came around again to make sure we got great views of the Eiffel Tower. The upper deck is completely empty for that purpose. And every dining table is on the outside with views. They ended much later than advertised so we could get great, dark, nighttime pics. The pianist and violinist were also great. First of all the price is high for what you get plus the cattle car mentality. It is €13.50 per adult, which works out to about $18.00. You go up to the window and pay for the tickets. The staff have the attitude of a tourist trap. Be careful when they give you the option between paying with your credit card in Euros or Dollars, as they were trying to add 10% in the exchange. After you get your tickets you get your ticket scanned and you go through a turnstile. Then as others on here describe it is every cow for himself, as everyone shoves themselve onto the cattle car, or cattle boat in this case. The tour groups are very obnoxious. They also do the narrating in many different languages, so there was very little done in English. Comfort on the boat doesn't exist. The chairs are hard plastic and not much space between rows. I was in the front row and people were crowding in front of us constantly bumping into us and stepping on us. read more

I had a great experience. I did the tour right before sunset. The boat was not overcrowded for a weeknight journey in May. I write those details because it depends on certain timings as to the experience you get. I think the sunset rides get really crowded. I sat on top at the front of the boat and captured a time-lapse video of the ride and it came out amazing. I did not have the dinner cruise so my ride was 15 or so euros. The ride lasted about an hour and I loved all the sights along the river. I got there about half an hour before the ride started and bought my ticket. Great way to see the city especially at night, if you take the boat do the promenade, not the dinner. The food was terrible, we got the Prestige dinner; appetizers were nasty! Heirloom tomato carpaccio was okay, fried veal and gnocchi disgusting. Cheese plate was too stinky for me, which I did see other people eating, so it may have been beyond my cheese palate. Chocolate grand cru was good. For $200 you can get WWAAYY better cuisine in Paris- hands down the worst meal on the trip. It was similar to the cheapest wedding food I've ever had. Unfortunately I can only give three stars because they gave a small description of each bridge monument and spoke about paris but only in french, Italian,German,Chinese and Japanese. It was great to see structures I wouldn't know to take pictures of while touring on foot. However, I think it was a bit overpriced. The appetizer and dessert were good, but the main course was bland. I have heard people talk about bland food in Paris, but in my experience the food is only bland when doing touristy things such as this. Everywhere else I ate was off the beaten path at places frequented by French residents, which is where you will find delicious food at affordable prices. Check out the 11th arrondissement for the best authentic food and more affordable clothing boutiques (The Frankie Shop or Gang of Earlybirds). In hindsight, I would have selected a cruise that did not provide a meal to cut cost and have a much better experience. read more

Les Bateaux Mouches is one of the many companies offering boat tours along the Seine. It was recommended by a Parisian friend, and also seems to be highly rated on many travel sites and guides. I'm not sure how it actually compares to other boat tours. Unfortunately, our tour experience was marred by rain. We'd walked down to Les Bateaux Mouches - which took about an hour from our hotel. We'd hoped to take a trip just after sunset when you could see the city all lit up. It started drizzling slightly on the walk down there, but by the time we got on the boat the rain was really coming down. This meant that we had to sit on the lower deck under the clear plexiglass canopy. I'm not sure how the upper deck is, but you really can't see anything from the lower deck. You mostly just see the bridges and the walls along the Seine. Also, we were on the Port side of the boat, and it seems like the narration both out and back is concentrated on things off the ships Starboard side. Speaking of the narration, I could barely hear it. Maybe its louder on the upper deck or maybe the rain was causing problems. It also didn't help that the group of Chinese tourists around me were talking during the entire trip - but I would expect that you should still be able to hear and understand the narration over the sound of other passengers. So my particular tour was not great. It was cold and wet, I couldn't see anything and couldn't really hear anything. Still, I hope that if you go on one of these tours on a nice warm night and sit on the upper deck, you'd have a much better experience. read more

A decently priced boat tour (~€13, $15) on the Seine River. A boat tour comes around every 40 minutes. While you get a view of all of the main sights of Paris, the pre-recorded tour facts was not too memorable or interesting. This is also a very popular stop for tour buses so brace yourself for groups if tourists who can be a little rude. However, regardless of all the negative aspects, you get some really cool views of the city within an hour timespan. If you're short on time, I would recommend checking this out. read more

Not at all impressed with this boat tour along the Seine. As the last activity on our final night, we thought it'd be a relaxing way to end the trip, and figured we could learn a bit more about some of the tourist attractions we had visited along the Seine. Unfortunately, the audio recording is repeated in about seven different languages, meaning the actual amount of useful content you learn is minimal. We took the last boat tour of the night when we were at Paris. I have to say it is definitely an experience to see the city of lights at night as it is beautiful however the night we went, it was freaking COLD! It wasn't so bad when we first started because we were downwind, but when we turned around, my eyes were tearing from the cold winds. There was also some asshat who decided to pour some sort of liquid over the bridge as the boat was coming out from under it. One of the things that you will not noticed if you never took a boat tour is the amount of people who hang out by the river at night to just smoke, drink, and socialize. It is ridiculous the amount of people that do that. I think you should definitely check out a boat tour if you're in Paris because it gives you a pretty good overview of a lot of the tourist spots and the audio tour is pretty descriptive. read more

We got this as part of the hotel package and went on it right after we got on the Eiffel Tower. It is just a short taxi ride away from the Eiffel at Pont D'Alma. We went on the tour at 3 pm. It was a total of 1 hour and 10 minutes or so. The boat itself was double-decker with the bottom covered and the top open. We sat in the bottom deck surrounded by glass, but after a point went outside and sat on the sides because the view is not as good from inside the boat, simply because the buildings are all up above and the boat/river are below ground level. The views are great, there is a commentary in French, English and something that sounded like Chinese (I'm not a 100% sure on this one). The commentary outlines the different monuments as you are passing by them - the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, various bridges and their history, etc. among others. The boat was mostly empty, so it was nice - not crowded. Great tour for people who want to see the monuments and bridges from a different angle. Enjoyed it! read more

This boat ride is terrible. One of the absolute worst boat rides that I have ever been on. We waited 45 minutes (not exaggerating) for anyone to greet us. The food was terrible, actually, inedible. The waiter nearly dropped the cast iron top on my leg. Totally understaffed, but at the same time, getting the boat ready for the next party on the other side of the ship. If I could have abandoned ship, I would have. We didn't even get our meal until right before we docked. We literally walked off not eating, and then had to dine out elsewhere. The eight of us took this cruise on our last night in Paris. We were able to buy tickets at the port when we arrived. The best time to take this cruise on Le Seine is around sunset. The highlight of this cruise was at the last twenty minutes where the boat sailed around the Eiffel Tower. You can just imagine everyone's excitement as they captured all the different angles of the Eiffel tower at sunset. It was definitely a Kodak moment! read more

I am so, so disappointed with my experience with Bateaux Mouches. I booked a dinner cruise as a surprise for my partner's birthday but when we arrived, we were told that the route had been closed because the river was too high due to rainfall. We were given two options: have dinner on the boat whilst it remained moored and stationary and take two tickets for an ordinary sightseeing cruise to redeem another time, or go away and return to have our dinner cruise on another night. We weren't very well going to turn around and go home to cook something at that time of the evening - as I said, it was my partner's birthday apart from anything else - and having already spent 200€ on the dinner cruise, I wasn't in a position to take us out for dinner elsewhere. So, we decided to have the meal there and then. Presumably because some people opted to take the cruise another night, the boat was half empty, and between that and the fact that we were looking at the iron dock/stairs through from one side of the boat, there was a very strange atmosphere. The food was good, although the duck I had for my main course was almost completely cold, which I wasn't impressed with, especially given the boat was only half-full. Even without the cold food, though, it was certainly not a 200€ meal. Nor was it a 172€ meal, which is the value of the experience minus the value of the sightseeing cruise tickets (worth 13€ each). There is absolutely no way I would have paid so much money for such a mediocre experience, and I feel that neither one of the two options presented to us in lieu of what I had paid for were at all sufficient. To add insult to injury, at least one other Bateaux Mouches dinner cruise passed us whilst we sat, stationary. As it left at the same time as our boat was scheduled to, I asked why this boat, clearly offering an identical experience, was able to go when ours was not. I was advised that we were on a slightly taller boat, so the regulations were different. Apart from the fact that I was given an incorrect explanation on arrival, I was so upset and annoyed to discover that our misfortune was compounded by an arbitrary choice Bateaux Mouches made to allocate my reservation to a slightly larger boat. In my opinion, this makes the poor attempt at compensation even more inadequate. I tried to address my dissatisfaction to Bateaux Mouches via email a couple of weeks ago, but I have received no response. I realise it was not their fault that our cruise could not go ahead as scheduled, but I feel like they should have handled the situation significantly better and I am left feeling somewhat cheated and very disappointed. It was intended to be such a special experience - I've certainly never spent so much money on a meal before - and it was a huge let-down instead. read more

I asked if she could just look me up by name (I entered all my info into the website) and she said no. Dispirited, I began walking out, when the more stubborn part of my brain took over. At this point I tell her that I've already paid and they are going to let me on the boat. She turns to another computer, looks me up by name, and prints me a ticket. *** The Actual Tour *** The tour is okay. In fairness, you do get to sit on a boat and see monuments. If they hadn't tried to scam me, I'd give it 2 or 3 stars. However, the whole thing just feels as though no one really cares: -All of the facts are read in 6 languages. Instead of having an mp3 player and headphones so you could choose your own language, you have to listen to all of the languages for every fact! -It takes so long to present each fact 6 times that there are probably only about 10 facts presented in the whole tour! Imagine how many details were left out. What's more, there were notable differences between the French, English & Spanish versions of the audio with interesting tid bits being consistently omitted in one or more of the languages. *** CONCLUSION *** Do NOT do business with this company! It is oldest and most well-know boat cruise company and does along fantastic views of Paris. Other cruise companies offer a personal listening device to hear the narrated tour in your language. Unfortunately Bateaux Mouches's narration is over a loud speaker (which is hard to hear) and they will repeat the same short sentence in 4-5 languages. read more

The evening dinner Cruise is a highlight of any Paris vacation. The trip on the Seine in the early evening and then sunset provides a great opportunity to see many of the city's most historic sites. My friend and I took an hour boat cruise along the Seine. I think it was 12 or 15 Euros, which wasn't too bad. But just don't come here hungry because it is quite a long ride. Bring some snacks, if you need to. If you want to see all the major landmarks of Paris in one sitting, the cruise is the way to do it. I would suggest getting on the boat in the late afternoon towards early evening because you get a nice shot of the Eiffel Tower with the lights on towards the end of the cruise. Pretty romantic! There is no personal tour guide but there is a pre-recorded guide that speaks in several languages and basically pinpoints the specific landmarks and buildings we passed by. read more

We were really looking forward to taking the boat tour. In fact, we went out of our way to go back and do it on the last night of our trip. First, I'll say that it was Saturday night when we took the tour, which perhaps is part of the problem. We showed up a little after 8:00 pm, with enough time to get on the 8:30 pm boat. We bought the tickets easily enough, but then the problems started. There was a huge crowd waiting to get on the boat, and you basically got herded like cattle onto the boat. Ideally, you would want to sit on the top level, but those seats were long gone by the time we got on the boat. We got some seats inside, but rapidly realized that it would be better to stand along the rail outside. So, we moved outside. The decks were crowded with people both seated and standing. We stood along the rail and had a decent view, but we were pretty much jockeying with people for position. Then, the commentary is just useless. You can barely hear anyway, and the majority of the time it is repeating some trivial piece of information in 10 languages. It's better just to read the brochures which are available in multiple languages. Overall, the views are nice, and the boat does allow you to cover a lot of territory and see things from a perspective which you wouldn't get otherwise. However, it's not really worth dealing with the crowds. Maybe it's better during the week at less of a peak time, but I wouldn't advise anyone to take this particular tour. We passed many other smaller boats and wished we were on them instead. Also, keep in mind that the boat dock is about 20 min brisk walk from the Eiffel towel even though it appears to be close of their brochure map. read more

this was probably the highlight of the whole trip. the boat was nice, (dont go into the bathroom (though I didnt, I was warned it was covered with poop flies.. gross). for 11 euros each you are picked up from the very west side of the port and float all the way to the end of the east of paris and back. We went on the night cruise and it was just breathtaking. All the lights of Paris are lit up and all the landmarks are along the river. Poeple, locals and tourists were all out drinking on the banks and partying so it was also entertaining to people watch. We also got mooned by a group of 4 boys, and a few others here and there. There are details on the bridge and buildings you don't see walking over it as you would floating under it. Also its nice to see the other side of paris while you rest your tired little feet from walking around all day. this was the more romantic and best 11 euros I spent that whole week. read more

ZERO STARS and the worst paid experience ever! I brought 22 of my family members from around the world to this supposedly upstanding establishment and paid $76 Euros a head only to be put in the worst hell hole of sweltering 30 degrees heat blazing heat and no AC. Some members had heatstroke symptoms because the had no ventilation and full sun. My four year old niece ended up having a headache and nausea. It was like being baked in an oven with no way out. Staff did not care despite multiple talks with the supervisor. They refused to move us closer to the center where there was a tad more ventilation. We tried to move closer to the doors for some air but they yelled at us and slammed the door on one of us. UNBELIEVABLE ! We tried to get a refund but no answer. As another slap in the face when I asked for the number of the supervisor they gave us the number of a Chinese restaurant because we are Chinese American. They did not answer any emails we sent. There is NO accountability and took us for the worst ride ever for over $1000 Euros. When the captain came down they then realized it was a simple fuse blown. Why did they not just ask the captain? They took advantage of us because we were Asian American even though my husband is French and was fully fluent in French. Wow, what a disappointment. This was to be an epic evening, full of great food, wonder and delight to celebrate my dear friend's 40th birthday. This was my 3rd time in Paris, but the first for my husband and I really wanted this to be an amazing experience for him and the rest of my group of long time friends. Getting on the boat was not a big deal - we were escorted quickly to our tables. We waited FOREVER to get a sip of wine - having to ask the server several times for it. We opted for a 4 course experience and each round of food was worst than the last. Even the baguette and butter was sub par at best - I have good teeth but knawing through a hockey puck can be challenging even for Jaws. My first course was a salmon tartare that was MEH but I ate it. Second course was a simple piece of grilled pollack with some vegetables, which easily came straight out of the Gordon's fisherman box from the freezer section of your local grocery store. The third course was a variety of cheese - which was the best part. It's pretty hard to mess up a cheese plate in Paris. I can't remember what they served for dessert but I basically gave up at this point and went upstairs to marvel at the sparkly Eiffel Tower. The sight of which never gets old. The sightseeing by far was the best part of the evening. Not even a live violinist and piano player could salvage the dismal vibe of the unhappy tourist clusterf*ck happening downstairs. I found out the hard way that both ladies water closets were out of order and it smelled like a giant poop on the lower deck. The eau de toilette stayed with me for quite some time. Thankfully, we can laugh about the experience, but we learned a hard lesson. Avoid the dinner cruises. Do a champagne tasting cruise or just a plain hour-long sightseeing tour at night. Go and eat in one of the thousands of cafes on Rue Cler, Le Marais or the Latin Quarter. Make every calorie count! read more
