I had come to Luna Sol a while back, on a whim, when I found out that a celebrated author was doing a workshop on healing sacred plants. I fell in love with the store and the vibe and vowed to come back. A few months passed and the opportunity to visit presented itself. I wanted some gnomes for my garden, and I figured this shop may have some magical garden sculptures. Well, I did not find gnomes but I picked up a Green Tara made of volcanic stone, and I am so stoked! This shop has a large selection of outdoor stuff, and lots of indoor statuettes and figurines. But I mean a lot, and very rare, which makes them perfect for a gift. Midday, I receive a call cancelling because the "master" stylist , Mary S., "doesn't have clippers." That alone is absurd, but it gets worse. When I called back and spoke with MaryBeth, I asked the obvious question: does the stylist have scissors or a straight blade? Because anyone remotely competent knows a basic nape trim doesn't require clippers. Her response? The stylist "doesn't do short haircuts." So not only was the appointment accepted, confirmed, and held on the schedule, it was assigned to someone incapable--or unwilling--to perform a first-year cosmetology task. I went in person, hoping for some level of accountability, and spoke with Diamond, the store manager. She couldn't explain why the booking system allows clients to schedule services the staff won't perform. She also couldn't explain why not a single "experienced" stylist in the building could step in and complete one of the most basic haircuts imaginable. At every step--online system, staff communication, and in-store management--this was handled with a level of incompetence that would be comical if it weren't such a waste of time.
