1 STAR -- Extremely disappointed with the customer service at Batteries Plus in Stevens Point…read more I am extremely upset and disappointed with the way I was treated at this location today. Yesterday, I went to Batteries Plus to have a replacement car key and key fob made. Unfortunately, the store had no power, so the employee asked me to come back later. Instead, I called the store before making another trip. The employee I spoke with yesterday was very helpful. He confirmed that the power was back on, that they had the part I needed, and that although they were a little busy because they had been without power for so long, he could still take care of my key and fob. He gave me an approximate price of $175. I specifically asked if I needed an appointment, and he told me NO. I then asked if I could come back the following day, and he said that would be fine. So I came back today based on the information YOUR EMPLOYEE gave me. Unfortunately, I dealt with a different employee today, and the experience was completely different. When I explained what I needed, his response was, "You know they are so expensive." I told him yes, I knew the price because the employee I spoke with yesterday had already given it to me. He then told me that they do these services without an appointment. I explained that the employee yesterday specifically told me I did not need an appointment. His response? "That's a lie." I was absolutely shocked. I am the customer. I called ahead. I asked questions. I confirmed the price. I asked whether I needed an appointment. I followed the instructions I was given by YOUR employee. If there was a misunderstanding between employees, that is an internal problem that should be handled between employees. I should not have been made to feel like I was lying, stupid, or somehow responsible for their lack of communication. And it wasn't just what he said--it was his entire attitude and the way he spoke to me. I felt uncomfortable and disrespected standing there. At that point, I took my keys and left. I told him he was being rude because, honestly, he was. I completely understand that employees can have stressful days. I understand that stores can be busy. I understand that miscommunication can happen. What I DON'T understand is why a customer who did exactly what she was told should be treated with such disrespect. Your own store advertises key cutting, key fob replacement, and programming services, so I expected a professional customer-service experience. (Batteries Plus) Instead, I walked out feeling embarrassed, frustrated, and extremely disappointed. The way you treat customers matters. A simple, respectful explanation would have been enough. There was absolutely no reason for the attitude or for telling me that what another employee told me was "a lie." I will be taking my business elsewhere. $175 is not an insignificant amount of money, and I am certainly not going to spend it somewhere that makes me feel disrespected before I even receive the service. I hope management sees this review and takes it seriously, because this was not simply a misunderstanding about an appointment. It was a customer-service failure and an unnecessary lack of respect.

I had previously purchased a car battery here that failed sometime between 24 and 29 months after…read morepurchase. The battery was still within the warranty window listed with the battery, so I went to Courtney Industrial Battery to obtain a replacement. What followed was one of the worst customer experiences I've ever had. The first reason the technician gave for not being able to fulfill the warranty was because this store only warranties batteries for one year (much shorter than the 30 month warranty on the battery). I pointed out that the manufacturer's warranty was still in effect. The second reason the technician gave me for not being able to help was that I would have to claim that warranty directly with the manufacturer. I mentioned that I had already read the manufacturers' warranty, which requires me to return the battery to the place where I purchased it (which was this store). She seemed to be familiar with this process, but somehow did not see fit to mention this until I brought it up myself. I also had a print out of that warranty as well as my original receipt. On the technician's third attempt at an excuse to avoid warranty service, the technician looked at the battery and noticed a slight bulge, which she then blamed me for being responsible for. I said I had treated this battery no differently than my other car batteries. I asked if this could be due to a manufacturing defect, and she said that was not possible - she insisted it was because I overcharged or had frozen the battery. She proceeded to talk down to me, and then called the customer service line for the battery. I realized that the purpose of this phone call was not to help me, but only to prove that she was right and get me to leave the store. She talked for me while on the phone with the technician and was very insulting. I took the battery and walked out of the store, while she was still on the phone with the representative substituting her own version of what happened for my own. I will never go back to this store. It was clear from the moment I walked into the store that this person's goal was to avoid servicing the warranty at all costs. At one point while having difficulty with the technician, I asked her if they had a lot of warranty claims at this business. She said that they had almost none because the batteries were so "good", but after this experience I suspect the real reason may be because they actively try to disincentivize warranty claims at every opportunity. Do yourself a favor and buy your battery from literally anywhere else. Why would you pay full price for a battery with a partial warranty that you know you're going to have to claw and scratch to be able to claim?
