We got there today and I was so excited to have a burger. It did not disappoint. The buns are amazing... The burger was tasty and had amazing toppings. Mushroom and Swiss with fried onions for me. California burger for my friend. This is not a fast food restaurant so, knowing you may have a little wait, sit at a picnic table and enjoy life while watching the lake across the way. It sure helped me... Oh... You can do so well enjoying a cream soda! Can't wait to go back. I love supporting small businesses. Thanks Maple Beach for being a fun part of my day off. We camp but we have had friends stay in the cabins. We stayed in the wooded sites kindling is our favorite, big sites easy to pull thru and lots of space for the dog to hang out too. Fire pit is always cleaned up and looking nice. Water and sewer hook up area is clean and looks nice too! We have stayed in the sites facing the lake too and those are nice as well. I have heard the lake is beautiful but we have not been out on the lake yet! We always look forward to our next stay!

They were very busy and for us to have the order put in would've been almost nearly another hour to wait. We had to get grandpa some food as he was crashing fast. Fortunately the barbecue place next-door save the day and got us food quickly. Used to really enjoy the otter and everybody there is very friendly. However no offer to cover or discount our appetizer onion rings and a couple of cocktails we had ordered while we were waiting for the food for again nearly 2 hours. Not exactly the kind of Customer Service I expect when I'm in the Midwest. I will say the onion rings were delicious but since that's the only thing we were able to try that's all I can say and that is where the two stars come from. Their home is your home when you stay there. Bubba and Margie are the owners and they are dynamite people to sit an d chat with. Bubba has some great stories to tell and loves to tell them! Margie's talent is to make you feel at home with scrumptious goodies and a breakfast to die for! There are not words to describe the beautiful location that they occupy. It is a peninsula of land surrounded by a gorgeous lake and wild life. Please see the beautiful photos. I met several people that are return guests and they tell me that if you stay here, it will be very hard for other B & Bs to compare in many ways. They have many rooms in the house that are for adults only and then they have several guest houses on the property for families or groups to rent out. They have all the amenities that you would expect like boats, paddle boats and fishing poles to name a few things. This place is a nature's paradise with animals and activity where ever you look. You can nearly hand feed chipmunks at the front door if you like to that kind of thing. The way that I found this place was when my boss booked this as a off site meeting for a couple days where the management team mulled through ideas and business decisions and then have our wives stop up there on Friday evening to have a casual weekend. The charm of the people, food and location is unlike anything else you will find. Enjoy yourself and relax. I am already planning another trip back.

I stopped at Hansel Lake Rest Area during a winter snowstorm. I lucked out, as the storm had…read morebriefly stopped. I tried figuring out how to park. There was snow and the lines weren't visible. I made my own lines. There was a man plowing the sidewalk. It was nice. I was trying to figure out where the sidewalk was and made my way up to the building. The women's washroom was clean. What was weird about each toilet in each stall was that it was absurdly low to the ground. I'd say that it was maybe a foot at most above ground. If you're a kid or a short person, you might like how low the toilet is. I'm tall. I was actually impressed that I could get up after using it. There wasn't a lot of information on the history behind Hansel Lake. Clear Lake is across from it. It would have been cool if there was a Gretel Lake nearby. There are vending machines inside the building. There's a picnic area, which would be nice to enjoy during the summertime. No pets are allowed there. When I left the building, the nice man had plowed in front of my rental vehicle. I appreciated his efforts. I do find that Minnesota rest stops are nicely maintained. It was a nice touch during a snowstorm. I'm glad that I stopped by. It was good to take a breather. (18)
